Latches: One of my favorite things: the safety hinge! The lid has a slow-close mechanism that prevents it from slamming shut—total peace of mind when little fingers are around. It stays open at various angles, too, so you don’t have to prop it up manually. Size: It’s surprisingly spacious! We fit an entire zoo’s worth of stuffed animals, a bunch of Hot Wheels tracks, books, and a soccer ball, and there’s still room left. Great for keeping the floor from turning into a minefield of Legos. Weight: Heavy enough to feel durable and secure, but still light enough that I can slide it around if needed. Absolutely perfect! The wood is definitely of higher quality than many similar items on Wayfair and Amazon, the color matches the rest of our paints and picture frames in our new house, and the lid hinges went on easily. It does close a little heavy, but otherwise my 2 year old and his little sister love it! No odors, it assembled pretty quickly, and my kids love having a single space for their toys in the living room. Seems quite durable, and even the assembly was pretty accessible, my husband got it put together in about fifteen minutes. Super excited about this purchase!

I bought this to chest because it's made of solid wood. The only part that isn't solid wood is the bottom panel. My toddlers love it, and sit in it like a bath tub. My house is a lot cleaner now because the toys all have a home and my toddlers actually like putting their toys away into this toy box, whereas they always tipped their old plastic one over and wouldn't put anything into it. It looks nice too. However, I kneeled on it the other day and it made a cracking sound so if you're an adult sized person you probably shouldn't do that. (I couldn't find any damage though.) But for my children who probably weigh a combined 70 pounds or so, it's perfect. It does hold a lot of toys and closes softly. 5/5 stars. Great product.

This was a great solution for toys all over my house. Very spatious and looks nice too. I would say the size and color were true to what’s advertised. I put it together myself within 45 minutes with basic tools. I would give this five stars, except the latches that keep the lid from slamming don’t fully close so it stays open a half an inch. Could be user error. Heads up- you do have to position the latches in a certain way to get the lid on. Other users have explained as well since the directions aren’t clear.

I love this toy chest! It holds so many toys, which makes cleaning up a lot easier, and the lid stays open, so my kiddo can access her toys without worrying about it shutting on her hands. I also have it in my living room, and I love that it doesn’t look like a typical toy chest it’s aesthetically pleasing and blends in beautifully with our decor. We love this toy chest. It is the perfect size. Quite large and fits a ton of toys, but not to big to take up a lot of room in our apartment. It looks very nice and functions quite well. The hinges used are quality and they allow for very easy operation. The lid stays open in any position and never comes crashing down because the hinges hold it in place. This is a important feature because the first thing my 9 month old baby did was walk up to it, open and close the lid multiple times while taking several breaks to stick his head in the toy chest and see what is in there. This toy chest is very safe so I have no worry of it hurting my curious little baby. It is also the perfect height so our 9 month old can stand up and hold onto it, operate the lid himself, and reach a few toys that are closer to the top. The wood is a good compromise between durable hardwood and lower cost particle board. I am sure it could support children who want to sit on it and maybe a light weight adult, but it is really not designed to be used as a bench. Before this toy chest came toys were everywhere. Pilling up in corners and hard to clean up at the end of the day. We needed a toy chest so onto amazon I went. I have a few other of Melissa and Doug's products and they are all made very well and our baby has loved them. I was happy to see that they make a toy chest so I have something to contain all the toys they sold me. I think this toy chest is a good price point and uses durable enough materials to last a long time. It is also nice that it comes in different colors so that you can match your decor. Building this toy chest was very easy, anyone could do it. It only used one tool and took about 20 minutes or less. After I built it I noticed that the lid did not align well and it would crash into the side of the toy chest when I closed it. So I loosened the screws, realigned the lid and then fastened the screws. Problem was solved. It also mentions in the instructions to wait until it is full assembled before you fully fasten all the screws. I found that it was important to have the chest on level ground when fastening all the screws and not have two legs on and two legs off the carpet like I did at first. I would recommend this to anyone who has a baby or child with a lot of toys. It is really nice to have a place to put all the toys at the end of the day and also control how many toys are out in the play area at one time. I look forward to using the toy chest as a teaching tool to help my son learn how to tidy up after himself. This is great for toy storage. The lid stays exactly where you put it and the small open space between the bench and lid means no squished fingers. Lots of space and I like that it's also sturdy enough that it could be used as extra seating. It also looks nice in our living area.

I'm so glad I bought this. All the loose little toys scattered around the whole livingroom that was driving me crazy is now kept neatly in one nice sized toy chest. Very easy to put together. Love that the lid stays open no matter how small or wide you open it, so its super safe for my little girl. A bit pricey but compared to other places I've seen this at, its quite a steal. Definitely recommend if you're a neat freak like myself.

This toy chest was very easy to put together. The hinges on the lid prevent the lid from slamming down onto your hands, and the inside seems fairly spacious. I did notice while putting it together that the finish seems to mark up easily though. It's the kind of transfer mark that shows up as grey/black and is able to be mostly (but not completely) cleaned away. I could see this being a problem as our little one becomes more mobile and is tossing toys in and out of the bin. Otherwise it seems like a great product!
