They're great... from a lifetime weight-lifter
These are great. I'm on the road for an extended time, and wanted something to lift with that didn't take up too much space. A quick background: I've spent my life with weights, from machine gyms to free weights of all sorts. I grew up working out in dingy weight rooms back in the '70s. So it was a bit difficult to choose a temporary set to keep fit (I'll be leaving the setup where I'm staying as a gift). Went through all the options on Amazon, but didn't care for most and didn't want to spend crazy money. These caught my eye because of the innovative plate system and compact size. I've received everything and have to say that I'm impressed! You can buy additional weight packs if you choose, and the way the weights screw in is quite intelligent. The machining is so good that you can just spin them on. They hold securely โ very impressed! The bar that converts them to a barbell is very short, but okay for average folks. I don't know why manufacturers cover bars with foam and I personally don't like it, so I also bought their set of metal, knurled handles which I greatly prefer. Some will prefer the foam, and it's good quality, but foam dries, rips and fails eventually. A bonus to buying the non-foam dumbbell grips is that you can have two sets ready to go, and when in barbell mode the non-foam grips feel better (from an old gym dog perspective). They're chrome-plated steel, which I'm not a fan of (I don't like plating and prefer straight steel, but we'll see how this holds up). All in all, very compact and perfect for daily routines. Quite impressive, and the perfect solution for my current needs. They look a bit "fancy" but I'm thinking most people would like that in a home setup. One thing I wasn't interested in was the boxy, quick-release plate-based sets I see here on Amazon. I don't want to squeeze my hands into a boxy cage. This screw-on approach is nearly as quick, and I like the traditional look. You won't hear a thing in use โ even with simple hand-tightening they are solid. The machining is very well done, so you can just spin additional plates onto the bar quickly. They seem to tighten securely and unscrew quickly even after they're tightened. So I'm very impressed, and excited to get after it. I don't think anybody would be disappointed in these. I'll update the review as I use them, but I'm thoroughly satisfied. I think they would make a great gift, and are truly attractive for leaving out in a room. Very, very satisfied! UPDATE: My goodness, even better than I thought. Truly a perfect system for dumbbells and light barbell work. There are no negatives to this set. Absolutely impressive in the smartness of it all. Very, very impressed and delighted.

Good improvements to a great product!
Tldr: This set is so customizable, sturdy, and compatible with all other Northdeer weights. Worth it! I have 2 sets (10lbs and 15lbs) of dumbbells from Northdeer already that I bought a couple years ago, and I use them almost every day. So when I saw they came out with an improved version, I definitely wanted to try them. This improved set does not disappoint! In my opinion, they retain the features that made the original sets great while having worthwhile improvements which I will explain below. First, the main difference between this set and the old sets is that these are even more adjustable! They have 4 plates instead of 3 and the plates are all the same shape (i.e. hole on one end, screw on the other end) except for the 4 end plates which donโt have holes. The old sets had a distinct order they had to be attached in because the plates were all different shapes and weights. Additionally, the handle pieces have holes on either end instead of screws, which means you can even just screw in a single end piece and make weights as low as 4lbs, just with this set (see one of the picture). I also attached a picture of my 15lb weights set with 3 plates per end (left) vs these weights (right) so you can see the different plate shapes. Overall, this change makes for the ultimate flexibility and itโs much easier to calculate which plates you need for however much total weight you want. Second, the old weights had these rubbery rings which you could slip in between the plates. They worked well to keep the weights from hitting the metal on the floor, but they were somewhat tight to put on. These new weights come with silicone rings that go on the end of the weights. These are easier to put on and similarly prevent the metal from hitting the floor. However, they also protect the ends of the weights so you can set them standing up. Plus itโs not as bad if you accidentally bump them together while working out since the ends are protected. Next, this set comes with 2 bar pieces that you screw together. They use the same screws as everything else, so thereโs a lot of flexibility when it comes to how long you want the bar to be. With the 2 bar pieces and 2 handles all screwed together, the total length is 26โ which for me is a good size for home workouts. Lastly, and maybe best, is that these weights are 100% compatible with the old weights. You can see in one of the pictures that I was able to screw on the end plate from my 15lb set onto the 20lb plates from this set. Basically any hole fits any screw across sets including the bars, plates, etc. This leads to even more customization, and I can basically do every weight between 2 and 20 pounds with just the 3 sets I have. Overall these sets from Northdeer are awesome, and these new weights offer some great improvements over their old sets. Theyโre compact, super customizable, super sturdy, and easy to work out with.

Work as great as they look
Love these dumbbells! They're very solid, secure, compact, quick & easy to adjust, and quiet. Foam grips feel secure and are holding up well. You can mix-n-match plates to get twenty-two weight increments per dumbbell -- from 1 lb to 20 lbs and almost everything in between. Great for someone who is new to workouts and wants to increase weights gradually. And they are so good-looking that I don't mind keeping them in the living room.

