It's a TIG welder. It can weld almost any material you have the skills to weld. I tried weld a blade, it works perfect.

To what extent can this welder handle thinner materials, such as 1/16 aluminum commonly found in radiators?

That's more geared toward this machines abilities. I've welded a lot of 16guage up to 3/8"(where you need water cooling) to be efficient. So far the only issue I've had from this machine was from pulling from a diesel welder at work and the voltage is about 270V. The machine gave me an E code. On anything that has a steady 220v to 240v it has been solid.
