Razer Tartarus V2 Left-Handed Gaming Keypad, 32 Programmable Keys, Black

Seems to work well. I've played some World of Warships with it so far. The Synapse 4 software is a bit harder to understand than the Synapse 2. I didn't even know there was a Synapse 3 but they don't support either the Syn 2 or Syn 3 any more. I've used Razor Tartarus V1 and Razor Orbweaver Chroma as an upgrade when they came out. So been using them like 20 years now. A really good piece of gaming hardware. This one is really smooth feel on the switches with not as much travel as the Orbweaver. Not sure why they put a scroll wheel on this one as everyone uses a mouse now days and well. Almost every mouse I've seen has one and it's mentally programed into my brain. I could of used that extra key as V is used a lot in space flight sims and other games cause its under the W,A,S,D keys and that key is programmable to any on the keyboard. The scroll wheel not so much. Why Razor? The change was not needed. That being said. This is a perfect fit if you have keyboard that doe not have indented keys like some laptops. And even if not it will save you destroying your laptop keys with the heavy use of gaming. It keeps you from getting lost in finger placement while playing. I can't play without it after 20 years of use. It's just natural to me. So I'll say buy this one. It is a really quality build. And if it last as long as my Orbweaver which is over 15 years old now and still works well. I even gave this one 5 stars. Razor builds good keypads and equally good keyboards. Enjoy it. You'll be hooked.

I am loving this thing. I have always been a controller guy until I bought Doom Eternal, and it was obvious from the very first level that this game was made with mouse and keyboard in mind and I decided it was time to make the switch and I'm really glad I did. I stopped playing the game and waited for this to arrive, along with the Corsair Harpoon gaming mouse. It took A LONG time to start feeling comfortable with the new set up but once it started to click it made all the difference in the game. The learning curve for me was huge, maybe the biggest one I've had to go through in decades for gaming, but it was worth it. This keypad is great. I bought this used from a seller here, something I don't normally do but the price was more than half off the new price and I knew it was a gamble that I might not take to it and go back to controller, which would have made this a waste of money. I feel like I got lucky, the used product of this looks brand new and is in great shape, and since it worked out and I ended up loving the keypad it was money well spent. I specifically went with the Tartarus because I really liked the idea of having the thumb stick, and I feel like that was a good move. In Doom Eternal, now I can control the Slayer in a way I'm already familiar with while freeing up the rest of the keyboard and my fingers to the different melee attacks and switching equipment. That way I don't have to move my fingers all over the keyboard as I normally would have had to, fumbling around hoping I hit the right keys. The learning curve was huge for sure and for awhile, I probably put in enough time in the first three levels over and over again trying to get accustomed to the new control style as it would take someone else to actually beat the entire campaign, but once it all clicked, I can't imagine playing a game like this any other way and I already knew from the first level that a controller was a huge disadvantage. In regards to the quality of the actual device- it's solid. The keys all have a great feel and click to them, and the thumb stick has the exact same feel. It feels like pushing a key on the board with the mechanical click and all in every direction, it's great feedback to know you're pushing it in the right direction and for learning how to use it. It's also very comfortable to use, and the wrist rest beneath the keyboard reduces any normal strain I would feel by hovering my hand over a typical keyboard. And lastly if you care, the rgb lighting on this is good and bright and every color in the rainbow is represented just fine. I don't care that much about this, but I know some freaks do so there you go. To summarize, this purchase was worth every penny. The keyboard is solid, it feels solid, it is quality. The thumb stick works great and I really struggle to find anything to complain about here. I can see this falling short on games with tons of keybinds, and Doom Eternal is really pushing it in that regard, but it still worked out great with just enough keys to accommodate all the things you need to do. Purchasing this along with a gaming mouse has changed the way I play a game like this and for the better. Highly recommended, especially if you can get one at the used price I did if it shows up at your door in the condition mine did. On a quick side note I do want to point out that Windows 10 by default had this keypad configured to shut down randomly to preserve power in the device settings. You're going to want to figure out how to go into the USB options and make sure to uncheck the box letting Windows do that because if you don't this will disconnect randomly out of nowhere for like fifteen seconds here and there, and obviously that is not ideal unless you like losing due to some technical crap.

