Fantastic after update app and cooler ear pads fitted
The very first thing you need to do is update the app that is downloaded to control the headphones, improves the sound quality and offers more flexibility of settings. The second thing is to fit the cooler ear padding that are on offer not only are they a much better fit but actually improve performance and sound quality. Straight out the box I found these to be overwhelming in the bass and quick to heat up making them uncomfortable but after the update app and fitting the cooler pads they are extremely comfortable and sound amazing with a flat response that can easily adjust to your preferred liking. Changing the ear pads is a bit of a struggle but well worth the improvements they bring, highly recommended once updated my only complaint is the clunky volume control which needs improvement Sennheiser take note and update your app again.

sound quality, comfort, and long battery life
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones bring significant upgrades to Sennheiser's premium line, competing directly with top-tier noise-canceling headphones from brands like Sony and Bose. Controls: The MOMENTUM 4 employs intuitive touch controls on the ear cups for play/pause, volume adjustments, and track navigation. Sennheiser has also included wear-detection sensors, pausing playback when you remove the headphones and resuming when you put them back on. Connectivity and App Integration: Equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, the MOMENTUM 4 offers a reliable, high-quality connection. The Sennheiser Smart Control app provides customization options, including EQ settings and a sound personalization feature that adjusts based on your listening preferences. Battery Life: With a remarkable 60-hour battery life (at moderate volume with ANC on), these headphones outlast most competitors in the category. Quick-charging provides about six hours of playback with just a 10-minute charge. Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency Mode: The Adaptive Noise Cancellation is quite effective, especially in noisy environments like planes or public transport. Transparency Mode allows external sounds in, which is useful for conversations without removing the headphones. Sound Quality: Sennheiser is known for its audio fidelity, and the MOMENTUM 4 stays true to this legacy. It delivers a clear, balanced, and rich sound profile, which can also be customized in the app. Here’s a breakdown of its performance across sound characteristics: Bass: Deep, punchy bass without being overbearing, making it suitable for genres like hip-hop, electronic, and pop. Mids and Highs: Vocals and instruments are detailed, and highs are crisp without becoming harsh. This makes it ideal for everything from classical and jazz to rock. Soundstage: The MOMENTUM 4 has an impressively wide soundstage for closed-back headphones, allowing for excellent separation and positioning of sounds. The headphones also support high-quality codecs, including aptX Adaptive and AAC, which enhance sound quality over Bluetooth. Pros: Outstanding battery life (up to 60 hours) with fast-charging capabilities. Exceptional sound quality that’s clear, detailed, and customizable. Effective Adaptive Noise Cancellation that competes well with top ANC models. Comfortable and lightweight design, suitable for extended use. Stable Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity with support for high-quality codecs. Cons: Less distinctive design compared to previous MOMENTUM models, which may disappoint fans of the original look. Touch controls can be somewhat sensitive, occasionally leading to accidental triggers. ANC isn’t industry-leading; while it’s very good, it’s slightly less effective than Sony’s and Bose’s top models in extremely noisy environments. Final Verdict: The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones are an excellent choice for listeners who prioritize sound quality, comfort, and long battery life. They strike a great balance between premium audio performance and advanced features like ANC and transparency mode, making them versatile for daily use, travel, and dedicated listening sessions.

