Smartphone with all the bells and whistles you need
I finally had enough squinting at my Nexus 4 and decided it was time to go with a larger screen phone. I had thought about getting the S7 but I couldn't justify the cost. I was literally torn between two phones in the end - Motorola X and the G4. I wanted the ability to change the battery and expand storage. Having seen my brother in laws G4 I was swayed to go for it. For £260 I was able to get a phone that was relatively up to date. The back leather finish isn't really my cup of tea but it's functional. A nice touch was that there was a silver back cover in the box as well along with the charger, cable and battery. Setup was easy. My Google account was synced within minutes with all apps present. The 5.5" screen is marvelous. The colours appear to be realistic without being overblown. I compared the G4 with my wife's Samsung Note and I could clearly see the colour palette on the G4 was more natural. Screen brightness is very good. The rocker switch on the back feels a little more natural to me than having the controls on the side of the phone. The UI isn't ghastly compared to others but some of the icons appear a little child like. Still, it's easy to ascertain what the icon means. The phone is certainly not sluggish. The camera open up quickly when in for me is a welcome respite from the sluggish Nexus. There is a surprising amount of manual control which permits to adjust plenty of settings such as ISO, shutter speed, light balance. With its relatively fast aperture low light pictures look pretty decent especially if you capture images in RAW format. Videos are surprisingly well captured when optical image stabilisation is used. Image quality is superb - makes my Nexus 4 look antiquated. I love the ability to save RAW images in addition to the JPEGs. Luckily there aren't many modes to get in the way of taking a photo. Selfies look pretty good with the front facing camera. Battery life is good. It will last a good part of the day under normal usage. However, the screen does consume most of the power so leave the auto brightness on. Charging takes a couple of hours. All in all, this is a great phone. The G4 maybe one generation behind the new kids on the block but for me the G4 is perfect for me and should last many years to come. It may not have the latest tech but for the price, I can't find anything to fault it.

Great Phone!!!!
Having searched and researched thoroughly for the best phone that I could get for under £300, I finally decided to go for the LG G4. It was the camera and the screen quality that probably swayed me but after having the phone for a few days, I can say that I am very happy with my choice. DESIGN I purchased the plastic back version of the phone as I knew that I would get a case anyway and saw no point personally in paying extra for the leather back. The phone design looks nice with a slight curvature in the back of the phone. The power and volume buttons are located at the back which I wasn’t sure if I would like that, but after a few days I have to say I love it. With my previous phone, I would accidentally press the volume buttons on the side whilst on a call sometimes but now I don’t have to worry. DISPLAY & UI The display is for me one of the best features of the phone in addition to the camera which I will get on to. You will notice the stunning 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution as soon as you switch on the phone. Everything looks nice and crisp with a nice colour ratio. The phone has a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi which again aids in the stunning quality of the display. The UI is a bit bland and the icons were a bit big for my liking, however this is not a problem for me as I just installed Nova Launcher as soon as I got the phone and it really does make a difference. I would highly recommend Nova Launcher to anyone buying this phone (or any other phone). CAMERA Now this for me was one of the main reasons for buying the phone. I can’t be bothered to carry a camera with me, so wanted a phone that can produce excellent camera images to take precious pictures of my family, and I must say, I was not disappointed. The camera quality with the 16 MP camera is absolutely superb with clear and crisp pictures, by far the best quality from any phone that I have used. When I first started taking pictures, they were not what I expecting, but a few minor adjustments quickly fixed that. Firstly to get the highest resolution images, you need to select the 16:9 camera option to get the full 16MP quality. The other options all use lower resolution. The camera also has automatic and manual camera mode - to get the most out of the camera and to adjust things like shutter and ISO, you need to select the manual option. Whilst taking pictures in my living room which hasn’t got great lighting, it took as long as 3 seconds after pressing the button for pictures to actually take. To remedy this and any lag 1) Switch to manual mode 2) Turn off the flash where possible 3) Reduce the ISO and Shutter from the camera options (only in manual mode). After these small tweaks, pictures were almost instantaneous when pressing the button without any compromise on picture quality. BATTERY Finally to the battery life which is key to any phone. The phone comes with a very respectable 3000 mAh battery which is what you would expect from a phone of this power and display. Considering the pixel density and quality of the phone, the battery life is actually quite good, but a few tweaks can really improve this further. I would recommend downloading LG Access Lock App from the play store. This allows you to individual control the permission for most apps on your phone. You would be surprised just how many apps unnecessarily use location which can drastically reduce your battery life. By disabling those permissions, particularly ones that use location, you can really enhance your battery life, even when your phone is asleep (wakelocks). You can also disable any unwanted apps under the Settings>Apps option. I would highly recommend this for any apps that you don’t use. Lastly, you can enhance battery further by selecting GPS (can't use this if using smart settings) under Settings> Location. This is the best option out of the 3 options to preserve your battery (battery saving option uses more battery for some reason) . CONCLUSION For me, the best value phone at the price and would highly recommend it. An amazing screen display and camera – Okay user interface (get Nova) - Oops... almost forgot to mention the call quality :-). The sound quality quality through the phone and speakers is very good (and loud) – Audio through headphones is good but not great in my opinion, would advise getting app such as Equaliser FX to improve the quality. Also, it is definitely worth getting a screen protector and a case for extra protection.

