Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L Backpack Review – Plus, Fitting an ROG G22CH Mini PC Inside
I’ve been using the Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L for a few months now, its been hiking with me, been to Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Philippines, and I have to say—it’s a solid travel backpack with a great balance of structure, storage, and comfort. It’s designed more for travel than everyday carry, but it still works surprisingly well for a variety of uses. The backpack feels sturdy, has plenty of compression straps, and carries comfortably even when loaded up. Build & Comfort The material feels tough and durable, which is great if you’re carrying expensive gear inside. The shoulder straps and hip belt are well-padded, and the design allows for a snug fit when adjusted properly. The zippers are solid, and the clamshell opening makes packing and accessing stuff super easy. Storage & Organization For a 30L pack, it’s surprisingly spacious. The main compartment is roomy, and the side compression straps help keep everything compact. The front organization pocket is great for small essentials like cables, chargers, or a notebook. There's also a dedicated laptop compartment that fits a large laptop without issues. Fitting the ASUS ROG G22CH Mini PC Inside Now, here’s the interesting part—I was able to fit my ROG G22CH mini PC inside! This was a bit of an after thought because I was actually going to return the PC after my 2 week trip, but it actually fits and worked better than expected (So I'm keeping it :P). The main compartment is deep enough to fit the G22CH lying flat. The internal compression straps help keep it secured so it doesn’t shift around. There’s enough extra space to pack cables, a power brick, and a keyboard if needed. The padded structure of the backpack gives some protection, though I’d still be cautious when carrying fragile electronics. If you’re traveling with a gaming PC but don’t want to lug around a huge case, this backpack makes it doable. The fit isn’t ultra-snug, but it’s stable enough for safe transport if handled carefully. --- Final Thoughts If you need a compact yet spacious travel backpack that can even carry something as odd as a mini PC, the Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L is a great choice. It’s well-built, comfortable, and versatile. Whether you’re packing for a trip, carrying work essentials, or—even better—lugging around a compact gaming rig, this bag holds up well.

Excellent backpack - a little different than others
This backpack is probably different from what you're used to. It does exactly what it says it will do and it seems to be extremely well made. This is an excellent travel backpack. I was getting ready to travel for about a month. My old backpack is worn out and has too many outside accessible areas where people could easily get into it or steal items out of it. This one is more buttoned up. It did very well on my trip. Pockets/sections: it has 3 main pocket areas and a pockets inside one section, and a smaller pocket on the top which is inside the main section. (Probably not describing this well.) All the areas are easy to access. I hesitate to say the storage is surprisingly large, because 30L is 30L. But it seems to hold a lot of stuff. My favorite things: the straps stow away! This is fantastic. When you get on a plane and want to put this under a seat (ugh - airplane floors are disgusting) or in the overhead you get pack up all the straps. It's a little fiddly to get them in and out, but this is minor. It's about 20 seconds to store them and 5-10 seconds to get them out. This is a HUGE feature for me. You can store the shoulder straps and the waist strap separately, so you don't need to get out both. This is just fantastic. The laptop/document slot at the very back of the backpack is excellent. it securely and safely holds a laptop, note books, or other items in a thin compartment. I could not be happier with this feature. The two larger pockets/sections are nice and can be filled up with whatever you want. I mostly used these for clothes and toiletries. There is a small zippered pocket on top for items commonly needed items. I used this for my passport, toothbrush, and other stuff I needed to access frequently. The zipper has a security loop so that when it's zipped closed the zipper won't accidentally open and it makes it a little more challenging for somebody to get into it. This is a minor but nice feature. Great attention to detail. The clamshell straps across the front of the pack allow you to compress is and save some space. This is especially helpful when it's full of clothes and you're getting on a plane. It seems to do this fine without putting too much pressure on the laptop area. The front is essentially a clamshell with flaps coming around the front and straps to compress the backpack. The only negative is that you need to undo this straps to get into it. I was able to get what I needed from the laptop pocket and the small top pocket without loosening or unclipping the clamshell straps. Note that as you load it up it can get very fat on your back and that you'll be bumping into things and people with it if you're not careful.

Better than a roller!
Amazing bag, did two weeks in AUS with this guy. Not a hostel person but not having to lug around a roller bag is amazing. Still nice looking enough to walk into nice hotels. Fits way more than you expect it to and still fits in the overhead bin!

