HOMCOM 456 CD/ 336 DVD Storage Unit, Media Storage Shelf, Wooden Display Unit with Adjustable Shelves, 89 x 130.5 cm, Beech Wood Finish

A very good quality storage shelving unit that is perfect for blu-ray collections or DVDs. I was able to store my full collection of 300 plus blu-rays easily, with more placed on top shown in the included photo. The instructions were very user friendly with clear steps to follow, good diagrams and numbered pieces, so it was easy to follow. Thankfully there is no need to use glue, as it is just a matter of slotting the pieces together and tightening up each section. The completed unit is also very solid and has a great beachwood finish. For the price, the quality is outstanding. Highly recommended.

Item easy to put together took me around an hour at a steady pace there was an issue on one of the center pieces where you put the supports for the shelves two holes were not drilled out buy luckily i was using all the middle holes for CD storage it would have been an issue if it were for other things. it is slightly taller than i thought but it does fit perfectly for my needs excellent value for money managed to get it at £91.99 saved £13.00 for waiting a few weeks. it does seem sturdy enough but i think i will attach it to the wall to make sure my last unit toppled the other day spilling 770 CD'S ouch lol. The only issue i do have is that it is sent out into two boxes my delivery date was Friday the 13th via Amazon delivery but on Friday an Evri driver knocked my door to say i have a parcel for you was dropped off a couple of doors away and it had been delivered on the Thursday but no email or notification was sent to me about it and the person where it was dropped never even called up to say it was there for me. the other box arrived around 19.00 on Friday night but i had to go out but luckily the driver placed it in my outhouse area and placed bins around it for cover but that is my only issue but for further buyers the company need to be more with it with sending buyers notifications to no where the item is.

Easy enough to put together, looks good. The downside and why I rated this as a 4 is the spacing of the adjustment holes. They are not very compatible as just a dvd storage unit. Still good, and managed to fit quite few (450) movies but not as many as advertised here.

I needed a shelving unit with a slimline footprint to fit in our hallway to relocate all my OH's DVD collection into. I'd calculated that he had about 300 DVDs and this unit's description claims to hold 336 so I took a punt. Initially, I wanted a white unit but the "beech effect" was on special offer so I went with that. When my partner started taking the bits out of the box and started putting the unit together, I thought "All those DVDs are never going in there!" It looked so small! But... Looks can be deceptive!!! The way this storage unit has been designed really does utilise all the space within it to the full, meaning that it can be a lot smaller than the old style shelving units we all used to have. It fits neatly in our hallway and holds all my OH's DVDs and a few games with room to spare. Initially I was doubtful, now I really like it and the colour was right, after all. It blends nicely with our old laminate flooring quite nicely. Oh, and the quality of the MDF is really nice too... things have moved on a bit since the old days! Haha!

Whoever designed this needs to be fired. Seriously. I previously owned a shelving unit from another brand with the exact same overall construction and it worked perfectly. The difference was simple and obvious. That one had continuous adjustment holes, allowing you to place shelves exactly where you wanted, which is the entire point of an adjustable shelf system. HOMCOM decided to do something inexplicably stupid. Instead of continuous holes, you get four holes and then a massive 10 to 15 cm gap with no holes at all, for absolutely no reason. Then the holes continue again. This makes no sense from a design, usability, or manufacturing standpoint. The result is that you cannot position the shelves properly. You are forced to leave large wasted gaps or stack shelves in awkward positions, sometimes ending up with shelves so close together that they are barely usable. This completely defeats the purpose of buying an adjustable shelving unit in the first place. This is not a small inconvenience. It is a fundamental design failure that makes the product frustrating to use every single day. Other brands have already solved this problem properly, so there is no excuse here. Honestly, do not buy this. There are clearly much better designed models available, and this one is a waste of money and patience.

Arrived quicker than I was expecting it was fairly easy to put together with two of us it took less than an hour. Although there are 8 shelves only 6 are big enough for dvds standing upright. The other 2 shelves would be fine for cds. All the parts and screws etc were included plus a few spares and it was all well packaged with no damage at all to any of the parts. Not a cheap product but once put together seems sturdy and should last. Overall very satisfied.

I'm not the greatest fan of flat packed, but this item had good features. The quality of materials was good and the design was simple and efficient. Fixings were good quality and machining was better than average. Accordingly building was easy especially if you have space to lay it out on the floor. Not many tools are needed. I used a rubber hammer, a proper hammer (gentle) and a cross thread screwdriver. There were also additional fittings in case one/two were damaged or lost. My normal complaint is the instructions, but these were good. Due to the simplicity of design they were easy to use and illustrate. Another complaint I usually have about flatpacks is the backing boards which are habitually provided with panel pins to fix it. These are hard for average flat packer, as they don't easily go into the hardened surface, or anything, and keeping the board accurate and steady is full of error. I liked this item however as it has six part boards and some tape to fill the gaps. A drill with a smallish bit helps to stop the skidding panel pins. I used small screws instead. My only real problem was the tiny and inadequate "feet". These should be more substantial. This is not a criticism of the item in question, but the industry norm. In general I would buy other things in the range if required in the future and recommend such to others if ever asked.

Great budget shelving for my CDs, decent quality and fairly easy to assemble. However it doesn’t come with a screwdriver. Pleased with my purchase and would reccomend this unit :)
