SUPERB...Just simple superb if you are on copper broadband read this
An internet changing experience. I was a copper line user before this with EE getting 31mbps download and 4 upload. The service was steady but not very dynamic and for what I got expensive. I changed to Talk talk and unsure what happened but the whole service went OFF. Now having a web shop I had to find an alternative and quickly..I had thought about a 4g service before..now as a stand in I had no choice. I ordered the TP link DECO 5G and it arrived same day via Amazon. Inserted a sim card I have in my van from Vodaphone ..I live in a poor mobile service area regardless of what provider but Vodaphone and 02 are probably the worst signal so I wasn't expecting miracles. Pleasantly surprised as the download speed saw 25 to 40 mbps... I thought maybe I'm onto something here so ordered again from Amazon a multi sim..the type that uses any provider so I could switch and see who is best...this service is available with the app..you just select a provider and lock it in The router itself is and excellent well made and even aesthetically pleasing piece of kit and its app is simplicity itself to use. So inserting the new multi sim I looked about and set it for each provider in turn EE,o2 Voda and lastly Three . To my surprise we ain't in a 5g area..but upstairs I just got a wiff of 5g signal..at 110mbps..I got more than excited!!!. So to improve on this I further ordered an external antenna the Nelawya 4G LTE 5G Panel Antenna Outdoor Mimo Directional Antenna to be exact. I installed this the same day it arrived...and BINGO...260 mbps download and 20 upload. Couldn't have been any happier..gone is the old dinosaur service from EE/Talk Talk..I now have an internet fit for the 21st century ...and gaming on my Quest 3 is just another experience the wifi link speed is a lot faster than my ASUS gaming router too.. As mentioned the router is a nice piece of kit, well made and with an excellent app . I have been using it now for 4 weeks and its been extremely stable and almost self maintaining the app shows you all sorts of data from signal strength to how much data you have used per day/month or total ...I have noticed with routers they kind of settle in and steadily speed have settled at a higher average than my first use...at times I can get a peek of over 400 mbps but likewise if the service is being hammerd like when the kids come out of school it can drop to 190..still far more than copper though . So to me this device is now my favorite gadget of 2025 and rightly it earned that title. In house coverage is good..I live in a 5 bedroom house and there isn't anywhere I cant get a signal..it slows down as you get further away obviously but even outside with 2 walls between us and 20 meters from it I get 80 mbps ...so for me range is excellent . Coupled with the exterior antenna its a brilliant set up and buying my Three sim with unlimited data and paying for 2 years in advance it cost me only £8.50 a month. I wont be going back to the copper line ever again...why would you. If you live in a good 5g area then this device would work out the box..its own antennas are very capable..and you can improve on them with simple rabbits ears anyway I only added my exterior malarkey to reach out a little further to drink from that 5g pool as covergae by me is poor. Thoroughly recommended peice of technology that you dont need a degree in IT to set up . See attached pics for before and after..you just have to love it

Dependable and affordable 5G mesh router
The most affordable 5G router with WiFi 6 mesh feature. Very easy and straightforward to setup to use especially linking it up with other deco products for mesh wifi network and can be done in a single app. This product is great for those who have slow broadband speed especially for the price per month. Where I'm currently living, broadband speeds are as only high as about 72mbps and charging somewhere between £25 to £38 depending on ISP and contract duration, as it seems to be a rip off. Currently using O2 and got a very dead for unlimited data for a year contract for £25. Getting speeds as low as about 150mbps (peak times) to as high as sometime about 400mbps deep in the night on 5G network with excellent signal strength and quality. But every location is different where you live, where you place the router (for me, I placed it in the loft) and the network you are currently using. So if your broadband sucks especially for the price, this will be the next best option to try out. Remember to check with your local network store for the best price package discount and if you are not happy with the Internet speed with one you recently applied for, you can return it without charge (within 14 days) and try another network out. It's very good as the router does not lock you into a single network like 3, even if your contract ends. If you move to a different location with fast broadband, you can still use it as a router especially if you have additional purchases other Deco products for with mesh. Also if you are still on mobile contract and on broadband contract. You can use it as a fail over just incase if your main broadband goes down. So in the end, it's a win - win situation

Great product! Absolutely recommended
Very nice piece of kit. I used this to replace my copper wired broadband system which gave me approximately 35 MB download speed and also needed repair every year. Due to bad weather and corrosion the ISP wouldn't replace the cable or supply fibre to my property so I decided to take different measures. I purchased this and I haven't looked back, immediately increased my speeds times 10. Reaching an average of 300 MB per second and a maximum of 500 at times. It does sometimes reboot itself and lose connection which is expected for a wireless system, but it doesn't take long to recover. The system was very welcome. Change and worth every penny since I'm now paying half the amount for my broadband. I've had the system for 3 months now and I had no real issues. The anything you need to do is make sure you have good coverage for your SIM to ensure maximum connection, speeds and coverage.

Poor Performance - Struggled to handle a houseful of devices
I bought this to replace a failing 5G Hub from Three, out of contract. While it was easy enough to set up, and has lots of features, it proved over time to be nothing but trouble. It has splendid logging levels and inspecting the Debug log it soon became clear that it could not handle the load being placed upon it, circa 35 devices (a mix of tech, including a number of IoT devices. A firmware update to the latest available made no difference. Data drop-outs, stalls, latencies were horrible. Looking at Debug, and running AI analysis on the log it was very apparent that the X50-5G was inadquate for the task. Maybe it would be okay with significantly fewer devices. I kept it far too long, debugging and assessing, to be able to send it back for refund.