WIFE LOVES THEM
I purchased this for my wife for a birthday gift, she loved the concept and with the total weight option of 40lbs there is plenty of weight variations that she will be able to make gains and accommodate her needs for a very long time. Everything can be easy changed and versatility of dumbbells or a using a full bar means you can do anything at home as you can do with at a gym. The bar diameter is large enough to maintain a confident secure grip and the coated bar makes it easy on the hands even for me (I have average hands; my wife hands are smaller). The only thing I would say that wish could be changed is the center bar to be about a foot longer, because when all together to make the bench bar it is on the narrow side, for me for sure and my wife doesn't "mind" it but it's pretty tight even on small shoulder widths and trying to get your hands on the bar. Otherwise, she loves them, gives her plenty of weight to work with and got her spark back to workout again. Worth the buy, easy to switch things out fairly quickly and is all pretty compact to store away as they do not take up a lot of room and we purchased the heaviest set (40lbs) option. I'm positive these will last a long time. So give'r a go!

Quality set, everything I need
56-year-old woman here, looking to get back into some form of weightlifting. (Used to own a Total Gym, too bulky.) I think I looked at every single "adjustable dumbbell" listing on Amazon, and they all start to look alike after awhile. I was turned off by how bulky they looked, even at minimum weight. Then I watched a YouTube video review of different products where he twisted his wrist during his range of motion and the thing clicked and the weight fell right off midair. That made me VERY nervous about that entire design. Not to mention every single one had at least one review complaining of the twisting mechanism failing eventually and leaving them stuck on the last weight used. Enter the Northdeer. Of course they're sleeker than the other style, very eye catching. I was briefly drawn to the Eisenlink due to the modularity and ability to add extra weights down the line if needed, but still way, way too bulky. Northdeer also has this capability. I'm stronger than a lot of women but weaker than most men, so deciding on what weight to buy that would push my limits as I grew stronger (ideally) was a bit difficult. I settled on the 20 pounds, and let me tell you, that is plenty. Of course you can combine them into one unit for 40 pounds, but that won't be for awhile (if ever). I don't foresee using the barbell as much but it's awfully nice to have it as an option for the same price as products that don't. The only two drawbacks are that it does take a minute or two to screw weights on and off, as opposed to just clicking over, but a) how many times do you really anticipate changing weight during a workout? and b) at least the screwing method keeps them securely locked on, no chance of flying off midair. Also not a fan of the foam grips, but here's the great thing again about Northdeer -- they sell a set of knurled metal grips that work with these plates too. So that will give me 4 dumbbells instead of 2 and still less space than a Total Gym. (There is also a tiny inconvenience of conventional plate storage not working very well with the protruding bolts, making these not lie flat.) I've also ordered a bench and small rack to hold them, which will give me a nice compact gym right in my office. I'm very excited and I feel like I made a smart choice with the Northdeer system. Update: I couldn't resist the knurled grips, so now I have 4 dumbbells. The metal is pretty cold now that the temps have dropped, so the foam is actually nice to go back to, but they still feel great in my hand. I now have a ND kettlebell on my Xmas wishlist :)

Great quality
I have been lifting to some degree for decades and this is the best weight set I have owned. Pros 1) The screw on weights are really secure. There is no rattling. 2) As a small female, I need smaller increments to make consistent gains. I feel like most weight sets arenโt really designed for women. This is a very flexible system without cluttering your house. 3) There is a dumbbell and barbell option. I may eventually buy the kettlebell handle as well. Cons 1) Mine didnโt come with the silicone rings, which is a bummer. Iโm placing them on a yoga mat instead of the floor. I suspect the rings would make me less nervous about them rolling off my bench. I tried contacting them to see if they can send me a set but havenโt heard back. I knocked off a star for this. 2) The weight increments are odd since the handle is 1 pound, the middle plates are 2.5 pounds, and the end plates are 2 pounds. The jump from 11 to 15 pounds is a bit too much for me. I tried making it asymmetric (5 pounds on one side and 7 pounds on the other for a total of 13), and itโs not too awkward. I just scoot my grip closer to the heavier end. I might invest in their 0.5 or 1.5 pound plates for more flexibility, but they have been on backorder forever. I would definitely buy these again. Also, if you are debating between chrome and black, it seems like their additional weights only come in chrome. Edit: I got the 0.5 and 1.5 pound micro plates. They are made for the v1.0 set, so the edge of the plate is more rounded (see photo) and not an exact match, but they fit perfectly, so itโs a cosmetic not functional problem. I could not make the 2.5 pound jumps for lateral raises or overhead presses no matter how much I increased reps, so the microplates are perfect for that. I bumped my review back up to 5* since Iโm not sure the blue rubber bumpers that are missing from my set are really necessary.

