can't imagine anything it lacks
Brilliant web cam.The picture quality is excellent (so people on the other end of my skype line tell me), it is easy to install, the USB microphone is surprisingly effective (also according to people on the other end of my skype line), and it comes with a number of fun features that will certainly entertain you the first time you will look at them (after which you will probably forget about them, but that's how these things go!).Hardware-wise, I find it quite good-looking, and it feels like quality, nice and solid. It sits somewhat awkwardly on top of my LCD monitor, and looks like it will fall each time I sneeze, but I have been using it for 2 years and it hasn't moved a mm. Even when I moved my table around to vacuum my carpet back to its original colour behind it.So, maybe a bit more towards the high-end of the webcams, but it definitely feels like quality, and makes you look much sharper. I would buy the same again (except I don't need to: it just works!).

Curate's Egg or Snow White's Apple?
On the whole, I'd say I'm pleased with the Logitech 525HD which I purchased as a replacement for a Logitech C120 of many years' service. It arrived very promptly, well packaged and was simple to set up and mount atop my monitor. The 525HD produces a crisp looking image with a good range of adjustment and the integral microphone picks up impressively. As such, this webcam has greatly enhanced my Skype communications. On the less rosy side, however, mine seems to have come with "anti-vanity" driver software, whereby an attempt to open the "Quick Capture" feature (perhaps to check image alignment, or maybe to sneak a wicked Selfie) can result in a blue screen and reboot scenario. It doesn't happen every time (maybe one time in ten) and probably wouldn't ever happen to Snow White, but I find it a little disconcerting. It has not, so far, occurred during a conversation and the conflict may well be more a Windows 7 issue, but it does rather take the shine off an otherwise five star product.

The C525 is the hands down best camera you will find in this pricerange
I've been wanting a webcam for a few month, so I did my research:The C525 is the hands down best camera you will find in this pricerange.Pros:- Crisp and beautiful looking picture (Note that your picture quality might be severely reduced in quality during skype conversations and similar if your internet upload rate is very low!)- Plug and play, works perfectly with Skype.- Reasonably good auto focus and face recognition- Decent microphone- Easily the best overall quality camera you will find in this pricerange. Expect to go up by about 15 gbp to find something comparable.Cons:- The camera stand does not mount too well on a thick monitor such as my 144 hz gaming monitor. It works perfectly with laptops and "normal thickness" monitors.* Clever and practical mounting stand- protective case combination.

SET UP Software
Having a C525 Webcam on my first PC working well I bought this second one for my other PC. Unfortunately the setup instructions were almost none existent and trying the software download fromLogitech realised a different app to that on my first PC. this second software is not the same and the features are less inferior. I have not been able to find out why (to date)

Logitech C525 HD Webcam
After many years of excellent service my old Logitech webcam failed, still I couldn't complain as I had used it continually over the years and it gave me excellent serviceWell it was time for a replacement and I decided on another Logitech, but which model and at what price as I was certain webcams had advanced greatly over the past few yearsThe Logitech C525 HD Webcam received very good reviews and I couldn't believe my luck when I found this one on Amazon at a knock down price and a fraction of the cost that some sellers were askingThe quality is excellent and my family in NZ who Skype us regularly not forgetting my family here in the UK have all remarked on the improvement of the picture quality..............certainly an excellent budget webcam

its (just) a good webcam.
inexpensive, does what it needs to, pretty good picture quality and very little lag in refreshing the image. painless P&P installation, is instantly recognized by Skype / W7. rating of 4/5 is because it's just a webcam, it was never meant to do exceptional stuff in the first place. would recommend to anyone as a Skype cam.

An Excellent Webcam
This is an excellent little webcam. The picture quality is very good and it works well with Skype on my PC (it is nice too not to have to fiddle with a headset and microphone for each conversation). The microphone is sensitive and sitting a metre or so from the camera, speaking normally it picks up my voice just fine. It will also pick up voices of other people in the same room. The camera is light and sits comfortably on top of the monitor with just a gentle pressure in its clamp to keep it attached. I have a pair of speakers placed behind the monitor and get no problems with feedback. The camera works well even in low light and produces a natural colour balance when the "RightLight" setting is enabled. I have not changed many of the settings but the picture zoom works fine, and when zoomed the camera view may be moved up and down using its software without having to touch the webcam. An orange LED to the left of the camera lens shows when you are being filmed, which is nice to know. In my case on Windows 7 it worked straight out of the box - a great little camera which I can highly recommend.

Permanently in soft focus, this is nowhere close to HD
I was hoping for great things after such good reviews and prior use of other Logitech products, but sadly the pictures are never quite in focus; always just slightly blurred, even at 8 MP and using manual or auto-focus. It just isn't even as good as my old cheapo product. I do like the software being able to zoom in and out and pan/tilt, though!
