Super impressed!
I purchased this wonderful Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Pet Carpet Cleaner recently (June 2026) and am absolutely blown away by its effectiveness and for doing an absolutely outstanding job cleaning my truly filthy carpets. My carpeting is at least 25 years old and has been living through 3 sets of cats (2 in each set) and they have had their moments when sick and vomiting all over the house in various places esp. when they were close to going to kitty heaven. I've had my carpets professionally cleaned before but the last time had to be at least 10 years ago. I essentially thought there was no hope for my carpeting other than replacing it which is something I can't do. I can't afford it and have too much stuff to move. One of my current kitties has asthma (never knew cats could get that) and I've been thinking if I could only do a really good clean on my carpeting, she'd be better. I can't say this is the ultimate outcome but when I used this wonderful machine, I couldn't believe how effective it was on many of the stains and smells that have been on it for such a long time. Even as you first step onto the carpet after entering the unit was super dirty and this unit completely cleaned it up. I'm still flabbergasted. I purchased that P.E.T. carpeting which is a type of synthetic carpet made from polyethylene terephthalate. It's advertised as stain resistant but it was a big disappointment in that regard. It stained very easily. I did end up doing my entire condo in the heaviest traffic areas and I am not kidding--my carpeting looks almost as good as the day I bought it. I still can't believe it. The difference is night and day and although this unit was by no means inexpensive, I felt even after one treatment I more than got my money's worth and was truly pleased with my purchase. I did have to fill up the tank (and added a little of the carpet solution they give you) probably at least 5 times and the water collected was absolutely filthy--and I mean pretty gross. My carpeting now looks alive again and I can feel the difference walking on it still after 2 weeks since the cleaning. I followed the guidelines of water to shampoo solution ratio and would actually recommend easing off a little on the amount of shampoo you add to it. It's not much in regard to the guidelines on the tank but I saw a lot of suds being created and sucked up and it took me a while to get most of it out. I had some leftover Bissell Deep Clean Pro shampoo I used up before adding what came with the unit and it smells sooo nice. Just a nice, pleasant fragrance which just smells clean. Same for what came with the unit. I plan on doing the house again with just water in the tank for an extra clean. This unit can blast steam on a stain and it heats the water so I think that really helped. That was the main reason I wanted this unit--the steam that helps loosen stains before the brushes do their thing. I can't recommend this enough because my carpeting was truly disgusting. It took several hours with a few breaks in between but I was just so happy with the results I was seeing, I just wanted to do the rest of the house and am so pleased I did. They say in the directions on the regular mode I used that the carpets would be dry in 8 hours. That was true. Yes, they were a little damp as you'd expect but by morning, everything was dry and clean. I was not disappointed at all with anything about this machine. It truly did an amazing job.

Best carpet cleaner I've owned
After 1.5 years of ownership and frequent use, I feel like I can very comfortably give this 5 stars. This thing cleans very well. Even stains from pet accidents (I pre-treat, rinse, shampoo, rinse for very stubborn stains, but this machine does so well I find myself having to do this FAR less than any of my previous rug shampooers). It handles pet hair (we have multiple floofy, double-coated doggos) beautifully. Nothing wraps around the rollers, it catches all of it in the hood piece that is very easy to remove and clean. The steam function is amazing for stains. As a caveat, it is somewhat heavy, but the strategically placed gripping points make carrying it up and down stairs much easier. It is a beast, and seems to be built solidly, unlike some other brands I've owned. If I had to nitpick, I just wish the tanks were bigger, but I'd willingly give up bigger tanks for this thing's cleaning ability and ease of use any day. It's definitely my favorite carpet cleaner that I've ever owned.

