What I needed
Bought this so I could monitor the trailer I'll be towing. Tested this out this morning, 18 Aug, after it arrived. It looks like it will be perfect for what I need. Now to find some time to route the wiring, and do a permanent install. UPDATE: Installation is complete, 20 Aug. It took a while, but it's done. Hardest part was finding a suitable access point through the firewall that wasn't covered by sound dampening material. I used the 12V accessory adapter rather than connecting it into the backup lights. This supplies constant power to the monitor and camera. Installation in this configuration requires running the camera wire from the truck cabin through the firewall back to the camera. The night vision works well, and the picture came up with the correct orientation, so I didn't have to flip, or mirror the screen. Going to use the adhesive pad to mount the monitor to the dash, as I just have it sitting there right now. I will say even though it isn't attached using the adhesive pad, it is still pretty stable. Since the truck is lifted, the camera sits high enough it isn't obstructed by the coupler, or trailer tool box. Definitely worth it. SECOND UPDATE: Out driving today, 22 Aug, and turned it on for an operational road test. Yep, it's awesome. Very clear picture, and actually better resolution than the built in backup camera.

7" and the camera FAR superior to the 4.3" and its camera
The 7" package is a great value, though there are some quirks and quality control issues (not unexpected at that price point). I had purchased the 4.3" system first, thinking that my 2005 Tahoe would better accommodate the screen where I wanted it to go (between the two 12V power outlets in the dash). It fit there fine, but the screen was quite small and the resolution of the camera poor. What really caused me to reconsider was the underwhelming low light visibility (nightvision) of that camera, which claimed to be sensitive to 0.1 Lux. The white LEDs on it blew out the trailer hitch and darkened the surrounding field of view. I didn't want to cut the white wire to find out if that made things any better until I had a chance to see the 7" system side-by-side. I'm glad I did. The 7" screen is larger, obviously, and it fit snugly between the two 12V chargers just perfect to be held there without the base and rest on the dash lip. The camera was also far superior to the 4.3" system. The thin metal bracket mounting behind the plate makes the installation more tidy, neat, and OEM-like as compared to the bulky plastic front-mount only 4.3" camera. The only thing hanging over the plate is the camera itself for the 7" system. What was also interesting was that the camera from the 4.3" was not compatible with the cable or display of the 7" screen (I had tried to plug in the 7" camera to the 4.3" wire+display to no avail. So too with the charger. It seems nothing is interchangeable between those systems despite having the same physical wiring harnesses. I tested the two systems side-by-side and you can really tell the difference in person on the image quality. I have not yet had a chance to test out the new 7" package's camera at night, but hope it lives up to the technical specification (also 0.1 Lux). It looks like there are also IR LEDs? They don't light up when the camera is activated, and there's no "string" (cable) to cut to permanently turn them off (unlike the 4.3" system). The image rotation and inversion are all done on the screen itself, and bizarrely, that also mirrors/inverts the menus! Probably the result of cheap electronics inside that don't process the image but rather just reverse everything sent to the LCD screen. I also really like the adjustability of the backup lines on the screen. That makes it more accurate visually to approximate the vehicle's width (which is significant for an older GM product), as well as account for a bumper, and push the lines up the screen some. Next, the documentation was clear enough and says there's a 24-month warranty and replacement policy. In the end, based on what appears to be progressive product improvement together with a commitment to customer support, I'm pleasantly surprised at the offering from a foreign company to rise to domestic consumer expectations.

eRapta knows best about RV cameras
These cameras are very useful with a narrower field of view in compare to the competition. They worked straight out of the box and customer service is also great. The negative reviews by others are not true as some simply don't know how to set up a simple configured device. Great quality and performance.

Good buy
I purchased this for my 2008 Ford Explorer. It has been installed for about a month now and is working fine. I give it a five star rating based on the combination of price, quality, and customer support. it works, and the color image is clear. It does the job and I feel much more confident when backing. Just a few observations. First, the instructions do not explain how to hook it up if you want to connect to your reverse lights to have it on it come on when backing up. It DOES include the wiring for that. I contacted customer support and they were quick to respond. Once I figured that out, it just took me about 90 minutes to complete instillation. Taking the panel off my back hatch door to complete the wiring was the most difficult part. The surface of my dashboard would not accommodate the suction cup, And I did not want to mountain on my windshield. But there is a small, recessed tray in the dashboard above the stereo with a smooth flat surface. I used the mounting bracket and attached it to that surface with Velcro. It also takes three or four seconds for the image to appear once the car is placed in reverse. A minor inconvenience. And initially, for just a brief moment, a stock image appears before the camera image. But for $40, I think it is a good deal. I donโt know how you can manufacture a color camera, color monitor, and wiring, then package and ship it for that amount. So again, the 5 star review considers all of these factors. FOLLOW UP: Six months later and it is still working very well. The image is better than the factory installed camera in my wife's six year old Honda Odyssey.

First lasted a season. Second one dead within a month. Third one dead a month after that.
Updated review: This should get no stars. The third of these outlasted the second only slightly. It managed four tows (two out and two back). Itโs apparently died within the last two days. These devices simply are not robust. The installations are good: soldered, waterproofed, wires kept tidy and shielded. Each time a camera has died Iโve only had to unplug the dead one, plug in the new one, waterproof the plug point, pair to the new screen, and they work. So this is not an electrical problem. This is a camera problem. The second one of these I bought lasted for just one half of a tow: one way. I now have to drive over 10 hours home with no rear view, and the return window is closed. Put another way, it lasted less than a month. Again, the camera is dead: itโs been thoroughly checked. Again, I have ordered another in hope it will somehow last but after that one dies I will switch to a more professional solution. (I am trying yet again because of the time expended integrating this solution with the vehicles.) I wonder if there is any use for the various screens, which work but are locked to different dead cameras! The concept is great and it works well when it works, but these cameras do not last. The latest one hasnโt even been exposed to bad weather! I appreciate the full refund provided by eRapta for the first dead camera. While it works, this is fine. Iโve just replaced it with a second one because the first one died almost exactly a year after installation. I bought a second one because Iโd hardwired the first one and a direct replacement was easiest. So far as I can tell, a slightly colder than normal winter killed the camera. Of course, one seems unable to just replace the camera or the monitor. This is at best a temporary solution.

It's a $50 backup camera
So it's a $50 backup camera I like the size of the display and the wire is extremely easy to run just make sure you have zipties if this is going on a truck just to keep the wire neat. in the daytime using strictly as a backup camera it works fine nothing fancy. But it's also a $50 backup camera the display feels very cheap and if you want to use it as a rearview mirror which was the main reason i bought it for it falls way short during the day and unusable at night I almost never use it but it would be to much of a hassle to unwire the unit to send it back with all of that said if you want a plug and play BACKUP camera this is a pretty good deal however if you want it to use for a rearview mirror look else where this is definitely NOT a good choice. I uploaded a picture and then a video first part of the video is backing up at night and the second half is of driving at night. Just a heads up the screen looks better at night in the video then it does in real life