Disappointing, buggy headphones, *if* they don't develop a fault.
I'll start with the most egregious negative first; I'm on my second pair of Momentum 4's. The original pair I sent back to Sennheiser for RMA, because they started crackling in the left earcup. Now, this pair has started crackling, also in the left ear cup. I bought my original pair for £209 on October 9th 2024. I am writing this October 21st 2025. That makes two pairs of headphones, exhibiting the same fault in just over ONE YEAR. I won't bother RMA-ing this pair, since I expect I'll just get the same issue in another 6 months. To be clear, I've used them with factory settings, apart from enabling AptX HD. They haven't been exposed to water, and I listen at about 30-40% volume. If you're still considering buying these for some reason, the pros and cons are as follows. Pros: * The sound quality is decent, though not amazing given the price. * The companion app is surprisingly functional (and doesn't require sign-in, amazing!), with a 5 band EQ, access to ANC settings, and an option to prefer AptX HD when using Bluetooth. * The battery life is decently long, I can't give an exact number, but I found I only needed to charge every 5-7 days or so, with on and off usage, and the headphones are decently comfortable. Cons: * The headphones are 100% plastic, including the earcup hinges, which creak if you dare move while wearing them. * The active noise cancellation is present, but more noise reduction than cancellation. Fortunately, you can disable wind reduction in the app, which improves the noise cancellation, but, unsurprisingly, increases wind noise. On a positive note, the transparency mode is surprisingly transparent! * The Bluetooth playback in AptX HD mode is weirdly spotty, sometimes it's rock solid, staying connected through multiple walls, and sometimes it hitches at less than a meter away. I've found that the Qualcomm Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chipset in my laptop is more reliable than the Realtek one in my ThinkPad, and most surprisingly, better even than the BTD600 dongle. * The final issue; sometimes, the controls decide they don't want to work properly. Sometimes, both the volume up and down gestures *increase* the volume. Sometimes, taking the headphones off doesn't pause the currently playing media, but putting them back on does. Sometimes, tapping the right earcup (the play/pause gesture) when connected to two devices - a selling point of these headphones - doesn't pause the currently playing content, but starts whatever was last playing *on the other device*. Even ignoring the quality (control?) issues, I probably wouldn't recommend these headphones. The build is subpar, the ANC - again, a selling point - is *far* behind the competition, and the Bluetooth is far flakier than other headphones I've tried, and that's saying something.

9.5/10
Spent hours on end deliberating over these after reading some bad reviews relating to connectivity issues & bugs. I was stuck between these and Xm4s but decided to take the chance on the momentums as they have a better reputation with "audiophiles" for sound quality. So far I haven't had any issues with bugs. The touch controls are extremely sensitive but I wasnt really bothered about having that feature anyway so I just turned it off instantly to avoid frustration 😅. (EDIT: you do have to turn this particular feature off every time you power them on which is a bit annoying). I also noticed that they auto powered on in the case just from me picking it up so I can see where there might be an issue with battery drain during transportation (mine arrived with 50% battery) but again - just turned that feature off in the app and problem solved. I can see why people are frustrated that there's features that you're paying for that don't exactly work the best but still.. the most important thing for me was the sound quality and these headphones definitely deliver! Really well balanced sound bringing out the best in so many different genres. Theyre maybe a little bass heavy (which suits me fine) but EQ can be easily adjusted with the app. They're also really comfortable which is a huge plus. As a glasses wearer I find most headphones start to hurt after about an hour of use but I put these on as soon as they arrived and didn't take them off for about 2/3hours and experienced zero discomfort. Overall I'm totally blown away by these. I'd maybe be more frustrated with the unreliable features if I'd payed full price, but for £220 they're totally worth it. It's hard to take them off! Wish I'd saved hours of my life being indecisive and just bought them sooner 😆

Not disappointed
It was between MOM4's and the Sony's WH-XM5's. It was either the quality of the sound vs the ANC's so I opted for the MOM4's due to the quality of the sound and I made the right choice. I brought these on Prime Day and had a £100 voucher so I got them dead cheap. The case is smaller then I expected and the fabric which covers it makes it look that extra premium. It's sturdy and easy to carry. The extra's are the C-Type USB cable, AUX cable and airplane adapter. The headphones look exceptionally premium with the same fabric covering the top part of the head frame and fake leather underneath giving it an extra cushion feel. The ear cups fit well against my ears and are very comfortable. I can keep them on for hours without any issues. There is a hard button to turn the device on/off but I have never used it. As soon as I pull them out of the case, they turn on; when I have finished using them they auto turn off which can be set via the app. Everything else is touch controlled and it's sensitive, maybe a little too much causing it to pause, skip tracks. The sound it is not the loudest so I expected more for the price but these are very big on bass and exactly what I needed. I'm not so keen on ANC and I can barely tell if it's in use or not because I always have the volume on max so I can't hear anything anyway. I've had these for a couple of month's now and I've charged them once or twice, the battery life is great. The app is certainly required to adjust the settings and it makes a difference to how they sound, which is better than straight from the box. Overall, made the right choice purchasing the MOM4's and for the price at less than £125, it was a no brainer.