Just made it to 4 stars. Edit - extremely disappointing
As a whole a very good phone. Pros - looks good, amazing camera, nice screen quality images and videos are sharp (in the right conditions), removable battery and expandable memory. Easy to customise. Cons - Disappointing battery life (I struggle to keep it going for a day, and thats with the screen brightness turned all the way down, and the phone barely used all day when I'm at work. Sometimes the battery only lasts 5 hours and this is from day one of using the phone). The quality of the screen is great indoors but terrible outside, especially in sunlight, and this is with the brightness turned all the way up if necessary (which further eats into battery life). Having upgraded from the htc one, I am majorly disappointed by the speakers on this phone - they have a tinny quality to them, especially as they're on the back. Although it seems there are more cons than pros, I do like this phone, and gave it 4 stars because it's perfect for standard day-to-day use, I'm home before the battery dies, and on holidays I'm able to swap batteries if necessary. And I really do love the camera! June 25 edit - for the past 2 weeks the phone has been freezing up on me (and the battery overheating) with minimal use and I've had to take the battery out to restart it. I have to leave the battery out of the phone for 15 minutes to have any hope of using the phone for more than 1 minute and even that isn't guaranteed. This phone is riddled with bugs and there are numerous reports of this overheating/freezing issue happening online. Exercise caution when buying this phone. I personally am fed up with this phone. I really hope I can return it and get a refund. I'll be sticking to HTC or Samsung in the future.

Update - Top Phone
I will update this as and when I get a new handset, however... In the first hour of ownership this phone switched itself off without warning repeatedly, while downloading apps from Play Store. After eventually managing to update to Marshmallow the reason for the resets became clearer, with repeated warnings that the device was overheating. At no point did the phone even feel warm. The situation got worse, to the point that my fully charged phone would turn off, then on attempted restart claim it had 0% charge. If I left the handset off the charger it would allow me to boot after a few minutes, but would only last a couple of minutes before the temperature warning appeared, followed very quickly by shutting down. Still no temperature emanating from the phone. This has now been sent back for refund and I will get a replacement once I have the money. The handset is lovely when it works, just a shame it is only for about 10 minutes a day! Fingers crossed the replacement is ok as this does not seem to be a common fault. I will edit my review once the new handset arrives. EDIT: Well after a bit of a balls up by Amazon I finally received my new handset, this time in black leather. Thankfully it was also the UK model unlike the brown one which I believe was Taiwanese. All I can say is that this phone is absolutely perfect for me. It is fast, has an excellent camera (apart from slight lag on first opening the app) and most importantly had expandable memory for all my music. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone so I can use better apps for battery management, as the battery is no better than any other handset and only really lasts a day with steady use. You can easily disable or ignore most of the pre installed software and install your own launcher etc just like any Android handset. The screen is stunning, my wife has the Galaxy S7 Edge and the G4's screen and camera easily match that. I decided against the G5 as I wanted to keep the rear buttons and there wasn't enough better on the G5 to convince me to go for it. Anyway there you go, I think I have found my perfect phone, well done LG!

