Every time I cut it leaves an impression of the die on the plastic sheet that you're supposed to sandwich with. Looks like damage, is this normal

the plastic sheet will eventually look as though it has been run over by a very large herd of very angy elephants.that is fine as long as it is still one piece of plastic just ignore it.if it sort of bends turn it over before it gets very bent to encourage it to stay flat.of couse at somepoint it willwear out but the could be years. depending on how much you use it.but if you are not running a factory and you do not really forse things throughyou should be looking at years of wear.i do find no more shims helps as you dont have to mess about getting things packed to workbut that will not affect marks on your platehope this helpsask anything else edward

Does it only use Sizzex dies? I used a different make and ended up with a perfect etching on the perspex plate?

You can use other die's in the machine and all, including sizzix will etch into the plates. I try to use only the same plate for the cutting edge so you can make the most out of the plates before eventually buying new ones

If i have a relevant die and fabric have i everything to start cutting my fabric when i take it out of box? sylvia

Yes, the machine comes with cutting plates and the platforms.

Is it necessary to use a C plate when die-cutting?

The Sizzix Big Shot does not use plates labelled A, B and C as the Cuttlebug does. The Big Shot comes with a Multipurpose Platform and 2 cutting plates. If you are asking if you must use a cutting plate when die cutting, then the answer is yes. Your die and paper, card stock or other material for cutting, is sandwiched between these 2 cutting plates. Depending on the type of die you are using you will either put this sandwich on the platform using Tab 1 or 2 and run through the Big Shot or with the Bigz dies, put the sandwich directly through the machine.

FUMING!!!

This is a really expensive item and I was so annoyed to find the one provided to me looks to be used! The plates have scuffs and scratches on both of them. The handle has glue residue on it from sticky tape by the looks of it. It was also missing a washer that was needed for the handle. This was a retirement gift for my Mom as she wanted to get back into her card making. Imagine my horror and sheer embarrassment when I watch her open it up only to find it looks like a used return! 😡

Wish I had read more reviews. This broke first use and when I read all the reviews I realised I wasn’t the only one with this problem. Returned to Amazon and won’t be buying sissix stuff again

Die beste Stanzmaschine ever...

Ich habe geradezu einen Verschleiß an Stanzmaschinen, doch die Big Shot ist nicht nur der Klassiker, sondern auch das Beste Produkt am Markt. Ich habe schon viele verschiedene Stanzmaschinen durchprobiert, vor allem aber die kleineren Stanzmaschinen von der Sidekick über die von Rayher und die Double Do. Bei der Big Shot stimmt einfach alles, die hält einiges aus, auch dank der Zahnräder aus Metall. Dies ist meine dritte Big Shot. Meine erste Big Shot war gebraucht gekauft und hielt bei mir noch 5 Jahre durch, und das obwohl ich damit professionell Karten und Kartenschmuck damit produziere!!! Die zweite Big Shot war auch gebraucht gekauft, aber die wurde nie beim vorherigen Besitzer verwendet (noch original verpackt), dadurch war sie vermutlich schnell verharzt und es ging nix mehr. Nun habe ich hier eine gebrauchte "wie neu" gekauft und bin bis hier erstmal sehr zufrieden. Hinweis: Die Maschinen sind alle nicht für den gewerblichen Betrieb konzipiert, die Big Shot jedoch kommt ganz dicht daran ein Profigerät zu sein 😉

Perfect for letter pressing

Used this to letterpress my save the dates! Was very easy to use / move around. The only thing is the handle screw was missing so it kept coming off but besides that it worked great. Used the accessories it came with to practice as it comes with so many!!
