Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch Green Tea Mattress, Queen, Ivory

Received it 4 days ago. Got here fast.Intact and packaged well. Got it opened up and cut/broke the seal and poof! Within 24 hours it was totally filled and looked great. Corners were sharp and defined. The firmness was consistent and I was pleasantly surprised when I gave it a 2 minute test drive. It really is better than I expected. My test drive would have been much longer if not for the 1 "catch" in all of this. The odor is pungent to the point of only being able to tolerate it 5 or 7 minutes. It is not a mold or chemical smell. I have since had a total of 7 people,(delivery men),bring furniture into the apartment. I said nothing about it and waited. I watched for there reactions. All of which were almost immediate and commented on in vivid detail as they compared the odor to sources I won't go into for sake of "Too much info!". They never physically stepped into the bedroom. I have sealed up the return vent and basically sealed the room off with a small fan at first. I have now moved up to a good size fan and the 2 large windows are opened round the clock.. That said I have every intention of following up with an update in the next few days. Hence the 3 stars. I had already factored in time for something like this after reading the reviews. The manufacturer recommended 72 hours. I had figured on 5 or 6 days into my plans. While I am concerned I am really hoping things will level out and the odor will dissipate. As I had mentioned this mattress really looks and feels great. Things like this often turn around completely and all is fine. I feel optimistic for 2 good reasons. #1: I bought it from AMAZON and #2:from my research the manufacturer is focused on customer satisfaction almost as much as AMAZON is. In the meantime check back in a few days. I am definitely going to follow up on this. I am just as curious as any one else who is looking at this mattress. Tune in later... UPDATE: 5/14/18 Day 6 and fan(s) continue to run 24hrs round the clock.Am very concerned but still hopeful. Most unsettling is that the odor has not dissipated AT ALL! It remains pungent to the point of picking up the odor downstairs and outside that side of the garage. Spoke with Zinus customer service. Had no problem getting through to associate. Explained issue and asked for possible ideas. She suggested that I might try some dryer sheets and continue to air it out for another week if possible. I asked if putting it outdoors in a protected place would help. She said yes but don't do it if it was too difficult for me. She was sincerely concerned that I would risk hurting myself in moving it outside.She told me that she would like me to call them back in a week to let her know how things were going. She said if things have not improved by then we would discuss an exchange. Something I REALLY hope doesn't happen but I think it is important to point out that even with all this hassle I feel it would be worth the trouble. Only because outside of the terrible odor, every other characteristic of this mattress is (at the price), is quite remarkable. I feel the associate I spoke with was not handing me a line and that she was in fact sincere. She meant what she said. So I guess time will tell. I will continue to give updates.(another first for me with AMAZON but worth the effort). A good 75% of my purchasing decisions on AMAZON ride on the reviews. I know they take them seriously only because at times in the past, when I have discussed a return with them directly, the process involved the validity of some of the reviews I had read during the decision making of a purchase. Over the years they have been consistent with their efforts and bent over backwards to make things right the few times there was this type of issue. What makes this so unique for me is the SIZE of the item we are dealing with and my inability to "shrink" it back to it's shipping size. I'm off to the laundry room for some dryer sheets and as before I'll be updating this possibly in the next few days, but definitely in a week. I am still concerned but trying to remain positive and stay focused on a good outcome.. UPDATE: 5/25/2018 Just over 10 days since last update. Wanted to make sure. Kept up with the fans and per instructions, the dryer sheets. Was really getting discouraged by the 6th day so I called Zinus. Call went through first try and was on hold less than 5 minutes. Gave info to the associate and she had my history up in no time. She had enough so I didn't have to start from the beginning,(thank goodness). Told her exactly what I had done and let her know my concerns and frustration. It became clear that she was in fact listening to what I was telling her. She could see in the notes that I had been in contact with both Amazon and Zinus during this time with the status of things. She was never once dismissive. Her answers were direct and honest. She made it clear that enough time had passed and it was time to begin the process of replacement. Her only request was that I contacted Amazon once more and tell them about our discussion and that I did in fact need and qualify for a replacement. She told me to see if Amazon would agree with handling the exchange and that if there was any"push back" on there part,(which she doubted), to go the the Zinus web site, click on a particular link and start the replacement"Ticket" process. At that point it was made very clear to me this was not a hand off, and that every thing was going to be taken care of. It was just a question of which one was going to do it. I called the Amazon number she gave me. In less than 10 minutes every detail was taken care of and an extra minute was taken to make sure I knew everything was going to be fine and every concern had been addressed and eliminated. 4 days later the replacement arrived. The minute I broke the seal I knot only knew it was OK, it smelled GREAT! Seriously... Less than 24 hours later the filling out process was complete and just like the first, the corners were sharp and defined. Last measurement was 11 7/8 inches. I think it is safe to say I will make it through the rest of my life and be fine with the knowledge of having lost that 1/8 if an inch. I feel it necessary to mention some of the negative reviews directed toward the customer support of both Amazon and Zinus. I will be honest about the hassle factor in all of this. To say it has not been would be a blatant lie. I was just as upset as anyone who found themselves in this dilemma and I made it clear to all I spoke with. However, NEVER once did I tear into anyone I spoke with or feel it necessary to do so. Even given the amount of time I spent. Heck, this darn review has taken a chunk of time but the reason I am doing this is the very reason I come to Amazon. They have never failed to be fair and honest with any return/exchange issue. I have found if I am honest and reasonable with any Amazon associates they take care of it every time. The few and rare times I have had an issue with one of their suppliers Amazon has stepped in, usually before I even ask, and bent over backwards to make sure things were not just dealt with, but that it was done to MY satisfaction. Over the years Amazon has proven to be consistent in all issues similar to this one. Say what you will but in my 61 years on this earth I have never had the ongoing support focused totally on the consumer from any retailer at a level comparable to what Amazon provides. If something goes wrong, they do everything they can to fix it. What more can you ask for? Well done Amazon, and thanks!

