The knife is long when you open it, it might be 9" long when open, so it might not be practical or even legal to carry it where you live.But whether it is or not, you will never own a better knife in your life.Sleek, solid, strong, and sharp, in a world and an industry where it's commonplace for companies to use plastic components and tiny screws, there is just nothing like this knife. It's basically a piece of art.Because Amazon wants me to mention it, you can open it with you thumb or index fingers, but a complete idiot could figure out how to work the blade in a about 2 seconds.If it's not too long for you, it's basically the perfect knife.

This is my second Police model Syderco. I bought my first one at a gun show in the late 80's. Loved that knife. I bought one after a friend of mine went camping near Austin Texas. A freak change in the weather unexpectedly dropped temps into the 50's. My two friends we're freezing and wanted to build a fire. But they couldn't find any branches in the dark. They didn't have an ax or any other tools. Not the best prepared campers. So my friend pulls out his Sypderco and starts sawing branches off trees to build a fire. Remarkably his knife although it lost the tips off the serrated blade, stayed in great shape and would still cut through anything.My original knife I used to open boxes and cut just about anything. Hell I used it to remove an infected corn I had on the bottom of my left foot. The corn split open from a cut, and wart formed in it. And surgury to remove it so it would heal was needed. I just pulled out my Sypderco and removed the infected skin. Healed nicely. Didn't even leave a scar. Yeah I was kind of crazy back in my 20's. Should of gone to the doctor!Sadly my ex lost my first Sypderco police special.I saw a old used one at a gun show recently and looked around for a new one. That used one with the tip slightly broken off was the only one I found. Thousands of other knifes. But no knives for me there.So I pick one up a new one on Amazon. Very impressed with it. It was still in the box. Still has oil on it. So far seems very similar to my old knife. My original didn't have much in the way of markings or logos. But other than that seems to be the same.I'll find out in the years to come!

Very nice knife

I've owned a Spyderco Police model for well over twenty years. I was a career firefighter in Massachusetts and progressed through the ranks. I recently retired as Chief and throughout my career, I always carried this knife. I specifically chose the fully serrated edge. It is very thin, so I wore it inside my waistband. It is very well made. It holds a sharp edge through hard use, and I've never had a problem with corrosion or the locking mechanism. I've heard criticism about the handle becoming slippery during use, but it has never been an issue for me. I've established a good hand hold whenever I needed to use the knife. One additional advantage to this blade that I've always appreciated is the fact that, if required in extreme situations, it can cut wire. I've done it. It is not good for the blade, nor do I recommend the practice, but as a Firefighter, I've always been concerned about avoiding entaglement in overhead wires. This can occur when pulling ceilings or overhead collapses. An insulated wirecutter is obviously best, but having a knife that can also help out was always a comfort for me. I worked in a very tough city, and another advantage to carrying this knife is that I always felt that I had something substantial within my grasp that I could defend myself with in close quarters. I recently lost the one that I carried most of the time, but I had a back up to replace it. I just purchased another serrated Police model as my new backup just in case! In my opinion, this is a great choice for everyday carry inside the waist or in the pocket. The fact is, once you have one, you will not want to be without it!

I will be buying another one because the only thing better than one of these beauties is two! This knife feels perfect in the hand and is RAZOR SHARP. There is no doubt about the quality of this knife as soon as you hold it you will know what I mean. This knife has a signature look that never fails to awe and intimidate. I love this knife big time!

I saved the knife for emergencies for cutting anything I need to, it’s always good to have one no matter what. I carry a second knife in my other pocket for cutting every day stuff.

Bought this knife to replace the one I lost. I couldn't be more pleased. I love Spyderco knives (I have 6 different ones) and this Police model is my all time favorite.I bought the one I lost about 15 years ago. This one I just bought from seller is exactly the same except for the word "police" engraved on the blade. My original did not have that feature, but I truly like it one my new one.(Side note: I once was questioned by the NYC Police in Chinatown about my original Police model knife. It seems you cannot carry a VISIBLE knife in NYC, and since they saw the pocket clip on my pants pocket, they stopped me for that. After I explained that it was a knife I use at work, and after I explained to them all about the features of the knife and the Spyderco brand, they just let me go - only after I put the ENTIRE knife into my pocket so it couldn't be seen at all... Go figure!)Anyway, I love my new Police model Spyderco and am very pleased with the seller. Item is exactly as described.Would definitely recommend to family and friends, and highly recommend the Spyderco brand overall.

軽量化の為樹脂素材が採用されることの多い中、発売当初からのステンレスモデル。ボディに無粋なスクリューなど無くずっしりと頼り甲斐有る輝くハンドル、今となっては見慣れた、しかし世に出でたる時はその斬新さに度肝を抜かれた関VG-10ブレード。　もちろんマイナーチェンジは重ねられ刻印やクリップ、そのた微細形態等が改良されてはいるが、本質的にはスパイダルコの開発理念その元を表している形がポリスシリーズであったと思う。　たとえ携帯性に難があり日本人の手にはいささか大きすぎても、ストレート、ハーフ、フルセレーテッドに関わらずどれか一つは一度は使ってみて欲しい。　実は発売当初からすると今は倍近い金額になってしまっている。が、逆に言えばそれだけ物価が移ろうだけの期間を変わらずに生き残ってきて尚未だ製造され続けるナイフである。他にこの様なものがいくつあるだろうか。いわゆるコンパクトナイフやクラシックナイフ以外で。だからラスロックとかノックス、110なんかは除くぞ。　変わらなかったのではなく変える必要のなかった完成されたこの一振り、是非味わってみて。