Excellent Quality and Value
This took over a month to receive from the seller so I was more than ready to return it if it did not perform to my expectations. However, it exceeded my expectations and I love it. Some problems as expected in finding out how to do some things on the new phone, like amend a contact's details, which had become second nature on my old phone, but I have quickly been able to set it up to my taste. I was concerned by reviews that it wasn' as well engineered as other smartphones, but I would argue that the feel and quality is far better than many. The phone is nice and light, fits comfortably in the hand, and once you get used to the "on/off" switch being on the back, simple to use - fast and responsive - and with a beautiful screen and with excellent sound. I did have problems connecting to a PC but a quick download of drivers from the LG website and finding out how to switch the phone to MTP (whilst you are getting the drivers I suggest that you download the manual as well), so just the usual getting used to a new product and operating system. I am happy to use Google services and so it was exceptionally easy to transfer old apps and favourite settings from my accounts. I have had many different brands of phone over the years and have never yet found a company which can provide their own software to manipulate data between the phone and other sources - LG is no exception in this respect, although I have to say that their system does seem useable in some respects rather than HTC's which never worked at all. However, there are so many better software apps I would suggest that you don't bother downloading and setting up the LG programme. The phone itself and operating system does allow several options to pass data between other devices but my other devices cannot take advantage of the newer features and I am still using Bluetooth, Wireless and USB connections in the main. I have found this phone to be infinitely capable of personalization to my taste and I can honestly say this purchase rates among the best decisions that I have made. And if we are talking about value for money - outstanding LG!

Amazing camera, fast proccessor - But prone to bugs
Now is the perfect time to purchase this phone since the LG G5 has just been released this phone has already become significantly cheaper! I won't bore you with all the details and specifications since they are already clearly available on the page, instead I will just talk about my personal experience with the phone which I've had since February this year. Pros: - Amazing Camera - So good in fact that it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between a picture taking by a DSLR camera and it sometimes - Also boasts a generous 8 MP front facing camera - Very fast processor - Great for multitasking, watching videos & playing games - Lot's of cool features - For example double taking the button on the back instantly takes a photo without having to unlock the phone - Fantastic screen quality - A bright crystal clear display makes it great for watching videos Cons: - Has some minor bugs - When you zoom in when recording video it muffles the sound - Battery life is rather poor - I find that although the battery is big it seems to drain quite quickly even when I turn off my data usage and Wi-Fi - The default interface kept crashing just a month after purchase Ultimately I think whether or not I would recommend this phone to you depends entirely on what you are looking for in a phone. Are you looking for a phone which you will use to capture lots of photos on? If so then the cons that this phone comes with are probably worth it for you. Are you looking for a phone that you can just pick up and use with little to no technical knowledge? In that case I have to say I personally wouldn't recommend this because of the various bugs that are known to occur. The most annoying one I had to deal with personally was the default interface keep crashing making the phone almost unusable. I had to install a third party UI (Nova) to fix the problem. If you didn't know how to do this, then it could be a major problem for you. Overall though despite it's flaws this is still a great phone, once you squash the bugs it's a pleasure to use. The camera is by the far the best that I've ever used on a phone so far. I will attach some photos taken with this phone to this review. But if you're not willing or able to deal with the potential minor but somewhat annoying bugs, then I would have to say that this phone is probably not the one for you. I'm really torn between giving this phone 3 stars or 4 stars, if it was based on my opinion alone I would give it 4 stars. But I think because of the potential for bugs and the sub par battery life I am going to have to give this one 3 stars as much as I love the phone personally. Because I know that these have the potential to cause people some major headaches.

