I love these hand2mind Reading Rods for Sentence Construction for my 5 year old grandson. He read 4 sentences that I created right away when we opened it. Soon he’ll be making his own sentences. These rods really seemed to help him understand that words are individual structures that can be put together to make a complete thought. Each part of speech is color coded and packed in the box according to their part of speech. So when his sentence needs a verb, he can look at a particular color to find all the verbs. Very helpful! They also have tenses (has, have, had, haves, etc. all on the same rod), and punctuation. I believe this set will be used for a very long time as his grammar experience becomes more complex. The rods are easy to snap together, and easy to pull apart. This was an excellent purchase!

I was looking for a better way to encourage and assist my daughter in sentence building and then I stumbled upon this. I can say for a fact that this is the best product gotten cos it’s been so helpful in our journey to constructing meaningful sentences. The fun game activities we come up with and is also enriching. The quality is top notch as the blocks are very durable. I wish it had magnets in it so I could pin it to my fridge so she’s busy with it while I cook but above all it is a good choice for sentence construction,

Worth the spenditure! This has been a fun way to strengthen sentence building skills and have a hands on experience over papers and pencils. My boys have enjoyed the sentence building features and my daughter is able to clearly connect the color coded parts of speech along side her worksheets.

Perfect for the classroom, early readers or struggling readers

Exactly as described. Came quickly. You have to be familiar with your parts of speech in order to not be digging around the box looking for words (guilty!!) They're all color coated, so if you know your parts of speech (prepositions, auxiliary, etc) it'll be seamless. Otherwise, even with the rooting around for the words, it's fine.

My son love to play with these and his number blocks. Great quality, kind of reminds me of some of the cubes we used in school.

Made my reluctant low reader excited because we made it a game.

Excellent product; one should be made with Spanish and English on it as you turn the cubes.

Perfect for purpose

These Reading rods for sentence construction are very easy to use, and I am delighted with how educational and fun they are. I like the bright colours and the design and style of this set. We’ve had a lot of fun using this together and I like that it’s helping him retain what he’s learning because it’s so interactive and engaging for him. The words are printed very clearly, and it’s easy to read and understand the words on the rods. The shape and size of the reading rods is very good because it’s easy for my nephew to put them together and take them apart. They are safe and comfortable for him to hold and use so there aren’t any safety issues or anything I’m concerned about. I feel this set is very high quality because all of the pieces are very strong, sturdy and durable so will last and I like that I can store them easily in the box. I’ve not had any issues or problems with using this set with my nephew and I feel it’s excellent value for money. It’s a very giftable set and I feel it would make a great present for someone. I highly recommend this set.

We are building up quite a collection of these reading rod sets. Whilst we are not at the stage of sentence construction yet, I think it will be good to progress through the reading rod sets as familiarity with the concept will help with learning. That said, you can dip into these sets at any stage. This one will be ideal when children are learning about the different types of words in school, as each different type is colour coded. As with the sets for younger children, there are suggested activities to try with your children which is handy for parents.

This is an excellent set of blocks to help a child build their literacy skills. The set is intended for children aged 7 and up, though they could be used earlier or later depending on the level of literacy. The blocks are colour coded so all verbs are the same colour, all nouns a different colour, and so on to help a child to learn parts of speech and to build grammatically correct sentences. The blocks could be used to build a story with a child and to build vocabulary too. The cubes fit together easily but hold in place well, before being easily detached again after use

At £35 this is a really expensive set but then if it helps with your child's education it's worth it and this is an excellent tool to help improve reading, spelling and how to put sentences together. The set is aimed at age 7+ however we're using it for our daughter who is just 6 and whilst we have to help it's a fantastic set that's definitely helping her with her learning and being at the age where they're constantly learning word skills in school, this is a great tool. The kit comes with 123 "rods" that are colour coded and they have clear lettering on them and fit together really well and you also get a detailed booklet. The overall quality is good and the kit feels like it would really last so can probably be donated to another child or school after it's no longer needed which would help justify the price. Overall we're really pleased with this set and highly recommend it.
