Engaging, informative rankings of animals that kids love
How are there so few reviews of this book? It is the most wonderful non-fiction children's book I have ever seen. It is a perfect balance between interesting information and the kind of head to head competition kids can't get enough of! What's the most poisonous animal? What animal can jump the farthest? What animal are there more of than any other? My kids ask these questions day in and day out, and the answers are all here in engaging, thoughtful, colorful layouts. And there's lots you might not expect, like a mass extinction chart and an armadillo defense decision tree. Kudos Mr Jenkins, this is a classic in our house and we couldn't be happier with it.

informative and super-entertaining!
My 2nd and 3rd graders love this book, which would be really hard to explain, except to say that it shows the answers to questions you never knes you had. (most populous animal by biomass? check!) This book is never on the shelf for more than a few minutes, and the kids have taken to "infographics" in a big way. Fun and informative way to learn about animals and interpreting graphs and visuals for mid-to-late elementary kids.

Bar graphs rule!
My first-grade grandson had learned about bar graphs in school and had thought they were quite boring. But this book changed his mind. He was totally hooked on what they could tell you about living creatures after looking at this exciting book!

Something for EVERYONE
I bought this as a Christmas present, and my granddaughter has yet to see it, but I did read it from cover to cover before wrapping it up and found it to be both informative and delightful.

Genius!
Another stunning book by one of my favourite authors for animal books! you can pore over the pages for hours - kids love them and learn so much from them but I defy anyone not to be captivated and entranced by the amazing information in this book - presented in infographics. Fact rich, beautiful presentation and illustrations as ever and endlessly useable and enjoyable!
