Nice coin pocket EDC knife
I carry mine everyday (for the past 3 years) in the coin pocket of my jeans. It's the perfect size for that. And (I forgot to mention this in my video) the textured part at one end makes it easy to pull out of the pocket with a thumb. It's very lightweight (about the same as the USB flash drive I carry along side it in my coin pocket) but I haven't found the plastic handle to be a problem. For the scale of work you'll be doing with a knife this size, it's plenty strong. The price is reasonable, and I am happy with it. UPDATE 5/8/2013: I still have this knife, but it currently sits in the kitchen relegated to opening plastic food bags and poking holes in box dinners so they don't explode in the microwave. That's not to say that I like it any less than when I was carrying it daily, it's just that I found other things that I like even more (but they cost more too). I replaced this Gerber with a similarly sized Spyderco Ladybug, and the Ladybug is better in every way except price; it's better steel, seems to sharpen sharper, and stays sharp longer, the plastic handle is even grippier, it's easier to open one-handed due to the thumb hole, and it's available in at least a dozen different colors (I got the purple). But it was 2x the price of this Gerber (actually now it looks more like 3x). So the Gerber Ultralight LST is still a fantastic value, but if you can spare another fifteen or twenty dollars I'm almost certain you'll like the Spyderco Ladybug more.

Hands Down Best Folding Pocket Knife for the Money!
I have been using the Gerber LST folding knives for well over a decade, and they are GREAT little knives. I keep the smallest version in my pocket at all times, especially at work. It's so small and light, you forget it's in there, but when you need it, it's ready. These little blades keep their edge for a ridiculously long time. The next size up is perfect when working outside, camping, fishing or hunting. It's just big enough to get most outdoor jobs done, but small enough not to get in the way or weigh you down. I have one in each of my backpacks, all my outdoor gear bags, one (maybe two) in my truck and one in my pocket if I'm outdoors. They're just too awesome, cheap and handy not to have them lying around. I use the biggest size for cleaning harvested animals and it is by far my favorite knife for the task. I have purchased dozens of specialty knives over the years that promise to make cleaning game a little easier, but every time, I go back to my little Gerber LST and knock it out. The drop point is perfect for removing the hide without puncturing it and it just fits well in the hand. One of the best things about the LST line is how long the edge lasts. I only need to sharpen and LST after cleaning two or three animals. Most other knives require several sharpenings per animal. It's handy, it's inexpensive, it's tough, it's light... why wouldn't you have this in your pocket? Get this little knife and prepare to purchase several more, you're going to love it.

Great quality and made in U.S.A.
I was looking for a small pocket knife and wanted something that was made in the USA. I think the U.S. makes the best quality knives overall and this one does not disappoint. It is extremely light to the point it’s easy to forget you have it on you. Blade is great quality and very sharp!

Great small lock blade knife!
I recently lost a lock blade knife made by Zippo. That knife was 25 years old and given to me by a co-worker/friend who passed away. That knife had sentimental value as well as being a small, practical pocket knife for those occasions when you need a knife. Everyone should have a pocket knife, right? I bought this knife to replace the lost knife and while it is not an exact replacement, it comes pretty close. The blade, when exposed, measures right at 2 inches so some will find the knife too short. It is a little shorter than the Zippo I had, but I have adjusted to the blade length with no problems. The handle and lock system are solid and feel sturdy. The blade is plenty sharp and is holding a good edge. This is a decent knife for the price. I am very happy with it. While it is not the knife given to me by my friend, it will still remind me of him and therefore serve both purposes.