This thing is an absolute beast! Just go easy on the solution, 3/4 of recommended will do the trick!
I bought the HydroSteam Pet in March 2025 and I can honestly say that this is the BEST Upright steam cleaner I have over owned! When I decided to replace the previous Bissell I had given my mom (we moved into a house with hardwood) I decided that this would be the way to go as you can disassemble it to remove ALL of the pet hair that can get stuck in the machine crevasses, steam to clean up any messes our pets or kid made that had been left over by the little green and it didn't disappoint! It pulled so much nastiness out of the rugs that I didn't eve know was there! It's made it a year and a half in a household with a ragdoll and an orange tabby with a Great Pyrenees/St Bernard Mix and it doesn't phase this thing, it keeps going! It's a little heavy for it's size, but it does a great job. Make sure to monitor your water and solution levels closely, in fact, I recommend 3/4 of the suggestion on the side of the tank than recommended while keeping the water recommendations, as the suds will remain in the carpet without using only water to remove it. Suction never drops, heats quickly, I have never ran out of cord and the only assembly needed when it arrived was attaching the handle. It's perfect for homes with families that also have fur kids! I couldn't recommend it more!

1/10 machine, no suction, leaves too much water, frequently clogs
This carpet cleaner worked great for about half an hour. Then it became so inundated and pointless due to the constant clogging. I had to tear it down and clean it every 4-5 sweeps over the carpet. I am in a new build 2025 home, with one dog, and one cat that are regularly groomed. I don't have a dog or cat hair problem inside my home that could be considered egregious. The carpets are regularly vacuumed as well. I purchased this for food and drinks stains from my toddlers spills, with the animals in mind just in case that was an issue, and the product performed horribly for the premium price. If I could rate this product zero stars I absolutely would. The way its designed is counter-productive as the suction area for the vacuum is considerably higher than other carpet cleaning machines, and only works on a back pass (when you bull it backwards). The steam option is laughable, and provides no measurable difference in stain lifting capability. As a result of both of all of us, the machine ultimately leaves far too much water on the carpet requiring extended drying periods. For example, I filled the container to max fill and then added the correct amount of solution, which adds up to maybe a few quarts of water/solution mix. The amount that was picked back up after the initial 30 minutes was maybe 5-10% of the mix applied. It didn't lift hardly any stains out of the carpet, and while the water that was collected was dirty, it simply didn't meet expectations of a machine that is priced at a premium rate. I should not need to do 12 passes on the suction mode to get solution off of the carpet, and still need to run box fans to dry it off. This machine is all name and fame, with no bark or bite. Buyer beware. Item was returned for a full refund.

Bissell comparison
Ok grab a cup of coffee, its is not going to be short. I could say I love it or hate it, but its not helpful if there is nothing to compare with. To start out, I needed a new vacuum as if its smaller than a chicken my wife will try to vacuum it up and the previous unit didn't hold up to her unique style. While buying a new vacuum I decided I needed a carpet shampoo apparatus and bought a Hoover power scrub. Yes i know this is about the Bissell, Ill get to it. The Hoover worked good to start with, but unlike the Bissell, you can't put hot water in it. Now knowing that a man that knows everything is going to think if water is good, hot water is better, they should put that in big letters, not the small ones on front to not use hot water. I think that's more on Hoover than me. The plastic all turned yellow, the plastic holders for the tank fell off and it leaked after it warped every time I used it. It was useless to put don't use hot water in the instruction manual as dudes will never read a manual. It quite mixing the solution with the water tank which was my last straw. So I bought the Bissell. Yes we finally got there. I have used the Bissell on thick nap pile carpet, it does a very nice job and the solution and waste tanks snap in well and don't leak even after putting hot water in it. See Hoover, they made it so I can put hot water in it. The power brushes do a real good job and pull up enough cat hair left behind after vacuuming to knit a cat wig. Im happy with most aspects accept it lacks on suction power and leaves quite a bit of moisture in the carpet, which is cool if you don't want the cat in your bedroom. The cat is still not pleased with me. Here is where the Hoover shines. It spools up like a jet engine and removes all the moisture that would last almost 2 days from the Bissell to almost dry in 2 hours. Lucky the only thing still working on the Hoover is the suction. So the Bissell is a great unit if you dont mind wet carpets for a few days

