Q: do I need to apply this everyday?

You'll but o wouldn't advise it. I'm Spanish so my hairs thick and wavy . I use this to tame the curls on my side. It works fine for about 3-4 days even with washing my hair. The smell is strong I have to admit that but if you can get past it you'll be fine. If you don't wash your hair everyday like I do I could see this holding longer than a week

Q: can you use it to get curly hair ?

Yea, you can use it for curly hair as well. Just make sure your hair is straightened with the product when you apply.

Q: Can you apply this to the top of your head? For example: If my top hair is very poofy, can I perm it down to create a combover with less volume?

I would not recommend it. The result may not be what you thought it would be. Your hair will really stick to the skin of you head.