Pocket pal
What I like: 1. SOLID lockup - I expected a bit of blade play in something this small, but there's no blade play in my sample. It feels like it's one solid piece. 2. It is light, but I can't say that it's noticeably or significantly lighter than something else of this approximate size. I mean, a 2" blade isn't going to weigh you down much to begin with, and there are certainly lighter knives in this class, but maybe not at this price. Which brings me to... 3. Great value. You're getting a lot of knife for under $20, and in a lot of cases this is all the knife you need anyway. For tossing in a briefcase or keeping in your coin pocket, this is a economical option that won't raise any eyebrows. 4. It's pretty easy to one-hand-open, albeit slowly. There's a nice, very sturdy detent at the halfway open point, too. Makes it very easy and safe to manipulate the blade once you unlock it. 5. Beyond knowing this is "surgical steel" with no information on the hardness or heat treatment, it performs admirably. Came very sharp out of the box, and it cleans up easily on a whetstone or with sharpening rods. I'm not going to nerdgasm over the angle of the grind or things like that, as I think these are all relatively unimportant factors on this end of the knife spectrum. Buy and cut with confidence. What I don't like: 1. There's an hourglass shape to the rear half of the handle scales if you're looking at it with the edge of the blade facing you. You can't see this in the profile pic above. I think the concavity is meant to serve as a place for your middle and/or ring fingertips to rest while holding the knife, but the indentation would work better as a place to rest your thumb, IMO. I actually prefer the knurled texture they put up front for thumb and forefinger and would have preferred to see that across the entire scale. The design is fully ambidextrous, though. 2. The FRN scales feel pretty cheap. This is why I'd rather have the checkered finish all the way across instead of on the front half. 3. It's in no way serviceable. Disassembling the knife would probably destroy it. Again, given my rating, this isn't a big enough deal to make huge deductions for, but if something needs to be fixed on this knife, your next move is going to be replacement and not repair. All in all, this is a great little knife for (well) under $20 - I nabbed this at closer to $12 but the price varies a bit on here based on who you buy it from. What I was really looking for was the Gerber Microlight, which is slightly smaller with flat scales, but looks to be discontinued. I have lately gravitated to knives 2" or under as they really do all the things I need them to do, are usually lower-profile and can safely be carried and used in a business casual office setting. I can't say that for my Kershaws or Spydercos or CRKTs as they're generally a lot more aggressive and not easy to carry in slacks without announcing to the world that I CARRY A FOLDING KNIFE! So you can get a carbon fiber Case Executive for close to $60, and it's a fine knife as well, but the Ultralight will do all of the same things but in slightly lower-rent materials and a fraction of the cost. These are great to have on you for the times you need a knife and don't want some kind of tactical slicer/dicer.

Super little knife. But be careful of the size!!
I am a big fan of these Gerber knives. So minimalist, they approach perfection: Light, thin, tough, and with a quality blade that holds an edge. They have all the important features, and no others: An easy to operate blade lock, a hole for a cord, and a non-slip grip. For the ultralight backpacker, it's absolutely ideal. For anyone else, it makes a true pocket knife -- one you can keep in any pocket and not even feel it is there. However, NOTE THAT THIS KNIFE IS AVAILABLE IN TWO SIZES! One is "normal" size, the other is diminutive. **In the photo, they both look identical!!** I have both, and in the end I don't mind, but when I bought the diminutive version it was because I made a mistake, thinking it was the other. Caveat emptor!

Great little light-duty pocket knife
I have had this Gerber pocket knife for a few weeks now, and it has proven to be perfect for my needs. I wanted a small utility knife that would fit inside the "watch pocket" of my jeans. I use it primarily to open shipping cartons and to cut fishing line, small ropes, etc. I first tried a small red Kershaw "Little Lockback Folding Pocket Knife". While the Kershaw knife seems to have a good blade, it is quite difficult to open. Even worse, it is held together with several very small screws. When one of the screws at the blade pivot fell out after only a few weeks of light use, I decided to "retire" that knife and try something else. This Gerber Ultra light LST seems to be a much better choice for my purposes. The blade is very easy to open and it takes a pretty good edge. The size of this knife is just right, and the build quality seems to be much better than the Kershaw knife that I bought. For this low price, no one should expect to get a true "premium" knife. If you're looking for a decent SMALL light-duty utility knife, however, this one is definitely worth a look.

Immer dabei, leicht, robust & scharf
Das Gerber Ultralight LST habe ich schon ca. 15 Jahre immer am Schlüsselbund dabei. In USA entdeckt.