Excellent sound, fantastic battery life, great connectivity, well worth wrangling with the foibles!
TL:DR While they may have some idiosyncracies, they are totally worth learning to manage as the sound, battery, and general functionality is excellent I've been using these for the past 5 months and can honestly say they are one of the best pairs of headphones I've used in a VERY long time. While they might not be "perfect" in all areas, they are excellent in enough to assuage the issues. The sound quality via bluetooth is absolutely EXCELLENT, they have a -very- wide soundstage compared to a fair number of bluetooth headphones I have tried, and also have a very clean, separated sound, all the elements are clear and distinct to the point I've heard things in songs and videos that I had not before even listening through my monitor set up. I've not tried them wired, where they could be even better because the BT is so good (YMMV I spend time shaping the EQ in the app which is well worth the time) Battery life is top tier, I wear them while commuting and on breaks, and often wear them of an evening connected to my PC and seem to only have to charge them every few weeks. They also have a neat function were they pause the music when you take them off and seem to go into sleep mode until you put them back on They can be connected to multiple devices, although this is where some minor issues start to appear. I have mine connected to my phone and my pc via a bluetooth dongle - unless you don't manually put the headphones to sleep using the power button, you can sometimes have devices register a connection to the headphones, which can pause things you're listening to through speakers. They come with a sturdy headphone case that has spaces for, and includes, relevant cables e.g. USB and headphone, and the headphones fit very nicely in to it, which is useful as they do not fold in any way. They are portable with some planning.. or a thin neck I guess! The touch controls are a great idea and work really well in principle... but as alluded to I have a thick neck, and it is tremendously easy to "press play" on the earcap with my chin 😅Also the double tap for ANC doesn't register as well as it should, but the increasing/decreasing ANC motion does. There is an app that seems expected to get, but is also totally worth the download. Has its own equaliser to be configured, as well as other ANC controls, being able to configure sound zones using the ANC microphones and others beside. I got them with a fairly good discount in a sale, but would not have been disappointed if I had paid full price

Love my 1st Noise Cancel Headphones.
Bought these a good while ago now and wanted to really test them out before reviewing. They are my 1st noise cancelling headphones and I am delighted that after massive research I chose these. They are really comfortable, a good fit, have great sound and do the noise cancelling very well. The right side ear touch controls are very handy and easy to use and I love that the music automatically stops and restarts when you remove and replace the headphones. The app is simple to use also and has settings you can personalise. Happy to now recommend.

A Frustrating Pair of Headphones – Not Worth the Hassle
I rarely write reviews, but my experience with these headphones has been frustrating enough to warrant one. While these headphones have some great qualities—like battery life and sound—they have been frustrating to use due to persistent connectivity issues and disappointing build quality. After a year, I regret my purchase. Strengths - Sound Quality – Good for wireless headphones, though nowhere near the wired HD 650s I’ve used for over a decade. If sound quality is your top priority, this is their strongest aspect. - Battery Life – Over 30 hours per charge is excellent. You rarely need to turn them off, and they charge quickly. - Design – Stylish and competitive with other brands. However, this won’t last due to an unavoidable headband fraying issue. Drawbacks - Unreliable PC Connectivity – When connected to a PC via the recommended Sennheiser BTD 600 Bluetooth dongle, the headphones randomly lose sound—sometimes multiple times within an hour. Fixing the issue is inconsistent; sometimes a restart works, other times you need to toggle sound sources or disable Bluetooth on another device. Imagine trying to watch a movie and dealing with this every 10 minutes—it’s beyond frustrating. (Strangely, they work fine with a Samsung phone, so if you’re not using them with a PC, this may not be a problem.) - Poor Connectivity Range – Even within 1.5–2 meters of the source, I’ve experienced frequent audio dropouts. - Headband Fraying Issue – Many users report this problem: the cloth material covering the headband starts peeling after about six months due to weak adhesive. There’s no fix, and Sennheiser won’t offer support. For something marketed as a premium product, this is unacceptable. The "its fine"s - Noise Cancelling – Works fine, but nothing exceptional. - Touch Controls – Functional but not outstanding. - Companion App – Works adequately. Other Considerations If you're looking to use these for gaming, be aware that you cannot use both the wireless high-quality sound and microphone functionality at the same time. If you try, audio quality will drop significantly, making them sound like cheap knockoff headphones. If you have a separate microphone, however, this might not be a concern. Overall - If you primarily use these headphones with a phone and the fraying issue does not bother you, they might be a reasonable choice. But if you need a reliable PC connection, expect frequent issues. Combine that with build quality concerns, and it’s hard to recommend these, I wish I had went with the Sonys.

