What is the ideal mattress thickness for the queen size bed frame?

Currently, this bed only has full and queen sizes.

When one side of the middle slats go in then it’s too short to lock in on the other side. What am I doing wrong?

Pls note don't lock one end of the ribs with a plastic buckle before installing the other end, you need to insert both ends of the ribs and then lock them with a plastic buckle.
