An exploration of certain conspiracy theories surrounding the JFK assassination from Jack Ruby's perspective. Ruby owns a run-down strip club in Dallas, and does what he can for credibility, both by giving information to the FBI and by doing the odd favor for his mafia contacts. When hitman Action Jackson is hit, Louie Vitali asks him to help get crime boss Santos out of a Cuban jail. When they get back, the bosses take his headliner Candy Cane under their wing to develop her career in Vegas. A mysterious government man named Maxwell expresses his displeasure to Ruby over his Cuban activities. Slowly all the pieces of a massive conspiracy begin to emerge to Ruby, who can do nothing to stop it.

Didn’t buy off of amazon...
Perfectly acceptable, and watchable, conspiracy thriller based upon the true life crimes concerning Jack Ruby in Dallas in and around the autumn, fall, of 1963. Fictional, too. Because Sherilyn, Audrey Horne in Twin Peaks, Fenn is a made up damsel in distress cum headliner at Ruby’s Carousel Club, ‘Candy Cane’. Mulder appears but I don’t think that was his voice they used. Jigsaw appears, also. And the bartender is hot. That gay guy from Sex and the City plays Oswald. The infamous motorcade murder is recreated. This film is sad. But it’s also a tough slog, as it drags in places. And you know there’s no happy ending. Danny Aiello as the man himself is exemplary. It’s an hour and fifty minutes, so not three hours.

worth checking out if your into the JFK assassination.
This is a biography style film of a man called ruby,a man who killed Lee harvey Oswald on national tv shortly after JFK was assassinated by him, allegedly. It's not really a conspircay film it's more about the man himself. It's worth a watch though. This film came out after the famous Oliver Stone film JFK,which delt with the conspiracy theory more in detail.

An intriguing character study more than a conspiracy movie
There are almost as many conspiracy theories about this film as about JFK himself: locations were barred, actors dropped out and it was strongly implied that Oliver Stone and his powerful agent Michael Ovitz put unreasonable pressure on the picture to 'protect' the Kevin Costner film. On its cinema release, the film disappeared quicker than a witness in the Warren Commission - in the UK it barely lasted a week. Yet though it may lack the star power and sweep of Stone's epic, it is still a worthwhile and intriguing film.Unlike most JFK movies, Ruby doesn't bombard you with information or alternatives, but gives a plausible account of events seen through one man's eyes - in this case Jack Ruby, the small-time burlesque club owner and former hit-man who shot Lee Harvey Oswald. Less visually striking (but then overt stylistics were never John MacKenzie's strongpoint) and on a smaller scale as befits its character, to its credit it is more of a character piece than a conspiracy movie, with Aiello's central performance turning what could have been a minor film into a more interesting one. There are a couple of marvellous moments - Ruby seeking professional advice on how to hit the president of a country (Castro, not Kennedy) and set up a patsy as they pass Deeley Plaza, and the minutes leading up to the assassination when both Ruby and the stripper he has a curiously chaste relationship with suddenly realise what is happening - and a lot of very strong ones. Extremely well-crafted and building to a climax rather than constantly grabbing your attention, it has the feel of the sixties, both in the production design and the very approach of the film. A more controlled, centred film than its dazzling big-budget rival, Ruby may not be a masterpiece but it does deserve to be better known.

I watched this as im a fan of Sherilyn fenn, whilst i thought she did a good job,i found the film to be pretty boring,I dont think it'd be of any interest to anyone other than people into JFK conspiracies.
