GMRS not FRS. Good product.
Remember this is GMRS not FRS. If you cannot take advantage of the GRMS platform don't get these. If you want a simple walkie to chat short distances get the FRS models. Only issue with these is the access to software updates or changes. It's almost non existent. BUT this seems to be similar to the Baofeng 888 and you could probably buy the connecter for those and use it to access the Baofeng site and adjust settings. Just remember the lower channels are low powered. Upper channels are GMRS higher powered. You do need a license. It's cheap and is yearly I think. Transferable for 1 family if I'm not mistaken. Have fun.

Perfect for my application
Purchased it to communicate with family members in our property in southern Europe. It exceeded our expectations: Not only did it handle the 3 story reinforced concrete house without any problem, it allowed communication (3-4 km away) with the nearby village. even under no direct "line-of-sight" conditions. Communication is clear and battery life up to par. Required FCC license was easy to obtain. We are very pleased with the price and the performance.

Walkie Talkie works fine. Device support email doesn’t work.
Works fine. Bad instructions. To Turn on NOAA, keep WT OFF. Press and hold down the (-) minus and then turn ON while pressing down the (-) button. I tried to contact customer support when I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the NOAA but info (at) thepxton (dot) com doesn’t work so either it’s a bogus front or they haven’t been paying the bills. Either way, you’re not going to get any support from this defunct(?) company. They write “hours of operation” but since email doesn’t work and they don’t have a phone number (Amazon’s link goes to their website too) be aware you’re going to have to deal with whatever issue that may come up on your own.

These just work.
These are very nice. They work just as I had hoped! We use them as a way to reach other rooms to check on the elderly.

Crap radios
Avoid these radios. Don't waste your money! I bought 8 of these for my family of 7. They charged well the first night. When I went to charge them again, the chargers showed that all of the batteries were already charged and would not charge them. One of the batteries, though it showed a full charge would not work in any of the radios. Even though the description says there are 38 GMRS channels and 10 NOAA channels, it lied. There are only 22 channels programmed and the other 14 channels are blank. There is no way to program these radios. NONE! They are not supported on CHIRP. I checked the internet thoroughly and their web page is utterly useless. (I will say that there are pages on the internet that said you can use the MOTOROLA software to program them but that is PC only and I don't own a PC so I did not try that option. So, I don't know if that will work or not). I returned all of them and will spend the extra $ to get something that works.

Their range is for sure not a long range...
The only thing that they could have done better is the reach distance in town. The straight line of sight is okay. It is surely not long range radio's.
