Do you feel the whole syringe with water and that’s it or do you have to do it more than once ?

I filled the whole syringe with tepid water when I used this on my Husband. A lot of wax came out but in his case I will need to do it again.
Pointers for use
1) always use a wax softener for at least 3 days before syringing.
2) I will use warm water next time (never hot)
3)  GENTLY syringe into the ear too fierce & you could perforate the ear drum

do you need to soften wax with olive oil for a week before using ??

Not too hot olive oil or ear drops everyday for a week is best! Then with Luke warm water flush out wax, mine took approximately 25 minutes of syringin to clear, but my hearing came back!! Result!!

Question 3

I don't get how you're meant to use it, so you put water in it squirt it in, then what? How do you get the wax out?

Accepted Answer

Before using the syringe, put olive oil, baby oil or wax softening drops into your affected ear or ears for a week.
You will need someone to use the syringe on the affected person, it's hard to treat yourself. 
Wrap a towel round the person's shoulders under their chin. Fill a jug with body temperature warm water 36.9°C or 98.4°F. Place a waterproof receiver under the ear. Then suck the body temperature water into the syringe and insert it into the affected ear and depress the plunger until empty. Water will drain out into the receiver. Keep instilling into the ear until the water runs clear. It may come out gradually in small flakes or larger pieces. It may take 10-15mimutes for each ear or longer
It may take a few attempts. 
Do not proceed if any pain or discomfort or dizziness. Seek medical advice if any concerns.

I have always had waxy ears and feel like i can swallow and taste it, yuk... heard different things about this but wondered how good it actually is.

As long as you make sure to put some olive oil or ear drops sold for the purpose in your ears regularly.(No putting cotton wool in afterwards, lie on your side!) it works fine. It takes quite a few refills to do it but that is because the flow of water is very gentle & should not harm the ear drum.