EDIT: 3 month update.....I'm still leaving it at 5 stars. We have now had this mattress for just over 3 months and still love it. I am falling asleep faster, staying asleep and waking up feeling more rested. I have slept on both sides and even in the middle of the mattress and have equal comfort anywhere. I normally have 3 dogs hogging the bed and what's really nice is I barely notice if they get up and move to a new spot, even if it's right next to me. I no longer feel like my husband is doing backflips if he turns over in the middle of the night either. Even the one night the mattress pad didn't make it into the dryer in time for bed I did notice the difference the mattress pad makes in not making this mattress feel as firm, but it was still quite comfortable, just not as comfortable. I have no complaints. There were no smells with ours to start with so that never was a problem and it's still at a full 12" evenly across. I'm in the camp of those who were really skeptical of buying a mattress online. Especially a foam one since I've had a regular pillow top one for the past 10 years. Yes it was time for a new mattress! I had been shopping around for a new mattress for a few months trying out different ones, getting pricing and trying to make a decision which is kind of a big deal when you're more than likely looking at spending a lot of money. A friend suggested we consider the foam mattresses and that Amazon had some good prices on them. I headed to a local store to give their version of these mattresses a try and I was surprised how comfortable they were. After testing them out I decided to see what Amazon reviews had to say about the ones they offered. I read through the good and the not so good and the flat out bad reviews and decided to take a chance and see what arrived. I am super happy I did! Granted it's only been 2 weeks but so far we love this mattress! I had read the multiple reviews saying theirs didn't inflate correctly, had a foul odor, was lumpy, etc....thankfully none of that was true of what we received. To break it down..... cons... It is a firm mattress no doubt. I am someone who likes to pretty much sleep in a cloud and am a side sleeper so it's taken some getting used to. Since the cost of this mattress was so good I went ahead and ordered a high quality mattress cover/pad and for me it's really helped make adjusting going from a plush pillow top to a firm bed a lot easier. Going from a spring mattress to a foam ones takes some adjustment on the support on the sides. Obviously the spring ones tend to have more of a frame around the edges so sitting on the side of the bed is different. I wouldn't say it's bad but it's not as supportive. We will probably need to get a new bed frame here sometime soon. While the box springs we had from our old king are still in great shape the lighter weight mattress tends to slide and needs to be shoved back into place every night before going to bed. Not really any fault of the mattress it's just a con that I'll need to replace the bed itself in order to stop this from happening. Another con that's not the fault of the mattress it's just my bad luck....I missed where this was on sale just after Thanksgiving because I was still pondering what kind of mattress to get. So I paid the higher, yet still on sale, price. 4 days later it went back on sale again and has remained $40 cheaper for over a week now. Bummer for me, but still a good deal, just not as good of a deal as if I'd waited 4 more days to decide. On to the good stuff Pros..... Per my experience I say buy this mattress. Don't wait, grab it at the price it is now. I did not notice any sort of foul odor but I did open the windows and had the ceiling fan going while it inflated. It inflated to the full 12" and did so within an hour. We were sleeping on the mattress withing 4 hours of setting it up. It fit where our old king size was perfectly with no overhang or shortages size wise. It's around 2" taller than our old mattress so that took a little getting used to but it measured 12" with a regular school ruler. It was well packaged and fully deflated ready to go when it arrived. I'm a big girl and my husband is a fairly big guy and we both sleep comfortably on this mattress with our 3 large breed bed hogging dogs. When my husband moves at night he does so like a fish out of water and I have noticed he doesn't wake me up turning over because it's not bouncing me around like our old mattress did. I don't even really notice a dog moving around to a different spot. I'm a side sleeper who would love to sleep in a cloud so this did take some getting used to but it's never been uncomfortable. The first night getting to sleep and finding a comfortable position took a little bit but I could instantly feel I was better supported and my hip and shoulder didn't have the pressure it normally would. When I turned onto my back I felt almost like I was sleeping in a hammock. Not totally of course but the extra support was there where it hadn't been before. With what I saved on the mattress I went ahead and bought a nice mattress pad/cover to put on top to make it a little more soft. I had always been told you can make a firm mattress more soft but you can't make a soft mattress more firm so if it's too firm invest in a good pad and it can make a lot of difference if you prefer a softer bed. What I noticed right away is when I woke up I wasn't as sore. I feel a lot more rested in the morning and I'm not waking up to turn over or move around near as much as I was. Granted our old mattress was 10 years old and that had a lot to do with it, but still this mattress is obviously better and keeps me in a deep sleep for longer periods throughout the night. My husband also says he's sleeping better and isn't flopping around like he had been doing with the old mattress. He's the one of us always complaining about being hot while sleeping and he said he hasn't noticed this mattress makes that any worse, and if anything since he's not moving around so much it's better. We like it so much we plan to order the 8" version for our kid's bunk bed here soon. As we get more use of out this I will try to update this review for how it's holding up. I don't expect to get 10 years out of it, granted i probably shouldn't have tried to get 10 years out of the older one but it held up for at least 8-9 of those years. For this price I'd be happy if it lasts a couple of years. If it lasts longer even better. I highly suggest if this is too firm for you to buy a nice mattress pad and to buy it while it's at the price it is now.