Hands-down, the best carpet shampooer I’ve ever owned.
If you’re like me, you like to keep your area, rugs, and your carpets beautiful and clean. I have a dog who tends to bring in muddy messes. Over the years I have bought a few different carpet shampooers, and only one of them probably worked the best at the time because it had a rinse cycle without having to switch to a clean water tank. Well, that machine didn’t last more than two years. I then bought another one. I think was a Bissell pet pro heat and I gotta tell you, it never pulled out the dirt out of my carpet, no matter how many times I went over it, it remained dirty. I almost threw away my very expensive area rug until I bought this carpet shampooer. I was at the point that I didn’t even care how much money I had to spend to buy a carpet shampooer, as long as I can find something that actually does what it’s supposed to do. Well, it took me a minute to really figure out how to use it correctly to get the best results, And this is by far the best investment I’ve ever made in a carpet shampooer EVER!!!! Ok 1st thing, the pre-stain steaming function works perfect. 2nd thing, the shampoo/heat drying function working together at the same time is brilliant!! 3rd thing, the steam dry works way better than I thought it would. When you use it correctly, it says it will dry in 30 minutes, well it did exactly that. Let’s not forget to mention one of the most things you need to have in shampooer, the strength and power of the suction feature to pull out the water and dirt. Well I cannot believe how much more dirty water this machine was pulling up out of my carpet!! It pulled up stains up that I thought would never ever come out because it never did with two other carpet shampooers. The shampooer is a dream, and it cleans your carpets just like a professional would. I invested a lot of money in rebuilding my home and I want to keep it beautiful and clean and the only way that I can do that is by investing in products like this that will far surpass any of my expectations and is the best buck for your bang. So don’t worry about how much it cost, think about how much it’ll cost you later on down the road when you have to keep replacing those carpets in area rugs when you don’t purchase this product. Happy cleaning.

Very pleased
Learning curve! The machine works well, if you pull the trigger going forward and backward, it puts down a lot of water/solution. I just pushed it to go forward then quick dry on the pull back. It worked wonders. Carpet dried within 30 minutes of cleaning and the dirty water tank had really dirty water in it ( we live where there is a lot of dust). Machine is not overly heavy, I am 68 years old and was able to do my living room with ease. The length of the cord is very generous, nice to be able to do the entire room without having to plug and unplug. I am very pleased so far.

Great machine
I moved into a 2-bedroom apartment that was previously leased by a family with children. The carpet looked okay initially - it was certainly vacuumed prior to my move-in - but, after I spilled something on the carpet and cleaned it, I noticed that patch was about 3 shades lighter than the rest of it! After a lot of research, I chose this Bissell and I do not regret it. It is very user-friendly and easy to operate. It does require frequent emptying and refills because of the smaller size of the canisters, but these breaks in work are actually easier on your body. All in all, it's a great machine! For larger areas, it will definitely take time, but the results are satisfying!

Best Thing I bought in 2024!
This thing has been phenomenal I use it every week. Couches, carpets abused by my pets and babies. Cleans everything, I always use stain remover and follow the soap level guides for the right dilution. The suction on the floor tool is better than the hand tools. The carpet does dry WAY faster than the couches and chairs. Might take 2 passes but it's so easy to clean out the canister too. I would make the bottom dirty water and the little clean water tank the same size, the capacity seems lopsided. Haven't had any leaks. Would recommend!

Amazing Machine
I have owned several different carpet cleaners and this blows them all out of the water. Went over an area that I had done 3 days before with my old machine before it randomly died, the water was black coming out of the carpet. Even on the deep clean setting it only takes a day for the carpet to dry. The machine is east to set up and even easier to use, I don't use bissel solution I use HDX Extractor from home depot and it works great as long as you follow the instructions on the bottle not the lines on the jug. The part I love is how easy it is to clean the head, not to mention how easy it is to remove the dirty water container.