I have been through every stage of this products life cycle. This is the 4th or 5th version of what was the Belkin N52. I personally started with the Belkin n52te (tournament edition) And I loved it. So much so that to this day I cant game without a left handed device. It drastically increases your performance in gaming due to it allowing you to feel more comfortable in your key presses and locations. After I used the old product for 10 years I decided to upgrade because it was slowly losing compatibility. Belkin had sold the product to Razer a while back and they made the TERRIBLE Tartarus v1. That thing looked amazing and I was finally going to upgrade away from my old N52te. But 2 weeks after getting it the thumb flap snapped off. Razer thought it would be a good idea to incorporate a flimsy flap instead of the supported thumb button you see like on this current V2 model. 2 Weeks and it broke. I exchanged it. 1 month later that one broke. A week after that the one my sons broke too. Terrible design flaw. So I went back to the n52te and waited. I complained and wrote reviews everywhere I could on the terrible quality of the other one. Finally Razer releases this version 2. So.. What they did right. They removed the mouse wheel from the n52te and replaced it with another button. Perfect.. needed that. They went back to the supported thumb button for the space bar. Perfect. They went back to the D-Pad on the thumb area instead of a multi directional wheel. Amazing because that other directional wheel essentially removed buttons cause you couldn't pick a single direction when you wanted to. It was terrible. If it wasnt broke.. dont fix it. They tried to fix it and failed and reverted back. this was the best decision they could have made. They also went the extra mile and added a whole extra row of 5 buttons on the top. This threw me way off. Here I have been using the same device for 12 years and now im hitting all the wrong keys cause there is an extra row. It took some getting used to for my hand to get the muscle memory of the new row but I eventually did. Its solid now and more versatile than ever cause I have so many extra buttons. Before I was always missing like 1 ability I needed to add to the device but couldnt figure out what to take off of the configuration. This is perfect cause now I always have 2 to 3 extra buttons that are not doing anything. Always better to have too much than not enough. They also added RGB support which is complete preference but it is customizable and looks rather decent honestly. If thats one thing razer does well its their lights. LOL. The bad part about this device is that the software is now razer synapse 3. And everyone who is a gamer knows that razer software is GARBAGE. Like dont get me wrong.. it functions its just not polished at all. Not to mention teh settings application pops up when you start your computer even though you tell it not to. Its layout editor leaves a lot to be desired and its Profile system takes forever to update. On the n52te that thing had onboard memory so you could store a profile or 3 on the device itself. You cant do that anymore which is a complete trash decision by Razer. On board memory meant I could plug that thing in anywhere and it would remember my key layout without having any software installed. Anytime I want to use my Razer tartarus I have to install the software if it isnt on that computer already. So... Pros. -More buttons than previous model -Scroll Wheel removed -D pad is back -Thumb button is supported again -Original round top button for thumb area (instead of crappy triangle one) -RGB looks rather good due to its layout under the buttons. -You can make tons of macos and save them to individual keys (example... if you play minecraft and are familiar with the /home command you can make a macro that will push / then h then o..m...e and then press enter and save that and place it all on one button. You can record longer macros that do all kind of things. I had one set to Teleport me to my sons location by name all in one button and all he had to do was accept the request and I was there.) Cons -NO ONBOARD MEMORY (reason for 4 stars instead of 5) -Requires Razer Synapse 3 be installed to use. (If there was onboard memory I could only open this program when I needed a new profile.. thus allowing me to still give a 5 star rating but this program is enough of a reason to lose a star itself. ) -Macro editor was easier to use in the past but the functionality is the same still -Profile editor was easier to use in the past -Profile cloud updating can be slow and often required a manual refresh in the settings. (this is really only an issue if you make a profile on one computer and want to use it on another computer. It can take a minute to get the profile to show up. It would almost be quicker just to remake the profile) -No ability to upload profiles from the profile file (The ability is there.. says you can do it.. just doesnt work. Remember what I said about Razer Synapse 3 being garbage? yeah!) -Razer Synapse 3 pops up on its own about a minute after you start windows. (Usually when you are doing something else. Really annoying. Usually wouldnt matter but since its required to use this device its getting reviewed too. The setting to have it startup in the task bar doesnt do anything. ) -No hand area adjuster like every model before it has had. Shame. So once you step back and really look at this device you will realize that the majority of the problems come from its software. The device itself is really quite good. The major issues being lack of onboard memory and the hand rest adjuster no longer being available as of this model. EVERY OTHER ISSUE is a result of the poor software. Once you get past the software aspect of it this device is really good and you wont need to get into the software very often. Creating new profiles for a game is basically it and once you are done you can hide it away back in the taskbar and never see it again until you start playing a new game. The profiles can even be linked to specific games so it will auto switch for you. Or you can manually switch it from the task bar menu. Hopefully one day Razer will hire some decent programmers and the software issue will be fixed.. Then the only thing holding this back from a 5 start will be onboard memory. Maybe v3 can get onboard memory and the hand adjuster back and the device itself will be perfect in every way. I do highly recommend this product. It will change your gaming life. Its just teh minor software inconveniences that really hold it back.

