My 2-yr old still puts everything in mouth. How small is the smallest piece?

Thanks for your question! Since our primary audience with LEGO® DUPLO® is children, you'll be happy to know that safety is at the top of our priority list! DUPLO® bricks come in all sorts of sizes and shapes, so measurements can vary a lot, but they’re all twice the length, width, and height of traditional LEGO® bricks.

One of our most basic DUPLO pieces – a 2x2 brick – measures 1.25” by 1.25” and comes to about 0.75” tall (not including the studs on top).

Knowing that LEGO® products will be handled by kids in all sorts of ways – in hands, in mouths, and in every room of the house- all DUPLO sets undergo rigorous testing and must meet the strictest standards. This includes pull tests, impact tests, compression tests, and step tests. This means that any DUPLO® element your child plays with will not cause any harm.

DUPLO® sets are not made in the USA. They don't from any one place, rather each set may contain pieces (bricks, booklet, box, etc.) from different manufacturing facilities all over the world. Any single set may contain parts made in Denmark, Hungary, Mexico, China, and the Czech Republic. So, your DUPLO set is kind of like a little trip around the world all in one box!
