The ultimate travel air purifier
I own two IQAir Health Mate Pros, which are the most effective air cleaners available, but a little bulky for trying to take on an airplane. When this came out, I had to give it a try. Happy to say that I've traveled with it three times, just packed in a bag, and it has given me blissful sleep on the pillows, sheets, and mattresses where I was staying. You need to set this up close to your head. It's not meant to clean the room, but to produce a zone of clean air around your head. On the highest of the three settings, it's audible, but that's about all. On the two lower settings the sound is barely noticeable. The quirks: (it wouldn't be IQAir without quirks) First, you plug the cord into the side of the unit and into the wall. You may need an extension cord in some hotel rooms, to run the power from the outlet to your face. The cord is reasonably long, but for some hotel rooms may just not be long enough. So bring an extension cord. The stand is actually cool. But, when you attach the disc-shaped unit to the stand, it doesn't really CLICK into place. Rather, it SLIPS into place. Result: If you try to pick up and move the unit, the stand may fall off. It'd be nice if it had some kind of positive attachment to the lozenge. I have no idea, obviously, how long the filter will last. I do know that I'm really glad to have this, and believe it will open up a world of travel that I thought I had lost. Edit: After a few months of ownership, I decided to try using this in my bedroom, every night, to help me sleep. The good news is that it works as well at home as it did in a hotel room. The bad news is that the filters don't last long at all. I run it on the highest speed, 3, for about 8 hours each night, and after about a month I'm starting to clog up and wake up coughing. Nor is it a slow decline. Rather, one night I'm fine, one night I struggle, and then it's hopeless. Too bad. But if you look at the filters you can see that they are rather small, without much surface area, and so it's no surprise that they fill up quickly. Once again, others whose allergies are somewhat less savage than mine may get more out of each filter. But this will be my travel filter rather than every day. I will not reduce the rating, because this was an unknown rather than an expectation, and this will still be the ultimate travel air purifier. But if you use it for travel, you may want to track the number of hours use, and when you get near to 250, swap it out if you're about to go on the road. Edit #2: The really interestingly-shaped filter sits inside this thing wrapped around the top and the back side, which I realized might cause problems with filter longevity. Why? Because dust can settle out of the air directly onto the filter, by traveling down. Unlike the big tall house-sized units that I also reviewed. So I started putting a plastic bag over the unit when not in use. Good news! Doing this about doubles the filter life for me. Going from one month to two months per filter is definitely worth it, given that all I do is put a trash bag over the thing. It still costs me about a dollar a night, but my sleep is so much better that it's worth it. Edit #3: After about a year of use I noticed that filter life was starting to tank. When you change a filter, you'll notice a second, smaller lift-off cover that has a little curved piece of styrofoam under it. This is the muffler, to reduce the already miniscule amount of sound the unit produces. Trying to clean this made it worse, but removing it entirely resolved the problem, and the unit is barely louder. So you may want to consider ditching this. It doesn't seem to be a replacement part, but I plan to go to the hardware store, buy matching foam, and cut out a replacement. I'll let you know.

Awesome Air Purifier
I brought this air purifier for my sons room as he had bad allergy. I wasn't sure if it would be enough for the room, but we have it for a week now and it's working great. The size is perfect for the room not too big or too small. I love the modern design with the hand touch on & off on the side. It was easy to setup - my 10 years old son put it together. We have it sit on top of their book case between the beds and so far I haven't see any dust in the room - with 2 boys in the room it usually get dusty even a day after we clean. Best part, my sons have stop coughing - no allergy - YES! The price is not cheap but definitely worth the money - I going to have to save up to get one for my room next.

Not suitable for people with chemical sensitivities
We bought this product after much research hoping to have a unit which would clear a small area of VOC (dryer sheets, fabric softener, perfumes, deoderants, etc...). We know the filter shipped with the Atem was not designed to help with VOC so be also bought the replacement activated charcoal filter which should help with VOC. What a huge dissapointment when we turned it on and "Morning Mist" (name your poison) wafted from the machine. Maybe they dip it in something to cover the smell of the plastic or circuitry or maybe the filter has a scent impregnated in it to give the impression of "fresh air" but if you are trying to avoid or rid your personal space of chemical smells, this will not do it but actually make it worse. We are willing to spend just about anything to help with this problem and the Atem is about 10x more expensive than all other personal air purifiers. It probably does a good job of filtering the air from dust and pollen but it does emit a smell (think truck stop urinal cakes) that obviously nobody on the design team had an issuse with. We had high hopes. It is nicely designed and small enought to travel with but the toxic smell is a deal breaker and headache maker.

