I’m extremely pleased with this SONGMICS set of two heavy-duty shelving units and would happily give them five stars. They have transformed my garage storage, providing plenty of space to organise tools, storage boxes, cleaning supplies, and other bulky items that were previously cluttering the floor.Assembly was much easier than I expected thanks to the screwless design. The instructions were clear, and the shelves slotted together securely without needing any special tools. Once assembled, both units felt very sturdy and stable. The adjustable shelf heights are a fantastic feature, making it easy to customise the layout to accommodate both small and large items. The shelves are designed to support heavy loads, making them ideal for garages, workshops, utility rooms, or general household storage.The build quality is excellent, with a strong steel frame and shelves that feel durable enough for everyday use. I also like the clean black finish, which gives them a smart, professional appearance rather than looking purely industrial.Overall, this is an excellent storage solution that combines strength, flexibility, and great value for money. The two shelving units provide plenty of storage capacity while helping keep everything neat and organised. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, heavy-duty shelving for their home, garage, workshop, or utility room. Five stars!

Item was packaged well, quality is great and was easy to make up with the slot in design, once made it was very easy to manoeuvre to where I wanted it and feels study especially once items are placed onto it, variable shelf height makes storing bigger or heavier items easy, the only thing I could fault would be the plastic corner edging as if I wanted to split these units then I would be short so would scratch either the flooring it was placed on or would have sharp top corners exposed-I did not split so isn’t an issue for me. Overall a great item and great value for money! Has definitely done the job I wanted them for. Would definitely buy more of these if I needed more shed storage!

Pretty sturdy, but an absolute nightmare to assemble. I am a very experienced DIYer, but found these a real slog to assemble on my own. Between the unsupported metal parts flapping about, the risk of pinching a finger and the extreme fiddliness of getting the metal tabs to slot into the right place, I really regret buying 6 of these! The first one has taken me over an hour to assemble, and a lot of the tabs are not slotted in correctly. The mdf shelves are very thin, and would not stand up to anything other than a dry room. They also have a really strong and strange smell, overwhelmingly fishy, like kippers. The entire ground floor, where I assembled the shelves, still smells of it the next day.That said, for the price, they are pretty sturdy once the final piece is slotted into place. They are a good size and will hold a lot of stuff, although I will definitely avoids anything too heavy. The edges are also nicely finished off, reducing the risk of nasty cuts. They also provide (very flimsy) gloves, which is a nice touch.All-in-all, decent for the price and I will be delighted to have the extra storage space, but I’m dreading having to build them.

These are actually really good shelving units for the price and can handle a lot of weight on them thanks to how physics and the displacement of weight works.Yes, they are a bit fiddly to do. When fitting the shelving parts, I found it best to open the hole slightly wider (giggidy) with a screwdriver and to push the tabs so that they are slightly pointing inwards. You may have to guide the tabs into the right location, but once you have done the first few, it becomes easier.This comes with a pair of gloves as you will probably nick your fingers while doing it - that's just the nature of working with aluminium - but as long as you take your time you will be fine.You will probably swear a bit while doing this - I did - so send the kids out while you are doing it as they might tell you that your language is bad and teach you some new swear words!These are the same products that you'll pay up to £100 for, so enjoy a bargain.