LG G4 plus replacement battery =win and one hell of a smartphone
Well here goes I thought I'd write a review about this excellent smartphone and let's start by saying I have had this since October and before then I had a HTC one m7,m8 and also the m9 but the battery life on the m9 is terrible and it heats up even if you is doing the simplest tasks and so I decided to try the LG G4 for a change and what a surprise it's been. Firstly the G4 is very well made and just screams quality at you when you first unbox it and the screen is gorgeous as well to but I admit the speaker on it is good but obviously not as good as say a HTC phone such as the m9 but that's to be expected. The software experience on the G4 is silky smooth and it feels well put together and everything is easy to activate and is put where you would expect it etc and I haven't had any shut downs or lag at all which was a surprise to be honest and I have been playing games on mine and it's flown by without any slow downs in that department either. Call quality is excellent and I keep my phone in GSM mode all the time and I get a very strong signal no matter where I am and I only put the phone in 4g or 3g mode when I surf the net and that's silky smooth and much faster than my m9 as well,no problems in the network department either. Right let's get to the most important thing hey and that's battery life, well battery life is excellent and with the standard battery you can get about a day out of it with average usage such as calling and texting and Internet use but if you are a power user like myself I would advise you get a 3800mah battery for it and then you will easy get a day out of it with heavy usage and with easy use you could probably get two days out of it with the extended battery, mine has been transformed since I got the extended battery. The camera is excellent and I can't fault it at all so I would say if you want the phone to have a good camera then you can't go wrong with this phone for sure and finally the last thing which is really really good about this phone is that obviously in the future you can replace the battery when it degrades and you cannot do that with a m9 or S6 or a one plus two so this makes the G4 a absolute winner for sure so overall it's excellent and I'll be honest I can't find a fault with the G4 at all so there you go if you is thinking of getting one I'd say don't hesitate just order one you won't regret it.

Best Android Phone of 2015 So Far
This is my first LG phone coming from the M8, I did not expect much but after trying out I'm glad with my choice. Even though most of the competition focuses on gimmicks like beefing up cameras instead of focusing on essentials, this phone does it right in all areas. UI looks good, clean and most importantly customizable thanks to LG Smart World. Screen is beautiful, battery life is excellent around 2 days but you have to make several tweaks to achieve it. You don't even need that many third party apps. LG Keyboard is just as good as Swiftkey, It comes with a file manager and there's a "smart cleaning" feature that does most of what apps like clean master do. Be careful with smart cleaning idle apps though I thought it would just stop the apps but it actually uninstalls them so consider changing the setting to at least 1 month. I'm a believer that Quad HD on a phone ( everything above full HD) is a gimmick and in my opinion useless even though the screen is nice and would be lying that is not impressive, I would have preferred if they released 2 models Full HD and QHD. If I can get around 2 days of battery life with it, I can only imagine if the screen was Full HD. If you look at the battery usage tab in the settings and see what drains more, it's the screen it goes from like 25-39% (0 Brightness at home and auto when I'm out) Camera is just fine for me in auto mode, I wouldn't have a clue on how to operate manual mode. Smart features in my opinion are useless since they use location and location decreases battery life considerably so I disable location completely. If you plan on using it, I would suggest using battery saving mode it uses data and WiFi instead of GPS. The only smart feature I have enabled is to open the music app when I plugin earphones/headphones. Smart bulletin could use some improvements, it could even become LG's own Blinkfeed. +Battery life + Customization (themes/fonts/app logos etc) + Knock Code a good alternative to fingerprint scanner and surprisingly convenient + Leather back looks good + comes with a screen protector and extra case + SD card slot + Removable battery The last two are reasons enough to at the very least consider this phone.

Molto bello

Vale assolutamente i soldi spesi.
