1/4 " Crimp Loops Work Very Well
The crimping loops work well, but you must have a proper crimping tool. I will not know of durability until I have used them on wire rope in a wet environment. Crimping loops fit well on 1/4 " wire cable, but only on a freshly cut cable. I tried to fit the first loop sleeve on wire as received from vendor and their cut method was really a crunch method which made the wire end diameter much too large for fitting the sleeve. Bought a 1/4 " cutting tool, cut a new end and sleeve fits easily on the wirel

Aluminum crimp sleeves are not compatible with stainless steel cable
Two things you need to know: 1. Aluminum crimp sleeves are not suitable for use with stainless steel cable, especially for outdoor use. If the crimp gets wet, even from condensation, the aluminum sleeves will corrode rapidly because of galvanic corrosion. Aluminum is the anode in SS-AL pair. This makes AL sleeves an unsafe choice for anything that supports weight, like a trellis, sun sail, or cable railing. The correct choice for stainless cable is a copper or stainless sleeve. Aluminum sleeves are an economical choice for use with utility galvanized steel cable only. 2. The product description includes the statement "Sleeves, when properly applied, are capable of holding the rated breaking strength of the cable to which they are applied." Technically, that's true "when properly applied." The only sleeves that truly reach the breaking strength of the cable are copper and stainless sleeves. The best you can expect from AL sleeves is 75% efficiency, and that's only with the correct size sleeve for the cable, and the correct size and type of swaging tool. DO NOT use aluminum wire rope crimp sleeves on stainless cable for your outdoor projects, period. They'll fail within a few years, even faster if you're near salt water or pollution. Source: Nicopress(R) Technical Bulletin TB-3, Proper Material Selection for Wire Rope Sleeves. (Nicopress pretty much invented the modern cable sleeve as we know it, and they're widely considered an authoritative source for technical info. I have no financial or personal connection to them, but I'm starting to feel a little guilty about not looking for their product first because I learned so much from the technical info on their website. Of course, their products are wildly expensive in small quantities, which is a problem for the average DIY guy on a budget.)