The idea of a hassle-free setup sounded perfect, so I went ahead and ordered several units. Unfortunately, my experience hasn't lived up to the promise, and I need to highlight some serious flaws.🔨 Assembly ChallengesAlthough the shelves are lightweight and relatively easy to move, assembling them turned out to be much more challenging than expected. The assembly is advertised as quick and bolt-free, but it’s anything but seamless. I highly recommend having a rubber hammer and a flat, thin screwdriver on hand, which you’ll need to push the metal lips into place. After assembling a few, I managed to get the hang of it, but it still took me about an hour for each unit—not exactly what I’d call "quick."📦 Storage CapabilitiesOnce fully assembled, the shelves do hold a decent amount of weight. Initially, they look flimsy and incapable of supporting heavy items, but they do stabilize once loaded. Just a heads-up: moving them while items are on the shelves could easily damage the frame, so make sure you place them where you want them before loading them up.🌧️ MDF Shelves: A Serious ProblemNow, here's the real problem—the shelves themselves. They are made from untreated MDF, and if you’re thinking of placing them anywhere other than a dry, indoor room, you should reconsider. I installed them in my summer shed, which is adequately ventilated, with no damp issues, but the MDF shelves started attracting moisture. The untreated MDF means they are highly susceptible to mould growth, and that’s precisely what happened.Despite keeping my shed well-ventilated, I noticed cold and dampness starting to form on the shelves during the winter months. I’ve had to remove everything, wipe the shelves down with bleach, and put everything back multiple times. Even after treating the shelves with yacht varnish—which took ages and required me to remove and then replace all items—the mould kept returning.💸 Waste of Time and MoneyBetween the cost of the shelving units, the yacht varnish, and the countless hours spent scrubbing mould and reassembling, this has been an incredibly frustrating and expensive ordeal. These shelves are by no means cheap, and having to go through all this hassle just to make them functional is simply unacceptable. They are clearly not fit for purpose if they can’t be used in a shed or garage, which is precisely where most people would need this kind of storage.☠️ Health HazardThe worst part is the potential health hazard. Mould spores are dangerous, especially when airborne, and could easily lead to respiratory problems. This is a huge concern, especially since these units are supposed to provide safe and reliable storage. Instead, they’ve become a breeding ground for mould and fungus—hardly what anyone needs in their storage area.🚫 Final VerdictI would strongly advise anyone considering these shelving units to look elsewhere. They might work fine during the summer months or in a perfectly controlled indoor environment, but if you’re planning to use them in a garage, shed, or any outbuilding, prepare for disappointment. Come winter, they’ll be worthless, covered in unsightly and dangerously spreading mould. Save yourself the hassle, the expense, and the health risk—find something better suited for the job.

Was disappointed when we received these , have had Songmics before and it’s all been fine , They are not strong shelves and the metal is flimsy and they are difficult to get the shelves to slot in , I can’t be bothered to send them back and will use them for lighter things as I have better shelving for heavier stuff . On reflection I should have taken more notice of the 1 star reviews and looked for something better , they are reasonably cheap and that’s probably the best thing you can say about them , I am also concerned about the mould which quite a lot of customers have complained about as these were for an outside work shop

Came when promised,bit fiddly to put together but well worth it,knack is take your time,once assembled very sturdy,I got it in the shed and screwed it to the wall(floor uneven ) would certainly buy this again ,great seller

J'ai choisi de monter une étagère complète et de laisser la deuxième en demi pour faire un petit établi. J'ai réalisé le tout en moins d'une heure seul avec juste un petit maillet. A voir avec le temps.