After going through THREE Huion K20 keypads, all of which failed the same way (zoom/scroll wheel), I decided to try something new. I'm more of a keypad kind of guy rather than a Tour Box guy, so I decided to give this a try. After a month, ao far so good. Going from the K20 to the Tartarus has been relatively easy with minimal learning curve. More than enough keys for all of my shortcut needs with room for more. Keys feel great and responsive, scroll wheel is excellent, and my hand doesn't get too tired after extended sessions. If you're an artist, prefer defined keys over the TourBox form factor, don't want to pay the herty cost for a TourBox, and don't want to gamble with cheap products the Tartarus is exactly what you're looking for.

this review is written after 6 months of use, roughly. here are my pros and cons, not in order at all :) (April 2025 update: just added a 4 years later update at the end. I love this thing.) this is super nice for what i needed it for (a smaller gaming space), and i love the membrane keys, but i have made a few modifications to this to make it (in my opinion) better. they are fairly easy. 1: i added a riser for the space bar. its WAY to low to comfterbly use, same for the 4 way d pad. i dont really use the d pad anyways, so having the riser didnt get in the way. it just brings the button up to a managable, and comfterable height for me. 2: i removed the devices that made the keys click. i ordered the membrane keys with this because i like both how they feel, respond, and sound (laptop user, so im used to them and like the quiet.) however, when this came all the buttons still made a very audible clicking noise. took me 5 seconds to take off the keycaps and realise there were literally some metal spring switches in each switch that were JUST there to make sound for the typical gamer who wants that 'click'. i ordered membrane keys, and they came with a fake click lol. promptly removed that, and now they are silent, have just the right amount of resistance before giving way, and just enough travel distance to be noticed. imo, they are really good membrane keys once you remove that metal insert in each key. few other things to add: i love this keyboard, having used it for around 6 months now. the immense amount of things you can rebind they keys to (pretty much any computer function you can think of, not just keyboard related things. you can rebind up to f24 if the normal function keys arent enough for you lol), and if you dont have enough keys to do the job, there is the option to set one of the keys to a razer hypershift key which doubles your available keys, in effect. in fact, the button above the d pad is just for that. very useful! and for those mentioning comfort, i have used this for 16 hours straight at one point and my hand was not sore at all. this was after making my ergonomics adjustments, so im imagining if i didnt have that riser on the spacebar, or used the d-pad, my thumb would have been sore. but the main 19 buttons on the keypad + the scroll wheel are in the perfect spots for me. Alright, April 2025 update: this thing is amazing and I'm never going back to a typical keyboard for gaming. Iveade a few more ergonomic changes in the years since, and put the metal clickers back in a few keys as they do give the keys a better break than standard membrane keys have, so better tactile feedback, but otherwise things are unchanged. Hardware, software, general user experience, learning curve are all great. Especially that last point: if your afraid of getting this as you don't want to have to relearn how to game with this, you don't. The default key map is the left half of your keyboard up to the cfr key row (vertically), which covers the majority of commonly used inputs for gaming except for grenade which is typically G. The key layout is just like a standard keyboard, with the main difference being on the thumb buttons. But having only one main difference, it's easy to focus on that and learn it in a few days. (or a single day if your a madlad.) Thinking of upgrading to the starters v2 pro myself, as this is my primary gaming input device (covering keyboards, controllers, and HOTAS here) and has been ever since I got it. Wrist pads worn out a bit now but other than that it's still going strong.