Be warned if connecting an external aerial
5G has just become available in a rural area that I work at. The signal isn't brilliant but acceptable. I purchased this device to replace an existing 4G router as the 4G signal in the area has deterioriated significantly. Setup was a simple 5 minute job and the router placed near a window. It instantly picked up a reasonably good 5G signal and speed tests showed around 100mbps. But occasionally it lost the 5g signal and reverted back to 4g (band 3) and speeds of 1-2mbps. Given this is a rural area I wanted to connect it to my exisiting 5G compatible 2x2 external mimo aerial. And there lies potentially an issue with this device. The specifications clearly state all the UK 4g and 5g bands are covered BUT another advert on Amazon for this router states the fact that when you connect an external aerial you are limited to 5g bands N41, N77 and N78. EE for one in the UK are transmitting at bands N1 and N28. So that could render the aerial useless. I reached out to TP-Link and they have said ALL bands are covered and when I connected to the aerial I was seeing N1 and N28. In summary I would say for someone in an area with excellent 5g signal then this device is for you. Simply plug and play. But in rural areas where an external aerial is required I would check what bands your provider is transmitting and proceed with caution although it 'should' be ok. Also the o/s on the device is pretty dumbed down. Fine for plug and play but for those a little techie savvie (say you want to easily split the 2.4 and 5ghz wifi frequency) think twice about this device. Oh and it is a male TP-SMA connector as well just for reference so you may need an adaptor depending on you aerial feed like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0723255NF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 *** edited *** I have had this router for several months now and it has been amazing. 5g was not officially supported in the rural area it is set up in (according to the service supplier) but it is there. This router happily connects to the 5g and is reliable stable at between 180-200mbps. I have it connected to a 5g compatible aerial which does boost the signal and may be necessary in some areas. I would still keep it at 4 stars though due to it's dumbed down interface and accessible features but for a simple plug in and go device with very little configuring it's a must. The only other thing to say is price - the market for 5g routers is still pretty limited so that may reflect the 'high' price. I am sure they will start to fall as more competition comes on the market.

i am shocked!
Just got the device and did not expect much. But boy oh boy... From vodafone 5G sim speed 11mbps went to over 220mbps. Even my phone works faster now! :D The set up was super easy, but i feel the difference in the speed straight away. Will check how far the wifi goes and will update the review.

Location is everything !
As I approach retirement, I wanted a good, fast, reliable internet connection. My current (landline) connection speed is usually around 72Mbps. I bought this and paired it with a 5G unlimited data sim on the 3 network. Initial results weren't promising. 16 to 20 Mbps download, but I don't live in a 5G area. Tried it at the family home and I was blown away. Fastest I saw was over 600 Mbps, but it was usually around 500 Mbps. If you live in a 5G area, this is an investment you won't regret.

Great piece of tech
Unfortunately it was not fit for our purposes, or better yet, the ISP coverage was atrocious! However and even without using the external antennas, this little beautifully crafted router was able to get a better signal than the router provided by the ISP. It so happened that signal was still not enough to be reliable. Examining it I was thoroughly impressed with what TP-Link devices have always been consistent in my experience, ease and utter effortless installation, with the app affording an intuitive user interface. I was quite impressed with the level of manual settings tampering it offers. It provided a very strong WiFi 6, in the whole 3 bedroom house. Because WiFi is independent of internet connection. Please don’t be like my partner and sister and many friends of mine who like to wind me up with their inability to make the distinction between WiFi and Internet! Despite the ISP signal being pathetically weak, both WiFi bands expanded nicely having no problem penetrating even the middle structural walls and the small boiler and plumbing room with all its metal gear that would ordinarily be something one would expect to cause dead spots. The security and serious parental controls are subscription only after a 30 day trial, but the protection applied on the router protecting everything that connects to the internet through it is worth it. I use my own setup but the trend is towards getting a subscription based protection anyway, and on that front TP-Link offers a very affordable solution. The power cable is long enough to ensure adequate a distance from potentially interference causing power outlets, and the option to add external antennae, of your choice, which I think includes even the outdoor signal booster types makes this router even more adaptable! Alas being restricted in the rental accommodation punching holes though the wall to test that was beyond the scope of our allowances. Despite having to return it, I am somehow sold to the idea when the ISP get their act together I will be coming back for it, especially seeing how the one that came with the connection felt very much wanting in settings options and overall performance. I am not saying you should, but I will come back to TP-Link having seen how easy it is to use. I can only hope that my having to return it does not make the company doubt for a minuet that it was due to a failing on the product side or that my loyalty to this brand is compromised. I was so looking forward for it to work for me because it would have been great for peace of mind as it was intended for my sister who had not intention of learning how to manage it, but which would have been so easy I am sure of it. Plus it has the standard remote management options which I would be using to ensure her connection was safe and reliable. Oh well, shame really! Oh btw the option to buy in interest free instalments is a really sweet cherry on the top! 🤗

Great product and fantastic customer service.
I was sick of Virgin Media's high price and average service, so I swapped out for this (with Sky Mobile SIM), and I am delighted. It's simple to set up, just as good as broadband for gaming, streaming (heavy use). So I've gone from €70/ month to €15/ month for the same service. And the minor setup query I had (ioT) was answered quickly and efficiently by TP-Link customer service. Highly recommended.
