It's about 3 7/8 inches from where the textured grip begins and ends. They are about 6 5/8 inches total length.

It certainly looks like stainless steel. The appearance is just like dental tools, and the performance is also similar. Good product!

Is the file sharp enough to reach the bottom part of the nail? (My ingrown nail is located pretty far down on the nail)

The file reaches from the top of my big toenail to the bottom (by the cuticle) with a little to spare. I would estimate the file to be close to an inch long. Hopefully it will work for you. I love these tools!