I tend to be very critical when reviewing a product but this 12" memory foam mattress deserved a good rating. The reasons are for 1. Packaging (definitely matters when it comes to something as big as a mattress that you have to handle on your own), 2. Level of comfort, and 3. Val0ue. I want to also include the fact that I have 4 bulging discs from a bad accident and bought this for the level of support and comfort one gets from a memory foam mattress. 1. The Packaging: I'm not the strongest or tallest person and had no one to help with getting this on my platform bedframe. Oh yes and I live on the second floor of an apartment building with no elevator and slightly uneven stairs. But I was a able to get it done without hurting or straining anything. The packaging was solid and convenient enough to allow for some sliding and scraping of the package prior to getting it into my apartment and still not damaging or dirtying the mattress. I had to pickup this approximately 5'8" package at the local UPS pickup center because my apartment building has a front gate that has to be manually opened and if they had left it in front of my door, it would block the walkway and would most likely have been taken anyways. I also had to rent a Home Depot pickup truck to pick this up, it would not have fit into my 2 door coupe. This would fit into a large SUV with the seats folded down but the box that it came in is approximately 5'8" x 18" x 18" (check the product details for exact measurements) and will definitely not fit into the trunk of your typical sedan. I was able to lift (maybe 40-50lbs?) this and get it into the pickup. Getting this up my stairway was the challenge and to do this I had to flip it from end to end on the stairs. The packaging was a hard cardboard box and withstood the tumbling. Once the box was removed, I found that the mattress was compressed, rolled-up, vacuum sealed in heavy plastic, and inserted into a solid plastic/polyester protective bag (kind of like the carrying bags of sleeping bags). This protective bag kept the mattress protected and was removed by tearing the perforation. It required a little bit of effort, but was doable without scissors. I then had to unroll it with the zipper fabric cover side down, carefully cut the plastic vacuum wrap and that was it. The mattress did have to be flipped so that the proprer side was on the bottom but it was easy enough. The mattress rose to its intended thickness within 24 hours, and most of it within 30min. All in all, the packaging was well done and I was able to set it up by myself without damaging the contents. The mattress itself had a fabric zippered cover that I kept on and I also put the entire mattress into a vinyl zippered cover. 2. The Feel of the Mattress: Comfortable due to the softness yet supportive aspect of memory foam but I could slightly feel the foundation frame underneath. I opted for the 12" mattress because obviously the thicker the mattress, the higher amount of memory foam material as well as the support foam underneath. I read a review for an 8" mattress and the writer mentioned that she would have gone for at least a 10". I put this on a metal platform foundation and I believe that if I had gone for anything less than 12", I would not be giving it a 5 star for comfort. This mattress was definitely supportive and took pressure off of my back and joints. It had enough memory foam material that I sank in some but was supported by the base layer of support foam. For a little around $270 with taxes, I doubt that I would have found a comparable mattress with this level of comfort. Yes, it memory foam is known to trap a bit of heat and I did feel more heat than a spring mattress but I do sleep with the AC on so it wasn't an issue. If you are one that is very averse to heat or sweat easily as I do, you may want to consider a gel infused top. I didn't feel like I was in the clouds but it was comfortable enough with enough actual memory foam for the feel. 3. Value: Definitely well priced. I had visited a Tempurpedic both at the OC County Fair and the price was nearly $2K. This mattress didn't feel as good as that model but for $270, I doubt that I would have found another mattress with memory foam. I had looked at a lot of options on Amazon and for a 12" thick option with Certi-Pure certification, along with infused carbon material to keep it from smelling, this mattress was the best priced out there. Plus, you technically don't need a boxspring and a platform frame could be purchased for as low as $60-$70 increasing the value. So all in all, if you are considering a memory foam option, this one is the one to go with.