A breath of fresh air wherever you are
Okay, I have to admit, I had an EXTREMELY hard time dropping $400 on a travel air purifier but I am SO GLAD I DID. I also have the IQ Air health pro plus running full time at home and I can now say I am 100% IQ Air loyal. I suffer from allergies and asthma (the send you to the hospital for O2 kind) and my major triggers are pollen, cats, and dust. I travel frequently for work an hotel rooms are quite often some of the word places for dust (don’t believe me? Just look under the bed, or better yet, don’t 😂). One hotel in particular that I stay at frequently is HORRIBLE for dust and is also right next to some agricultural land. My first stay with the Atem was life changing - and the trees were in full bloom! I get to the hotel as soon as I can and set the Atem up and run it on 100% while I go out for a few hours to grab dinner (if your allergies and asthma are really bad I recommend the Cambridge mask company pro series masks to filter everything while you are on the go - yeah you have to wear it and some people look at you weird, but hey, it beats being in the hospital!). When I come back to the room the air had bee turned over a few times and it is much cleaner than before. I then set it up as intended on 30-50% and aim it straight at my face and enjoy my own personal clean tropical breeze! Okay, maybe it isn’t always tropical, but it is the cleanest air you will ever breathe! I also used the Atem when we were staying at a friend’s house that had cats (one of my major triggers) and the cats usually live in the guest room 😬. Ran the Atem on a little higher speed than usual and had ZERO issues! One thing that I will recommend is to keep some chapstick and maybe a humidifier (depending on where you are) on hand to keep you from drying out since you will have a breeze on you all night.

Filtering is first rate but too many problems
Definitely works far better than any other purifiers, but the problems and quirks mean I'll be returning: A persistent rattle noise has emerged; the temperature gauge is usually off by +3-5 F; open the iOS app and the fan speed reduces slightly then returns to normal once I exit the app, rendering any changes to fan speed not quite right; can't figure out how to update firmware in the app; opened the unit per instructions from customer support but then refuses to click back together as it did when first assembled; customer support was responsive but disorganized (received two simultaneous but different email responses from two different support reps, then my case was quickly closed at 24 hours after I hadn't yet replied). Again, I would be keeping this for the filtration and superb design and compactness, but 99% of my Chinese-made devices have fewer problems than this German-made machine. Go figure.

Product is good reliable shipping is terrible
The product is quiet and easy to use. This small enough to fit on a desk without issues. Do not believe the shipping times. Ordered on the 15th was told it would arrive on the 17th, then the 18/19th and finally arrived on the 20th. they did not seem to care and only stated shipping times are 3-5 days. This is not what was stated when ordered for a gift.

This Air Purifier cleared my allergies!!!
My apartment has carpet and my allergies always act up. I am very sensitive to dust! I have bought a few air purifiers before but they have always been so loud and never really worked. This air purifier is everything that I wanted! The fan noise is barely noticeable. It has a bluetooth function and an app (you can turn off the blue light in the app if you are sensitive to light when you're sleeping). Setting up the machine was really easy. It took less than 3 minutes to set it up. Turning on the machine just takes a tap on the side and you can also tap the side to change the fan speed. It also came with a bunch of power outlets so you can use it anywhere in the world. The vertical stand is great because it can fit on my computer desk without taking much space. I will probably buy the bigger one for my living room next. Overall I am very satisfied with this air purifier and would recommend it to anyone that has allergies!

Allergies, Allergies go away!
I heard about the Atem Desk from a friend. I wasn’t sure about purchasing since I tried other air purifiers and had no success. But after some research I took the chance and it was ALL worth it! I suffer from year-round allergies and the pet dander in my home doesn’t help either, I am always sneezing. I put the Atem Desk in my home office and I can feel the difference in the air quality. The air smells clean (no off gassing) and feels overall good. I no longer am sneezing while I work, and my eyes feel so much better. It has made a significant difference. At night I place the Atem on my bedside dresser and breathe clean air as I sleep. The Atem looks beautiful with my home décor and it WORKS! I can’t say enough about this air purifier. The best part is I can travel with it. My next purchase will be the Atem Car, I can’t wait!