The Razer Tartarus V2 is a tough review for me. It really is a 1 of 1 product that does a lot of things right, but also some key things wrong. I want to give Razer constructive criticism so they keep trying to improve this device and not ditch it completely, but I also want them to know that there are some slight improvements to be made. I used this item for a couple weeks to see if I could get used to the feel of it. I wanted to see if this was something that I could realistically see myself gaming on exclusively. First off, the build quality is top notch, and the ergonomics are mostly fantastic. I bought the Tartarus V2 mainly for the D-Pad on the side of the unit (even though they have a cap on it to make it look like an analog stick). I think using WASD for gaming is really counter-intuitive when those keys could be freed up for something like a joystick. Preferably a joystick over a D-Pad, but I guess they work mostly the same. In the case of the Tartarus V2, the D-Pad seems to fuction properly, and it's relatively easy to program once you figure things out in the software, but something still feels... missing. It's incredibly clicky, and it just doesn't feel like something I want to continue using. The cap on top of the D-Pad doesn't make much better since it is mostly uncomfortable after long use, and is quite slippery in the heat of the moment. If they throw a controller-quality analog stick there in place of the D-Pad, then I'm probably singing the praises of this hardware and keeping the product. But I just can't get over how much I don't enjoy that slippery little D-Pad. There is also a scroll wheel, but the wheel seems a little forgotten and inconvenient to use. The software isn't too bad, but at first I was really confused on how to navigate it. Turns out running the software in windowed mode made things more difficult than if it was in fullscreen mode, which was a weird thing for me to figure out. The white version, which I would have preferred to fit my build, was more expensive than the black, which is also something that feels unecessary. However the RGB options were great, and the customizability was pretty endless if that's something that you're looking for. Lastly, it was great that every single button on the device could be changed to whatever I wanted, and even disabled if needed. So as you can see, a lot of good and bad sprinkled everywhere on this thing. Realistically, if you've done enough research on something like this, then you probably know that this is one of the best affordable options out there for a gaming pad. Large companies like Logitech have completely abandoned this market when there is still so much potential to be had. So until either Razer keeps developing and improving this product (make V3 have an analog stick PLEASE), or some other option comes out for a WASD improvement (like maybe the Gaming Mod Kits keyboard joystick), I think I'm stuck sticking with the standard M&K controls for now. Edit: So after checking out Prime Day, the Tartarus V2 was discounted form $80 to $50. On top of that, I had some promotions to bring this item down to about $40 after tax, meaning I decided to give this thing another shot. Like I said in my review, lots of good and bad qualities about it, but for the cheap price of $40, this is a great piece of hardware. For $85 after tax, I probably would opt not to have it. So for the sole reason that this item is more than half off (after tax), I re-purchased it. Like I said, for this field of products, this is the best you can find right now, and it's 100% worth that $40-$50 range.

This is peak. I have been a console gamer my whole life. Buying a PC was a major step for me. Learning how windows works, how to download games, and most importantly how I play. One of my reasons for not switching to PC was the control scheme. Keyboards seemed so daunting. Endless keys, having to reach far away keys, and wrist pain. The Razer Tartarus v2 is single handedly the best way to learn mouse and keyboard. For my console friends there is a D-pad/Analog stick you can map the WASD keys to for a fluid transition from controller gaming. Over 20 mappable keys with an option to add even more with the “Hypershift” feature. Allowing you to add an entirely separate control scheme for those games that seemingly use up the entire keyboard. After a week I am in love. I find myself wanting to use this keypad instead of my controller because it feels so nice. Which brings me to my next point. Ergonomics. As a gamer with arthritis, this is way more comfortable than a controller. Allowing my hand to sit in a natural position with included wrist support. My friends it truly cannot get better than this. Buy it. Your hand and wrist will thank you later.

