This is a really useful little tool and ended up being one of those purchases I’m very glad I made. I bought it when we purchased a new house and needed to measure rooms before moving in to figure out furniture placement. It worked extremely well for that. You really can’t rely fully on listing measurements, and this made it quick and easy to get accurate numbers without having to move around the previous owner’s furniture. That alone made a big difference. It saved time and also avoided that awkward feeling of trying to shift things around just to measure. The device itself is compact and very easy to figure out. The controls are straightforward, and it works quickly once you get started. I’ve found myself using it regularly for different projects because it’s so convenient. It definitely outperforms a traditional tape measure in many situations, especially when measuring longer distances or full rooms. That said, it doesn’t completely replace a tape measure. There are still times where you need a straight edge or more hands-on measuring for certain tasks. I like it. I ordered this and a few others to test them against each other. The other measuring devices had few too many buttons for way to many functions. It sounded cool at first but once I got the things they were way too complicated. The BOSCH on the other hand is simple. It's only got a couple functions and it works instantly and works like a charm. I was pleasantly surprised by the functionality of the simplicity. If that makes sense. It's also nice and small and easy to carry in your pocket or tool pouch. Out of all of the ones I tested I ended up keeping the BOSCH.

Great price, easy to use, and very accurate. We have been building floor plans for our home with accurate dimensions so that we can work out a remodel plan. This tool made it so much easier to get these dimensions without requiring a steel tape or even a second person. The only thing that was a little harder to do was outdoors. The sunlight and the increased distances I tried to measure made it hard to see the laser dot but a second person was able to help me sight it in to the correct location. The device also has a nice flat bottom that allows me to hold it squarely on the wall to get an accurate dimension (the tool takes into account it's own dimension automatically).

I’ve used this extensively for residential appraisals, and it’s been extremely accurate and reliable. It’s much faster than dragging a tape measure around a house, especially when measuring large rooms or exterior walls. The display is easy to read, measurements are quick, and it’s simple to switch between units. It’s compact enough to carry in my appraisal bag and the battery life has been excellent. I use this laser measure for architectural surveying to create asbuilt floor and ceiling plans. I work alone and use a laser measure and a sturdy 25' measuring tape. For 10 years I had been using a very premium but heavy bricked sized Leica measuring laser, until I met a contractor in the field who had a pocket sized laser like this. I was surprised at how small they were, and in the last couple years, how affordable they were. So I made the jump and purchased a different laser from this one two years ago. However, its battery life was a little sporadic, there were a lot of features I didn’t need, and it could only measure to a 1/16 of an inch, which is more than I need. You could also change the reference point of where the laser measures from (moving it from the rear of the laser to the front). This is not helpful when you can change it without realizing it. So recently I was researching newer lasers, since I was not satisfied and I found this GLM100-23. I spent time comparing it to some of the more expensive Bosch lasers, like the one with the green beam, but eventually decided this one. I measured with it yesterday and was so pleased with it. I love the fact you can adjust the fraction amount to what you need – gone was my mental math to assign a decimal value to 1/16ths of an inch (its faster to write down the decimal than the fraction). The screen showed one measurement at a time, but was so legible! The other laser had a screen that would time out and then it became hard to read. This laser has white numbers against a black screen that doesn’t time out! The laser is so small and lightweight, you can easily hold it and the tablet at the same time. Lastly, the reference point for the laser can’t change, so there’s no way to fudge up the measurements you need. Overall this laser is EXACTLY what I needed. Also, a note: the "click wheel" is an internally displayed menu that allows you to change the measurement option (from feet, to inches, to centimeters, to millimeters, and then feet as displayed 0'-00"). You access it by long pressing the fraction button.

The good thing about this Bosch GLM 20 is that it’s compact and less complexed. For people who need Just 1 button to tell the distance.