Okay... this is an edit to the below, because after a few weeks of sleeping on this mattress and getting "used" to it, I have some more honest feedback. Falling asleep still takes a long time. The firmness isn't comforting. That aside, my low back pain has all but disappeared. I've traded that for new shoulder/upper neck pain. Ive since gotten one of those ergonomic neck cradling pillows that's shaped super weird to see if that helps. Like the mattress, it is difficult to fall asleep with, but it is also helping. Sometimes our preferences are the problem. I'm going to give this pillow more time. I'm sold on the mattress now. Its almost as hard as a rock but that seems to be what's better for my body. So I may not like it, but my body is happier and the results are more important. Original review below. I want to know what their idea of firm feels like because this is like sleeping on a slightly softened brick. I had a 3k mattress get ruined and was causing grief when trying to sleep so I researched for months for a replacement and stumbled on this as the most rated/trusted brand. I now regret not just buying a mattress in person. This is not medium firm. This is slightly softer than pavement firm. As a side sleeper with a low back injury who tends to sleep hot, trying to find the mattress to fit these needs is difficult. I was hoping this was it, but alas, I was wrong. This is so firm that even with a mattress topper it doesnt feel like I have topper on. Which is nuts! All I can say is I hope it softens over time because I have no way of getting my old mattress back. The only bonuses are the fit, size, noise level. But you don't feel people moving next to you on concrete so of course you'll hardly notice it on this bed. Serious buyers remorse. Will update later if that changes.

For several yrs I've rented the same cabin in NH, w/ this mattress, and I love it. This past June I finally decided enough already! I checked the tags and identified what brand/model and ordered it while still on vacation. It's my 1st foam mattress. After 1+ month I still love it. I'm a 70 yr old male, 6ft 215#. This mattress has virtually eliminated overnight wake ups to pee. Research shows that a deeper sleep can avoid that and this mattress gives me deeper, better sleep. Set up was easy. Removed old mattress and unrolled this one on the box spring. Slept on it the next night. No odor problem at all. My previous daily wake-up lower back stiffness now happens maybe every 10 days. I really love this mattress. And, it's literally the least expensive I've ever bought.

