These are a big improvement. The added flexibility makes a huge difference in comfort, especially if you’re moving around a lot or working in them all day. They don’t feel stiff like the older version, but still keep that durable, rugged feel. The ripstop material feels high quality and tough enough to handle real use, not just casual wear. You can tell they’re built to last, and they hold up well without feeling heavy or restrictive. Fit is solid, pockets are practical, and overall they just work for both work and everyday use. Definitely impressed with the upgrade—I’ll be picking up another pair. Review: Solid work pants - Upon receiving these I immediately put them to use, wearing them for a week straight on an oddball retrofit framing project that involved a lot of climbing, crawling on hands and knees, crouching in compact spaces and other contortions. They not only held up in perfect condition, but were so comfortable to wear that I barely wanted to take them off at the end of the day (wearing them now too). The gusseted crotch and overall fit gave them much more ease of movement than the typical Carhartt, while the rugged poly-cotton ripstop fabric felt so much lighter, cooler and more breathable than cotton duck, keeping me from overheating while climbing, crawling and running tools high up in a warm building. The elastic waistband is a great comfort feature that lets me wear them without a belt while not feeling restricted or uncomrtable while sitting and crouching. I've even started thinking about wearing them on cool weather hikes and trail runs, outdoor martial arts practice, hunting, landscaping and gardening around the property and other outdoor stuff that requires a bit of athleticism. The fit was true to size. The color I ordered, "dark brown" is just that, a rich dark mocha color that I love. The gusseted legs help taper the pants down from the roomy waistline and hips and thighs, to a regular fit straight leg at the bottom, making them look and feel roomy and yet not overly baggy. The stitching patter around the knees makes it look like they have a double layer of fabric for reinforcement, but I am pretty sure it is only one layer of fabric, which I have mixed feelings about. I don't love the size and placement of some of the pockets though. There is a right front slash pocket to the front of the main hand pocket that looks like it should be a phone pocket but is too narrow for my phone. I've been using it to hold a pencil, sharpie and retractable utility knife, tho for some reason it doesn't comfortably hold my folding blade EDC pocket knife. And placement is too much to the front for a good phone pocket since anything in that pocket will rub or bang against whatever awkward project you are working on. There is a left front mini-cargo pocket to the front of that hand pocket. It has flap closure with hook and loop and I am not sure what else it is good for other than a pistol mag. Since I am not in the habit of carrying pistol mags while at work, I have tried a number of other items including phone, pocket knife, keys, sunglasses etc. This pocket is too narrow for the phone and wallet, too short for sunglasses and utility knife, and everything else I have put in there has felt lumpy or kinda loose and jumbly against the thigh. I would like to see a pair of pants like this with a phone sized slash pocket along with a pencil and folding knife pocket pocket on one side of the leg, and a cargo pocket on the other side. A zippered stash pocket next to the main hand pocket for those can't lose items would also be welcomed. All in all, a great pair of work pants in my book, since I hate the heaviness and restricted feeling of the typical Carhartt-type pants. Even if the tactical pockets are lost on me, I am tempted to try other products from this company, and am definitely going to look for other work pants made with this type of fabric and cut.

Solid work pants

Great pants. I’m glad I finally tried them.
These pants are fantastic. The built-in key loop feeds straight into a clever front pocket that lets me keep my phone and wallet safely away from my keys. All the pockets feature that breathable mesh lining like you’d find in swim trunks, which means no buildup of dust or tiny debris. The thigh pockets are generously sized and perfect for stashing tools, coins, or whatever else—I’ve never dropped a single coin from them. 10/10, I went ahead and snagged a second pair. The elastic waistband is incredibly comfortable and flexible, the zipper and button are top-notch and durable, and overall, they feel lightweight and easy to wear. They’re not overly insulating, so I’m looking forward to rocking them through the warmer months too. I was totally hung up on the M-Tac pants for the longest time, thinking they were the gold standard for work wear, but man, am I thrilled I decided to give these CQR ones a shot instead. They edge out the M-Tacs in comfort and pocket design without sacrificing durability, and at a better price point too—definitely no regrets here, these have become my new go-to.