Like many older games who purchased this device, I used to have a Logitech G13 Gameboard that I miss dearly. I used the heck out of it since 2012, and ten years later it finally broke. Logitech not only discontinued it, but they didn't replace it as of this writing. Want to find a new one in box? I only have some minor gripes. Razer Chroma Software The Razer software that you have to install can be a little touchy. When I first installed it, it had some annoying notifications, but luckily these can be silenced. Since then I have had no more popups. The only issue now is one out of a hundred times, it just doesn't start up with my MSI Gaming laptop. So I am already in game and this Razer game board is glowing a billion colors...but the program didn't start up so the game board is in default mode. As you might imagine, this thing is meant to be customized...most will not want to use it with the default keys. Razer Tartarus So yeah, worth the money and works as advertised. It has withstood some bumps and bruises as is common in gaming, and is none the worse for the wear. The construction is really solid, and I appreciated that you can change the position of the palm pad for bigger hands (this is a MUST). My main issue here is that I kind of which the pad could be made for even bigger hands. I have normal man hands (I have difficulty playing with the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode...my hands are killing me after 15-20 mins) So, surely there are many gamers with bigger hands than I. I imagine those people would be a bit uncomfortable with this thing. Razer, are you listening? If you pick one of these up, you will not be disappointed. If you are coming from the Logitech G13, the Razer has fewer buttons, is physically smaller, and seems to be made for smaller hands. But you don't have a lot of choices in the world of game boards. Die Tasten haben nach meinem Empfinden einen langen Weg bis zum Druckpunkt. Beim Tastendruck entsteht ein deutlich hörbares Geräusch, ich finde es laut. Die Beleuchtung ist mMn. Unsinn und störend. Aber das ist natürlich Geschmackssache. Weil es hin und wieder bei Berührung aufleuchtet, wenn ich es nicht spiele, habe ich es oft abgezogen. Die Software zum Konfigurieren finde ich sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig. Manche Begriffllichkeiten erschließen sich mir nicht. Treiber und Software laufen zuverlässig und machen keinerlei Probleme im Betrieb (Windows 10). Das Handbuch zum Pad (PDF) ist leider für mich an vielen Stellen zu oberflächlich. Die angepriesenen "Mecha-Membranentasten" scheinen aber normalem Spielbetrieb nicht stand zu halten. Ein Bekannter der sein Pad fast zeitgleich kaufte, hatte es bereits wegen einer toten Taste in Garantie. Bei mir ist jetzt nach 6 Monaten ebenfalls eine Taste am Daumenjoystick funktionslos (tot). Von anderen Kunden habe ich die gleiche Problematik auch schon gelesen, sogar hier in einer Rezi. Ich rechne damit, dass auf mein Pad ganz knapp aus der Garantie raus ist, wie bei einem Kunden hier. In dem Fall werde ich kein Pad mehr von Razer kaufen, obwohl ich mich gut an das Gerät und die Software gewöhnt habe. Bewertung mit nur einem Stern, weil: Ich meine, bei einem schon recht beachtlichen Preis für nur 20 Tasten und einen Daumenstick - im Vergleich zu einer vollständigen gaming-Tastatur - ist die gebotene Qualität zu schlecht, für meine Ansprüche. 6 Monate Lebensdauer für ein Gaming-Produkt ist zu wenig. Mein vorheriges Gamepad eines anderen Herstellers hatte immerhin um 4 Jahre gehalten und war im Preis günstiger. Nur weil es nicht mehr hergestellt wird und Razer überall positiv dargestellt wurde, habe ich mich zum Kauf entschieden. Die Entscheidung war für mich nicht positiv.

El teclado se siente un tanto ligero pero no deja de ser robusto. Funcionalidad: - Las funciones que se pueden asignar a las teclas son bastantes y funcionan de manera correcta. - El poder tener diferentes perfiles con las teclas personalizadas de diferentes formas ayuda demasiado y siento que es el punto fuerte del producto; hasta el momento yo tengo un perfil para programar, otro para diseño en illustrator (si lo juntas con un digitalizador con pluma es una barbaridad la mejora del trabajo), un perfil lo tengo para gaming. COMODIDAD: El producto es cómodo de usar, tiene una almohadilla para reposar la muñeca y junto con el diseño dan un buen soporte a la mano. En mi caso, el teclado es un poco grande para el tamaño de mis manos por lo que alcanzar los botones de la fila superior me es complicado; sin embargo, el acceso a las demás filas de botones es bueno. Los botones se sienten bien al dar click. EXTRAS: La personalización de los efectos de luz es buena en cuanto a hay demasiados colores y esquemas de movimiento para usar, sin embargo, cuando comfiguras teclas con diferentes colores, la luz de estas se mezcal y no es tan fácil diferenciar el color. El cable es se siente de buena calidad, tiene un largo bueno para uso en escritorio y soporta bien los dobleces.