I've had this mattress for about a week now. I keep reading conflicting reviews which make me think the company changed the mattress at some point. Even the title says new version so that could be why so many different experiences. I'll start off by saying I'm a 36 year old female I typically sleep on my sides or back. I usually sweat a lot. I'm about 150lbs my son is 8. Back story I just moved and my old memory foam mattress was over 10 years old and was really needing to be replaced. My Chihuahua recently died from a cancerous tumor on her foot and it was bleeding and leaking all over my old mattress. My young son and our opossum also share the bed with me and my son gets nose bleeds quite often. A gallon of milk got dumped on it at one point, peed on, moved a few times once in the rain so it had really been abused but it was still the most comfortable bed I had ever slept on even after 10 years. I even sprayed it down with bleach a few times because of what I just said and even vinegar, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, you name it and it held up great. Only problem was i had no idea what brand it was only that it was memory foam so unfortunately I had no way of ordering the same bed as my old one. This mattress: Smell So i just moved to a new area far away from where I used to live and figured I'd buy a new mattress and just put the mattress directly on the floor so I didn't have to move my whole bed etc. lots of the reviews people complain about a strong smell. I didn't notice any type of smell whatsoever even putting my face in it and taking a big whiff straight out the box. The mattress inflated immediately and although I didn't measure it, I slept on it about 4 hours after I unboxed it. It's now been a week and feels and looks exactly like it did 5 minutes after taking it out of the box. Firmness: Lots of reviews say how firm and hard the mattress is. Mine was listed as medium firmness and although I prefer a firmer mattress I went ahead and ordered it because most of the reviews say it's firmer than expected. I would say it's medium to soft. It definitely sinks in more than my old one did. I sit in bed alot with my back up against the headboard/ wall and I can tell my butt is sunken in way more than my old mattress and my butt is obviously lower than my feet when sitting up in bed. It is comfortable to sleep on but it does take a second to plump back up after I get up or change positions. Cover It says the mattress comes with a removable cover and reviews say it has a zipper. I could tell the bottom side from the top because it looks different and different material. I haven't messed with the zipper but one review said it's a fake zipper. Not sure about mine. The mattress came with the cover already on it and I haven't tried to remove it yet. My roommates son peed on it this evening and now I am wondering and hoping the cover is waterproof. By the look and feel of it I'm guessing it isn't. I will be updating my review as time goes by and say how easy it is to remove, how it holds up in the wash and how easy it is to get back on as well as what the actual mattress looks like without the cover but for now I just blotted up the pee with a clean towel and sprayed it with disinfectant and blotted again. Fingers crossed. I've also read conflicting reviews about weather or not you can flip the mattress and sleep on either side. Some say you can't some say you can. Im guessing if the cover is removed and the mattress is flipped and the cover is put back on zipper still underneath it might work but the position of the zipper wouldn't be comfortable to sleep on as it's not along the edge of the mattress but again I'll update my review when I cross that bridge. The description does show the different layers that make up the mattress so I could understand why some reviews say you can't flip it. Temperature The description says cooling and Its hard to tell because i now live in a new place further south and I have a roommate that keeps this place warmer than what I'm used to. Because of that, I now sleep with a fan although I didn't used to but so far I haven't woken up sweating yet. Size This is supposed to be a 12 in. King mattress and although I didn't measure it, my sheets do fit the same way they did before... Pretty damn tight. I think next time I buy sheets I'm gonna get the extra deep kind because it is fairly difficult to get the sheets on. I may even get a foam topper just as an extra layer of protection too since I was so hard on my old mattress and this one already got peed on and my current sheets definitely won't fit if I add a topper. That will be easier to replace when it gets yucky and I'm also ordering a waterproof cover Incase this one isn't ( I'm fairly certain it isn't or the description would have said so.) Update: It's now been almost a year the mattress is completely dipped in in the center it's the most uncomfortable soft mattress I've ever slept on I really wish I would have gotten the protection plan because I spent $400 on it and the bed sucks I'm now looking for a firm mattress this bed is horrible and it didn't even last a year I never had back pain until a couple months after sleeping on it now my back and all my joints hurt I'm very upset