Unbeatable
Been down a rabbit hole and researching for about a month before deciding on the Sennheiser Momentum. Went to some local stores to try out all of the popular headphones but went in with a certain list of priorities (in order); 1) Sound Quality 2) Comfort 3) Portability 4) Noise Cancelling 5) Battery life Contenders on the list were: - Bose QC ultra: Amazing ANC, great portability, decent sound quality but a bit on the dull side. - Sony XM4 & XM5: Bassy but flat and muffled sound, great ANC and portability. Avoid the XM5 at all costs though, the hinges are a major design flaw. - Sennheiser Momentum 4: Blows everything else out of the water in terms of sound quality, same for the battery life. Not quite as portable as the QC ultra's and XM4s but comes with a great case nontheless. - B&W PX7: Didn't get a chance to try these out. Pro's; If you prioritise sound quality over anything else then it's an easy choice, nothing comes close to it in this price range. Track separation, bass, clear vocals... it's all there and it's an immersive listening experience. The ANC might not be as good as Bose or Sony but it's certainly nowhere near bad ANC performance. I recently brought these on multiple flights and trains with me and have 0 complaints. After having used Airpods Pro's for about 2 years I can confidently say that the transparency mode on the Momentums is pretty comparable too, which is a great thing. The controls (despite being touch) work surprisingly well but keep in mind that fingerprints are pretty visible on the black versions. As for the case it comes with, it looks a lot larger on the product page than it actually is in person. It's also very sturdy and packs some smart features which have worked flawlessly so far. When it comes to battery life... well it's probably the best on the market right now and almost feels like a challenge to drain it. If you don’t need the absolute best ANC on the market and want something that just objectively sounds better than any other consumer headphone in the €300 range, then the Momentums are a clear winner.

I love the Sennheiser sound. NC is good enough.
I bought used and I'm not disappointed. The seller posted an accurate description. As for the headphones themselves, I completely love them. I used Sony's XM4s before this, until the noise canceling decided to go haywire. I've also used the newer XM6s from Sony. In terms of noise canceling, the Momentum 4 isn't bad. But if you directly compare to the XM6, it's very obvious that Sony is at the top in that department. With the Momentum 4, you can experience a separation from the environment, but things like loud trucks, train rumble, etc will likely bleed through at normal listening volumes. I'd say it's acceptable noise canceling, and certainly I wouldn't call it bad. Just not as good as Sony. Sound-wise though, I just love the Sennheiser. They sound fuller with clearer separation between lows, mids, and highs. Wider general soundstage as well. I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile by any means, but the difference is clear. Sennheiser just has a better sound imo. Style-wise I think Sennheiser kills it here as well. Very classy, and I feel happy to wear them. I love the cloth headband. I use Sennheiser HD600s at home, and it's not a stretch to say that they have a similar sound. Obviously open back wired headphones and wireless noise canceling headphones can't be directly compared. But after trying some other headphones, I see myself sticking with Sennheiser for the foreseeable future.
