PreSonus Eris 5BT Gen 2 Bluetooth Studio Monitor Speakers, 5", 100W, Black

Such a sturdy speaker, bluetooth is great using a standby mode for power saving when not playing music but ready for bluetooth connection whenever. Very loud and powerful sound with adjustment for bass and treble. Great value for money weighing a significant amount, indication of a good speaker.

Probably the best upgrade I've ever made for music. I'm finally able to trust my ears and mix things that will sound pretty good on most set-ups, or still sound nicely balanced on a full-size venue PA. The Bluetooth option is pretty useless as it's always on my desk and plugged into my PC, but I can't really fault anything on these speakers. I use them mostly in CuBase with my Focusrite Scarlet or Tascam 16x4 interfaces, I can't recommend them enough if you want a budget friendly good home speaker set-up for mixing or just listening, it's like having new ears. Minor criticisms: - the power button is awful, I tend to leave mine on until they just go into standby, unless you're careful the button often causes an electrical crackle any time you turn them off or it flips back into the on position etc. - there is a slight hissing sound which is noticeable when they are near silent, I've got pretty sensitive hearing though and I've not found it too annoying.

I've had these for a few months and they sound very good as desktop speakers. What I do not like, at all, is the standby mode which is entered when you switch them on or if they are left silent for a while. In stand-by mode they will not emit any sound until the device's volume hits a certain volume threshold to switch them back to active mode. This means that if you start playing a piece of music that has a quiet beginning then you have to whack the device volume up to push the speakers into active mode. Then you sometimes get a very loud volume as they kick in and you hurriedly have to lower it again and then invariably have to rewind the track back to start so you can listen to it at the correct volume. This is completely nuts. Poor design which spoils an otherwise good product.

These are such a great pair of speakers. The sound quality is the best I've had. I went for the 100w version as I wanted the extra power. Only had these at half way while listening to music and was very surprised that I could hear my instruments than I thought was in a certain piece of music. It's a fair price to pay I think 180 or something I paid , next day delivery. They link by wire or Bluetooth I only use via the Bluetooth so I've less wires. I've a dicky Bluetooth adapter so I do have to press the button on the back on the right speaker to re connect this I'd when I switch from headphones to speakers but that's just my setup. 100% recommended

This purchase is an upgrade from the Presonus Eris 4.5BT, used with a DAW and as general PC speakers. I'll get straight to specifics... The bad: Design life issue for the rev 1 was real. The rev 1 Eris speakers seemed to have the ‘don’t last forever like speakers should’ issue. My 4.5BT stopped working after 5 years. Looking at other long term reviews, this seems normal. Rev 2 may not age gracefully via a definite design life of around 5 years. Time will tell. Harsher highs than rev 1 The rev 2 seem to have a brighter (or harsher, depending on your view!) top end vs the older rev 1. Not much of a problem as there’s a couple of gain controls to alter the default, but its there and a downside. Bluetooth delay Bluetooth is useless for some applications because of the small but noticeable delay. Fine for DAW playback, but for live stuff and perhaps certain media playback (games etc), you need wired. Not a biggie because these are nearfield speakers so wired is not a major problem, but again, its there. This is an issue inherent with Bluetooth and not specific to these speakers, but pay the extra on Bluetooth for recreational music (just place your phone on top of the speaker and it connects, etc), not as a serious production helper. The good: Price. Cheapest decent monitors. Anything below the 5.5 doesn’t really cut it if you are serious. The 4.5 and 3.5 are just premium multimedia speakers and not really monitors, and there for marketing reasons (capturing the entire customer spending range). I relied on the 4.5s less because of this, using them more as general purpose (so wasn’t that disappointed when they died!). Buy 4.5/3.5 if you have no money or impatient. Someone had to say it. Sound Very good for the price. As entry level monitors, they work great. As premium general speakers, they also work - the cheapest monitor speakers will probably beat more expensive audiophile gear, because monitors have to sound good, wheras, let’s face it, audiophile speakers are aimed at older people who just don’t have the hearing anymore to actually hear where their money went. Again, someone had to say it. Don’t get these if you’re idea of loud is lots of muddy bass though, as you will be disappointed; monitor = balanced sound, not consumer grade muffled bass for mumble rap or whatever. Power Much more powerful than the 4.5, although you often don’t notice it because you also get clarity, which is an odd combination to get your ears around! But turn these up, go outside the room and close the door, and you’ll know! These are nearfield, but the power does carry, and a long way if you turn them up! An advantage of the 5 over 3.5/4.5 is you don’t need the subwoofer, so if you’re after upgrading later, it may be wiser to save some money and go straight for the larger unit. Oh, and the size of the 5 vs the 4.5 isn’t much, and I’d go for the larger 5 and rearrange your desk. They look good, with some nice enhancements. Looks far better than the rev 1. The concerns about it being plasticky are over-stated given the price point. The auto-sleep works well. Some commentators complain they have to turn volume up for it to kick in but I don’t see this at all – the speakers come out of sleep as soon as the PC comes on. All you need to do is ensure your PC has a ‘turn on’ sound and you’re good to go even on low volume. Conclusion The Eris 5 has its problems, but they win where it counts. The biggest downside is the 5 year life of the rev 1. The big win is a usable monitor for cheap. Hopefully the quality control on the rev 2 is higher, but time will tell. I’ll update this review if they ever fail.

Easy to set up and sound great. Bought to finally improve my sound design. You can have Bluetooth running alongside another input. Managed to also connect it to the PS5

They were good while they lasted, but they conked out after 18 months - avoid!

I bought this for sound editing / producing and the clarity is superb, at this price point you will be hard pressed to find anything better.