We slept on this mattress at a resort cabin in Chattanooga. I called the owner to learn the brand because we liked it so much. Been sleeping on it now for several months. It feels very firm when you first lie down, but give it a chance. The memory foam slowly molds to your shape, but not so much so that it grabs you or holds you stuck in place. So, it's easy to roll over. We are both side sleepers and notice we sleep longer in one position with no pressure points on our hips or shoulders. A big benefit is is no sag in the middle because our combined weight that used to make us roll to the middle and go bump in the night even in our spendy Sleep Number matress. The Zinus is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Setting up was simple. The new foam smell was mild and faded rapidly so we slept on it after only 24 hours of letting is expand. It's heavy, so you'll want a hard, smoot base instead of a fabric box spring if you want to slide it around. and you'll definitely want two people if you want to move it to another room. The price/quality ratio here is remarkalble.

Of course, if your space is limited, choose what fits your room. 3. Comfort and support This was the main reason I replaced my old mattress. I’m NEVER going back to a traditional Mattress and this is why. I’m a mother of 5 going on 6 kids. We have a strict budget. I’ve struggled to find a good mattress that’s affordable for literally years!! I’ve tried all sorts of toppers that cost me an arm and a leg. I’ve spent good money on expensive traditional mattress’s. Until last year, I broke my back in a horse riding accident, in 4 different places, I’ve been having a hard time sleeping ever since. My back is never happy, doesn’t matter what I sleep on I always wake up in pain. I spent the night at my sister’s one night, and I couldn’t get over how comfortable her mattress was. She said it was just a cheap mattress from Amazon. I was like what! So I started looking into the “bed in a box” and I bought this one. And when I tell you that this mattress is the BEST mattress, I mean it! It’s soft but firm, it shapes to your body, you feel supported yet comfortable, I slept like a BABY last night! And I didn’t even have to wait for it to inflate, it just puffed up as soon as I opened the package. Quality is everything to me, and this is GOOD quality. I got the 12 inch king, only because I’ve never tried these beds before, and since they are basically foam and air I wanted the maximum thickness to prevent it from flattening. But this mattress is STRONG, it feels like a magic trick, and I loved the experience of unboxing. We threw it on a platform bed frame I bought, and BAM! My life is changed forever. I bought 3 twin sizes for my kids too of a different brand. Those ones are great too, but took longer to inflate. This one was even better. We ALL love our beds in a box. I can’t wrap my head around all the wasted money on traditional mattress’s and fancy toppers over the years. Not only that! It was so convenient to haul in my car, just a box. Not this awkward big mattress that needed a truck, no you can fit this box in the trunk of your car. Which is also very convenient, because I live a ways out of town and I get my Amazon packages delivered to a friends house. So when I brought this home it was soooo convenient. I’m so thankful and blessed that I get to have good sleeps now. Which is literally everything when you’re a mom like me, with a back injury. I can’t shut up about it, I feel like I have hope for good rest, and that means everything to me! It’s horrible living with chronic pain and constant fatigue from terrible sleeps. I could cry I’m so happy. Please if your like me! Consider it. It’s worth every penny. And I don’t get anything out of writing this review other than just hoping that someone else can find relief too! Sleep is so important. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk! lol

I’m really happy with this mattress! It’s perfect if you truly want quality and comfort. The mattress feels very premium, and the packaging is excellent. It doesn’t have any springs and uses memory foam, which makes it even more comfortable. If you’re looking for a nice, soft, and supportive mattress, this is definitely the one to go for!

I think this mattress deserves higher price. I just got it and love the texture, natural smell..It will definitely serve me great! Love it!

I am really impressed with the product. Itself so far, but it hasn't even been a full month yet. I find it to hold up really well, and it does sink in slightly which supports your body. But it's also very firm, which I appreciate too I have a really bad back and I have chronic pain a lot, my husband however Thinks it's a little bit too hard. I think it's just perfect. It expanded the way it was supposed to, and it's 14 tall, just like it's supposed to be. But I did wait 72 hours before we slept on it. The shipping sucked for the first time. I ordered, and it never showed up. So I had to have a replacement scent. I don't really have many complaints about the bed. Itself so far, but I will update in the future. I find this to be a good quality bed for the price. It saved me from having to spend 3000 or more. On a so-called higher quality brand name bed.

Mattress is thick. It might be too soft if you have a bad back as it sinks in a bit when sleeping on it. I love it though and recommend it. Very comfortable!