Awesome adaptive travel pack!
The best most versatile travel backpack. I am writing this review after two years of use. I travel light for fun and work. Yesterday I picked up a rental motorcycle to ride Beartooth Pass in MT. There were no saddle bag as advertised. No worries, the Sojourn adapts to ever situation like a tool for travel. It carried all my gear on my flight, then adapts to make the ride work. That inspired this review. It is a great travel backpack. It carries well on your back. Combines well with other gear. It easy to access your stuff on the fly. Carries water well. It is awesome.

Great product a bit heavy.
This was a great backpack. But for me it was too big and bulky. Also I found it to be heavy in its own with nothing in it. Overall it’s a well made and thought out backpack bag. 30L capacity. It has a place for hiding the straps so it could be carried if you choose to. Well engineered product just a little too heavy for me. I had to return it and I ordered the smaller lite plus

4 stars and a half. ALMOST perfect. Lacks bottle holder and waterproof capability.
I love how versatile this bag is. It is accepted as a personal item in the airport (took 4 flights last week and it's been fine each time). You can compact the content with the external straps. It has just enough organization capabilities without being "too much". It allows to pack enough for a weekend. It feels super sturdy and the zippers look like they won't fail me. I like how you can fold in the external straps, for an easy slide below the seat. Everything seems adjustable, which is not always needed but always nice to have. It's comfortable. All it lacks is an external bottle holder and being waterproof. And due to all the extra straps, it's not the best looking bag. My wife even told me it's ugly. But she doesn't appreciate

Love everything about it
I’m just commenting on the design, which should win awards. Some team really put some thought into making this a fantastic product. Osprey in general makes fantastic packs, not always the lightest, but they are bombproof. I’m a gear junkie and have and have had dozens of top tier packs from many brands and I always reach for Osprey gear if I know the trip will be tough on my pack/luggage. The materials, the construction, the zippers, straps, padding, are all first rate. Their stuff is just plain durable and their designs work. They have the best warranty in the business, because they know that few will have the misfortune to use it. As far as this bag, it’s made for living on International carry on, for a week, or more. The only thing you’ll need along with this pack is some sort of light weight rain cover if your destination is wet. Many of Osprey’s packs include one—this one does not and it is not waterproof. It has DWR coatings, but lots of seams and zippers that will allow moisture in. Happy travels!

Great alternative to traditional carry-on.
My first time purchasing a travel backpack. I selected this one because it opens all the way up instead of having to pack from the top down. The sides are reinforced so that seemed like it would make access even better. I received it and I really like the color in person. Straight out of the packaging, it looked too small. The fabric is better than I anticipated. It's lightweight empty so that is encouraging even though I plan to pack lightly. This is being purchased for a two week European vacation. (I don't want to use my luggage with wheels because the locations I plan to visit have cobblestone terrain.) The laptop section is a major plus. There are also a couple of other separate sections in this backpack! As I've started to pack, I know I made the right decision. The compression element of this backpack is value added too.

Large capacity and easy to access
Love the capacity on this 65L travel backpack. The compression straps (both the ones inside and on outside) are well secured and allow significant compression. The ability to open up the bag horizontally helps with easy access when packing / unpacking.

Nice pack, can’t wait to use it. Buckles ….plastic?
Again, the plastic buckles for the shoulder straps are questionable. I question whether these can handle a 46L pack full of clothing etc on a week long international trip. The mention and stress added to the clicked in shoulder strap buckle is worrisome but I’ll update my review should they fall into disrepair.

Premium Travel Backpack, Worth Every Penny!
Just got the Osprey Sojourn Porter 46L from Amazon.in, and I’m genuinely impressed. It’s imported from the US, so yes, the price is a bit on the higher side, but honestly, it’s worth every penny for the quality, features, and versatility you get. The materials feel premium, the build is rock solid, and it uses smooth YKK zippers that add to the overall durability. The best part is the “StraightJacket” compression system. You can pack it full at 46L or cinch it down when you're carrying less, either way, it keeps the shape neat and compact. The compression straps are strong enough to secure extra gear like a small bag or jacket on the outside too. The shoulder straps are super comfortable and can be tucked away when not in use, keeping the bag looking clean and easy to handle. There's also a hidden, padded laptop sleeve in the back, which is really handy for travel and adds a nice touch of security. Overall, it’s a fantastic travel backpack, lightweight, flexible, and tough. Great for everything from short weekend getaways to longer one-bag travel. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality travel bag. And big thanks to Amazon for the fast delivery!
