When PC/Console is switched off then on again does this automatically turn back on or does it require the power button to be pushed before it works?

No, if the power is turned off to the drive enclosure it needs turning back on again with the power button when it is restarted. This is a real pain as I purchased this item because of the previous answer that said it comes back on automatically. It only stays on if you maintain power to it, so it does not remember the previous on/off state when you remove power.

Does it support 12+18 pin MacBook ssd?

Hi. This USB 3.0 3.5" Enclosure is equipped with a SATA III 7+15 Pin connector. So it shouldn't be comaptible with a 12+8 Pin MacBook ssd. Hope the answer helps. UGREEN

i had to purchase a new laptop, i have taken the SATA hard drive out my old laptop, will this device allow me to recover and access files ?

Maybe. This is a great way to physically access your drive, but if this was your old laptop's main hard drive you may well find that it is encrypted, or that the files you want are stored in a section only accessible by your old user login. The actual product is great, but unless the files you are after are not secured, then this won't help much (neither will any external caddy).

I have used this device with no issues, no physical damage, and no extra noise, it is recognized but not accessible.

Eject your device from whatever computer or media player it’s connected to safely ,turn power off. Now check if the hardrive is securely firmly connected and not loose in it. Just take it out and reinsert it in your ugreen. If it’s still not working and it’s still under warranty just return ang get a new one. If you have a spare hardrive check if it works with it, your hardrive is faulty.