The best adjustable dumbell set!
I have been doing a lot of research on the best adjustable dumbells. Initially I was on the hunt for the type where you spin the handle until you get to your desired weight, and then pick it off off the base. The ads make them look very easy. I was very close to ordering one of these other brands, but then I stumbled on reviews and even videos where they'd get stuck, resulting in a lot of muscle to get them off the base. As a woman, I didn't feel like fighting with the weights and then asking my husband to help me with that, so I searched for an alternative and came across Northdeer. Northdeer has a unique way of adding/ removing weights. It requires you to spin the weights on/off yourself. No quick spin of the handle like the other brands out there. I'm totally cool with this though because it means I do not have to worry about them getting stuck. Another reason I prefer these is because they are NOT bulky/uncomfortable to hold like the other brands. These are very compact weights to hold onto without all the extra bulk on the ends like other brands. I also love the fact that you can turn these into a bar for bench pressing as well. If you want more weights, you can easily order them online from as low as 0.5 lbs up to 2.5lbs. The 0.5lbs are great if you want to increase more slowly (adding total of only 1 lb to each dumbell). Overall, I am very happy with Northdeer and their adjustable set. These are very high quality and take up minimal space. Highly recommend!

Good option for small area
Nice compact alternative to adjustable weights without an exhorbitant price tag. Well made and easy to adjust, the weights screw together without an issue. I like the 2.0 version with more options for the weights.

Really like this make.
I have a set of Eisenlink dumbbells which I bought for ease of changing weight plates. I like them, but the large square plates feel a bit awkward for some exercises like curls or upright triceps extensions. After reading the good reviews about Northdeer dumbbells I purchased this dumbbell/barbell set. They're really compact, the weights are easy to change, and they screw on smoothly and securely. They take up hardly any space and look really good in the chrome finish. I've also bought the kettlebell and some spare weights, which I'm very happy with. Although a bit on the expensive side, I think they're good quality compared to similar ones on Amazon. I would buy again, especially when on special offer. NB. Customer service brilliant.

Best value adjustable dumbbells IMO
I relentlessly pored over dumbbell reviews when I was trying to decide on these and found a depressing lack of info on them. There are a million reviews of Powerblocks and Bowflex and Nuobells, but nobody seems to have given the humble Northdeer 2.0s the time of day. Here's the deal. You're trading a tiny bit of convenience with switching weights for more security (no falling plates and broken toes) and a more compact and attractive aesthetic. You also get access to the Northdeer ecosystem, which is small, but mighty. It comes with the barbell attachment, which is super convenient, and I've already replaced my stock foam grips with their knurled steel option, which is an upgrade in my opinion. I'll also be adding on more weights now that I'm making gains, and probably the EZ curl bar soon enough as well. If you're like me and going to the gym just eats up way too much time and energy, and you want a dumbbell set that can grow with you as you push through your home workout arc, you really can't go wrong with these. I'm genuinely surprised more people aren't talking about them, they're fantastic.

Great Quality - You Get What You Pay For
I have the 2 x 10kg dumbbells in the silver colour with the barbell extension. I took delivery yesterday after carrying out a lot of online research. l am very impressed. The packaging was compact and the V2.0 silver colour weight plates were well protected in the Northdeer original packaging which was much smaller than l expected. The dumbbells are of very high quality and whilst they are not cheap, l am of the belief that you get what you pay for. I am a man in my 50โs and l am confident that these dumbbells will outlast me. I like the padded hand grips and the ease with which the weight plates can be changed. I also like the frosted finish on the face of the V2.0 silver colour weight plates. I have noted that some of the Northdeer โadd onsโ have been out of stock over the last several weeks. Having now seen the quality of the dumbbells l emailed their customer support to query when the V2.0 silver colour weight plates, the compatible curling bar and the barbell are likely to become available. I received a prompt reply, the V2.0 silver colour weight plates should be available in early April and the barbell/curling bar in early May (2025) There is also a โnotifyโ link on the Northdeer website for those that want to order out of stock items. . The dumbbells are packaged in 2 x robust polystyrene packing trays (top and bottom) They lend themselves for use as open storage for the dumbbells. I am using one (see the photo) and l will keep the other as a spare. I was not aware of any smell at all when l unboxed the dumbbells. I would prefer black colour floor protectors for attaching to the weight plates rather than the light blue ones provided and l note that other reviewers have made this point. I am 6โ3โ and l weigh 100kg+ The dumbbell grips are more than big enough for me. In my opinion they will suit people of all sizes, ages and physical strength with the option to decrease/increase the weight to suit your needs. On the whole, the dumbbells are not cheap but getting them with the barbell extender is cost effective and l am happy with my purchase.