Bought twice, received two different styles of pants
So, I’ve ordered from this exact same listing twice now. The first time, I ordered the pants in a khaki color and I received a totally different style of pant. This listing seems to be for the CRQ code TLP760 style pant, but I received TXP440 style pants in khaki. They’re pictured with this review, but I wore them to work today, so they’re super dirty at the moment. lol. You’d think I might have been angry that I did not receive what I had specifically ordered, however, they’re actually my favorite pair of pants by far. They’re great for work, super light weight for those blistering summer days. And on top of that they have these breather slits right in the back of the knee. So working in a factory with no A/C like I do, they’re absolutely amazing. I also love that the front thigh tactical “clip” pockets on them are both just non-covered slits instead of one slit style pocket and one covered velcro flap style pocket like the ones in the listing. Makes it easy to carry pens, markers, box knife, whatever. And as a result, they’re both easily accessed whether you're right handed or left. The lower cargo pockets on them aren't velcro either. One is a zipper pocket and the other has a flap, but no velcro, so it's easy to get in and out of. Finally, the key ring is on a belt loop in the back of the pants, so your keys arent in your way all day when reaching for items in the front tactical pockets. Plus, we have to where an ID badge, so having an ID badge on one side and your keys on the other gets annoying and also gets in the way of removing items from those tactical “clip” pockets on the thighs. Placing the key loop in the back avoids this annoyance. They also look very good too, so you could wear them casually. And they seem to be pretty resistant to staining, although not completely. I work numerous jobs in my position at the factory, some involve a lot of oily metal parts. Others involve alot of dirt and dust, etc. You come home filthy every day. Save for the slightest bit of discoloration in the front thigh area, and a dark spot in the exact shape of my wallet on the back pocket that probably came from sitting on something dirty, they look pretty much like new after every wash. Not sure why it only stained where my wallet was specifically and not the rest of my butt, but whatever. lol. Oh, they’re not stretchy in the waist though. That was a selling point I looked for specifically, as well as the front thigh tactical pockets. And since reviews said these pants ran small, I bought a 32 instead of a 30 and then when I got them they hung off my butt a bit. A belt fixed that without a problem though. So to make a long story short, I wasn't upset at all that I didn't receive the exact pants I had ordered because I liked these so much more. When I ordered this listing, I did a lot of research and compared a lot of different brands and styles and landed on these as the best option, but I was still making a couple compromises. After receiving the TXP440 by mistake though, I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. So, I decided to make a second purchase from this same listing in the color black hoping that it would show less dirt as I wore them at work. This time though, I ordered a 30 in the waist after deciding that the brand fit pretty true to size despite what a number of the other reviews claimed. To my dismay, the second time I purchased them I did receive the pants that are actually listed here and I must admit, I’m slightly disappointed and have found another listing for the style of pants I like more that I’ll likely purchase from in the future instead. With that said, the pants aren't bad at all. The material is significantly thicker I will say. Which likely means they’re a bit more durable, but they’ll also be a lot hotter in the summer months and will definitely lead to some mud butt situations here in the south in a factory with no A/C. Hah. Which was admittedly one of the criticisms I saw levied against the pants in other reviews before purchasing them the first time, so whatever. I sort of expected it. I was just really hoping Id get the other style of pants again like I did the first time. I’ll just wear them during colder months I guess. Then the key ring has returned to the front of the pants on this style, so yeah, lame. To me at least. And three of the four additional pockets are the flap style with velcro, with only one slit style clip pocket. But since I’m right handed, the easy access slit style front thigh “clip” pocket is on the wrong side for quick access to pens and knives, etc. For the way I prefer to carry them at least. Still, my original tactical pants had the same velcro flap style clip pocket, so I’ll live. And finally, these do have the elastic stretchy bit in the waist band. Thing is, I bought my last elastic waist style tactical pants in 32 and found that the elastic tightened enough on my 30 inch waist so that I didn't have to wear a belt with them. BUT, if my weight fluctuated a bit as it tends to do and I put on a few pounds in the winter, they still fit great. Since I bought these in 30 though, they fit great, and movement in them is wonderful, but the elastic doesn't seem like its going to give enough to go up a whole pant size if I gain weight. So I would’ve preferred to have these in 32 and only bought them in 30 anticipating receiving the same style pants I did the first time. Hah. So yeah, I hope this helps any potential buyers. Sorry it’s so long, but for anyone wavering a bit between which style to buy, I’d suggest going with the TXP440 instead unless these particular pants are just the exact pants you want for every reason. And even then, be cautious, cause you might order them expecting to get the exact pants in the listing, only to select a color and size that they end up sending you in a totally different pant style all together… Just a heads up.

VERY Pleased with these pants! Perfect fit!
I’m 5’11, 230-235lbs, purchased a 38x30. Perfect fit! I’ve always been so afraid to buy pants online in fear of having to go through the exchange process. These pants were perfect! Not only were they true to size, there’s some stretchiness in the waist which is very comfortable. Squatting, sitting, stretching, lunging, etc VERY comfortable - not tight, not loose (for me). It’s ripstop with a teeny tiny stretch to it. When new - the material sheds water like oil. I didn’t need a towel - it just rolled off and hit the floor. Pockets are very sturdy and decent depth except for back pockets. The back pockets are deep enough for a wallet but not a cellphone. You can put your phone there, but the flap won’t close. There are other pockets on front and side that were deep enough for cellphone though. I spent months looking at pants for camping/hiking that were $150-$700 dollars. For this price - I got exactly what I need to stay in the woods. Will update after my next trip!

So worth the coin!!
So, first: I typically don't do reviews on anything, but in this case, it is a must!! Customer service is also 5 stars, as I had ordered a pair of these, and after checking my inbox 2 days later, it stated Delivered. I never received these pants at all, so I did an Amazon chat, and got a replacement pair two days later!! These aren't the most expensive pants, but it's money I'm glad I didn't lose, so thank you Amazon Customer Service!!! Now, for the pants: These are some of the best pants ive ever had!! While being super cool, and comfortable, and such a variety to choose from, there's also the attributes they are known for, and in my experience with two different pairs, the water resistant claims are amazing, but they didn't mention coffee-yes, coffee! I spilled it all over them, and even before I washed them, Not A Single Stain!!! I pretty much won't wear jeans again!!!

Corners cut in unfortunate places.
The rip stop material itself seems to be good quality I haven't had any tears yet but some stitching is already coming undone and hook and loop closures are already wearing out, a couple of spots outright coming unstitched from the clothing after around 6 months or so. Stitching another random spots is starting to come apart as well, reinforcement stitching around the buttonhole on one of the pairs I got is about halfway gone, no idea where it went. Honestly I would spend my money elsewhere, these aren't cheaper enough versus the competition.