Ho scelto questo set SONGMICS perché cercavo due scaffalature capienti, soprattutto profonde, per sfruttare meglio lo spazio verticale e sistemare contenitori e attrezzature di dimensioni molto diverse tra loro. Il formato da 100 cm di larghezza, 50 cm di profondità e 200 cm di altezza offre parecchio volume utile senza arrivare agli ingombri delle scaffalature industriali più pesanti.La confezione comprende due strutture complete, ciascuna con cinque livelli. Una delle caratteristiche che considero più utili è il sistema di montaggio a incastro: montanti e traverse non richiedono la classica sequenza di bulloni e dadi, perché gli elementi metallici entrano nelle relative asole e vengono bloccati battendoli delicatamente in posizione. Il primo assemblaggio richiede un minimo di attenzione per capire bene il verso dei pezzi, dopodiché il procedimento diventa piuttosto ripetitivo.Per montare bene gli scaffali consiglio comunque un martello in gomma. Non è indispensabile in senso assoluto, ma aiuta molto a far entrare completamente gli incastri senza segnare il metallo. È importante controllare che ogni linguetta sia effettivamente scesa nella propria sede: un collegamento inserito soltanto a metà può sembrare corretto a colpo d'occhio, ma riduce inevitabilmente la rigidità dell'insieme.Una volta completata la struttura la stabilità mi ha fatto una buona impressione. I profili metallici, presi singolarmente, non sembrano particolarmente massicci; è l'insieme di montanti, traverse e ripiani a conferire rigidità allo scaffale. È una costruzione tipica di questa categoria e, quando tutti gli incastri sono ben assestati, il risultato è decisamente più solido di quanto i singoli componenti possano far pensare durante il montaggio.I 50 cm di profondità sono un dettaglio tutt'altro che secondario. Rispetto ai comuni scaffali da 30-40 cm consentono di appoggiare scatole grandi, apparecchiature piuttosto profonde e contenitori senza ritrovarsi con diversi centimetri sporgenti anteriormente. Naturalmente significa anche occupare mezzo metro dalla parete, quindi prima dell'acquisto conviene misurare bene lo spazio disponibile.Mi piace molto la possibilità di decidere l'altezza dei cinque ripiani con intervalli relativamente ravvicinati. Non si è quindi obbligati alla suddivisione uniforme proposta dalle fotografie: si può lasciare molto spazio in basso per gli oggetti più voluminosi e ridurre invece la distanza fra i livelli superiori. Questa flessibilità, secondo me, vale più di un eventuale sesto ripiano fisso.All'atto pratico, anche la possibilità di dividere ciascuna scaffalatura in due elementi più bassi cambia parecchio il tipo di utilizzo. I montanti sono realizzati in sezioni che permettono di ottenere due strutture separate anziché un'unica colonna da due metri. Si perde naturalmente lo sviluppo verticale, ma si guadagna la possibilità di creare una superficie più lunga e bassa o di collocare le due metà in punti differenti.La portata dichiarata è di 120 kg per livello, 600 kg complessivi per scaffale, ma sono valori che interpreto come riferiti a carichi distribuiti correttamente e a una struttura montata su una superficie piana. Non concentrerei quindi 120 kg in un unico punto centrale del ripiano aspettandomi lo stesso comportamento. Con oggetti pesanti è molto più sensato distribuire il peso e collocare quelli più massicci nei livelli inferiori.Questo aspetto conta anche per la stabilità generale. Con due metri di altezza e solo mezzo metro di profondità un mobile caricato male può inevitabilmente diventare più facile da sbilanciare. Apprezzo quindi la presenza del sistema antiribaltamento fornito con il set: soprattutto se si intende utilizzare i livelli superiori con materiale pesante, fissare lo scaffale alla parete è una precauzione che adotterei senza pensarci troppo.I ripiani offrono una superficie continua e permettono di sistemare anche oggetti piccoli che cadrebbero attraverso una semplice griglia metallica. Non li tratterei però come se fossero pannelli strutturali indipendenti: il peso va distribuito sfruttando tutta la superficie e soprattutto il telaio sottostante. È proprio il telaio a svolgere la maggior parte del lavoro.Esteticamente siamo davanti a scaffalature essenziali, con finitura metallica argentata e nessun tentativo di trasformarle in mobili decorativi. A me va benissimo così. In un prodotto destinato principalmente all'organizzazione preferisco che spazio, regolabilità e robustezza vengano prima dell'aspetto.Ho qualche piccola riserva sulla resistenza delle superfici dei ripiani in ambienti particolarmente umidi: come per molte scaffalature di questa tipologia, eviterei il contatto diretto e prolungato con acqua e controllerei soprattutto che eventuali liquidi non rimangano assorbiti dal pannello. Non è un problema particolare di questo modello, ma è un aspetto da tenere presente nella scelta del punto in cui installarlo.Il set da due è infine interessante perché consente di creare dieci livelli complessivi oppure di riconfigurare le due strutture in più elementi bassi. È proprio questa modularità, insieme ai 50 cm di profondità, l'aspetto che trovo più riuscito: non obbliga a decidere una disposizione definitiva durante il montaggio e permette di adattare abbastanza facilmente gli scaffali al materiale che effettivamente si deve sistemare.
