Perfect... if you understand what it is and what it isn't
This is NOT a universal or infrared or Bluetooth remote, but rather a remote control and receiver pair that permits control of SOME receivers that have a SWC (steering wheel control) input. There doesn't seem to be any standard for the resistor values that SWC inputs use, so this may or may not be compatible with your receiver. If it isn't, there are third-party adapters (eg. Metra Axxess) that may do the job of converting - I rolled my own.Putting aside the compatibility issue, the unit itself worked perfectly. With 5 buttons plus a rotary encoder for volume, I was able to access the most common functions of my receiver, and being able to turn a knob instead of push a button for volume was a big plus for me. There's a little LED on the remote that flashes when the receiver hears the command (not just when it's being sent), so you know that it's working. The control fit perfectly on the wheel of my aging Subaru, though you should try a few different spots until you find the one that works best for you and your steering habits. After about a month the unit died, which I was really disappointed by. Thinking it might just be the battery, I popped the old one out and the little metal clip that makes contact with it fell out as well. It took me five minutes to resolder it, and the unit is now working perfectly again.Bottom line - if this is what you want to buy, it's an ideal example. But if you're after IR or Bluetooth, this is the wrong one.Followup several months later - if you do need to repair the battery clip, make sure you resolder both of them - otherwise you'll just be doing it again in a few months.

Works perfectly on my XTRONS Android stereo
Connect the red wire to ACC Power, black to ground, and the third wire to KEY 1 on the stereo.Works perfectly, and so much safer to use the stereo now. The plastic armband grip works great, and can get really tight. It pairs instantly, and inputs my presses very quickly. The only thing that's a little annoying is the outer ring. You can program it to whatever input you want, I chose volume +/- and it works fine. Just when you spin the dial kinda quickly, it doesn't send the input to the stereo, so you need to spin it kinda slowly. Not a big deal at all really, but the volume dial was half the reason I wanted it.The blue receiver box added a fair amount of bulk to the stereo wiring harness. It was just enough to make it pretty difficult to insert the stereo. Something to think about if your stereo cavity is rather cramped.I've had the remote for less than one week, so I can't really say much about the battery life of the remote. Hopefully I get at least a couple months of usage. All in all, it works great so far, and it wasn't very expensive at $20. It really makes driving and operating the stereo much safer. I would recommend to anyone.

Works great! For five minute intervals...
Worked great for the first month or so. After that, it started getting wonky. I've had it for 5 months now, and the unit works fine for varying amounts of time. Once programmed with the head unit, it might work fine for an hour, but usually only works for five minutes. For some reason, it keeps changing key codes seemingly at random, forcing me to either reprogram all the functions again (super safe to do while driving, right?) or just stop using it. Buy cheap, get cheap.

Buy it only if you have android head unit. It's awesome!!
This thing is awesome!! It works great with aftermarket head unit especially built for Chinese Android head unit. It may or may not works with Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood etc brand radios. It is definitely going to work with Android headunit. I have JOYING head unit and purchased ASWC-1 steering wheel controller and it failed to work. This thing working as I expected and looks good too. See pictures. People with negetivitive reviews don't know about electronics. Research and then buy, don't just leave reviews without knowing its functions.

Perfect for Android head unit
Exactly what I was looking for. Proper steering wheel controls for an Android head unit. No worrying about Bluetooth connections. Works great, no regrets.

Not very happy
The problem is all the screws that hold the back on was out and sitting in the bottom of the cup. I have put it back together and plan on seeing if it works before I send it back.

Did not work with a KENWOOD Stereo.
Did not work. It is an easy set up and attached all wires accordingly. I have a brand new double din KENWOOD stereo “with” the steering wheel wire also. Bluetooth, rear camera, etc... So it is not a cheap radio. I tried everything in my stereo set up including OEM set up. Nothing worked. This did not sync with my stereo.
