Murky is normal at first, it goes away!!
The lava lamp is great!!PSA: to anyone who says that the liquid inside is murky and you can’t see the bubbles you just have to run it 2-3 times and the liquid clears up!!! Your item is NOT defective. All of the teeny tiny wax particles in the liquid just need to melt fully and then the liquid becomes clear. It takes multiple times running the lamp to do so. I am at about.10-12 hours now and it’s starting to become completely clear inside. The first time I turned it on it was completely cloudy. This is normal, don’t worry just keep running it!!!

Tried 2. Didn’t work.
Returning this. Was very excited that it was a “Lava” brand and the color. First one, the bulb burnt out instantly. Bought new bulbs at the recommended wattage and it ran for over 12 hours and nothing. Had to agitate it to get any flow, and even then it stalagmited and didn’t remelt. Bought ANOTHER set of bulbs at 30 watts and did the same thing. Exchanged for the same model and it did the same thing, but was extremely cloudy and after following recommendations, remained cloudy. Very disappointing. Going to try another brand.

LOVE!
I don’t usually write reviews, but this deserves one. I’ve had it for about a year now and I still love it. It has never gotten cloudy, i’ve had no color fading in the wax or liquid, and I’ve never once had a problem with overheating or any mechanical issues. It does get pretty warm if you leave it on for hours, but never hot enough to cause a fire. It was also super easy to put together, and has a super sturdy base that gives me ease of mind that it won’t fall off the shelf. Love it. You will too.

Was hesitant.
I was a bit hesitant after reading the reviews and slept on the idea of picking one of these up because the reviews aren't the greatest.I did have an issue with mine but it wasn't the end of the world. When I plugged the cable in the controller was set to turn on by default and the light bulb instantly blew. I didn't want to deal with the headache of trying to reach out for a replacement bulb so I ordered a pack of replacement bulbs and waited. They do offer a wide selection of replacement bulbs so do your due diligence to ensure you get the correct size with the correct wattage for you size of lamps should you encounter this problem.Once the bulbs I arrived I twisted a fresh one one in and switched the light on. The first cycle did take a good four hours to really get naturally flowing though I believe I have read this is common for your first cycle. I allowed the lamp to run for eight hours and the liquid did appear to be a little hazy as many others have reported but after a few eight hour cycles the liquid is crystal clear and the wax is naturally flowing in a little over an hour.Do I regret my purchase? Not at all. I can recommend a couple things! Use the Honey extension to track this products price because price does seem to trend upward before holidays and downward after. Also if you do choose to purchase, go in to it understanding it may require a little patience and a few days to get yours running how you envisioned in your mind. You also want to be aware you're purchasing something that doesn't exactly ship very well and it comes from a massive facility rushing out millions of packages. Though Amazon returns are pretty simple and hassle free.Best of luck!

Run it a few times
I’ve been a long time lava lamp enthusiast. And many people complain about the modern lamps. So far I’ve had no problems. You have to run them for several cycles to see if they work well but so far I’ve never had an issue after a few cycles

Cloudy fluid and poor quality
I bought this to replace a Lava Lamp of the same color that was about 15 years old and starting to fade. Unfortunately the new ones have really decreased in quality. The fluid in the lamp I received was very cloudy and the wax looked fuzzy. Also when the wax softened after it warmed it became a bunch of little balls that stayed up at the top of the lamp and didn't flow up and down. I returned it and ordered a replacement lamp of the same color, purple fluid and yellow wax. The replacement was exactly the same with cloudy fluid and little balls of wax staying up at the top after the lamp warmed up. Other reviewers have reported the same issues. I regret I didn't go by their reviews. I did try the suggestions offered by the manufacturer to clear up the fluid which were not successful on either of the lamps I tried. I wish Lava Lamp would go back to their previous manufacturer as those lamps were high quality and lasted for years. There are so many similar complaints like mine that Amazon should pay attention to. Does nobody other than customers read these reviews? Fortunately Amazon refunded my purchase. If I could give it no stars I would have but Amazon does not allow that. I do not recommend this lava lamp.

Trust the other reviews, it's not great...
I read the other reviews and really hoped that my lava lamp would be okay, but unfortunately I have had issues too. The water isn't cloudy (common complaint), but the lava is not "doing its thing." I think the lamp doesn't get hot enough for the lava to move. It will rise up from the bottom a bit, but the top of the lamp isn't warm enough to keep it moving. It chills at the top and stays up there. There is even wax that is now stuck at the very top. I've left it on all night and it still doesn't get/stay warm enough to work properly. I'm very disappointed.
