Germinated the second year
Did not seem to germinate well the first year, but year two, Holy Cow!!! They took off like wild fire. Perfect for tea, and I will be trying to make fiber from the stalks.

Didnโt grow a bit - Unreliable
Hasnโt grown in, even with cold stratification. Theyโre very small seeds, looking like thin shredded leaves. Theyโre a bit green and dark, like basil seeds but much smaller. They seem very dry too, but my efforts to get them to sprout even in large quantities has failed no matter the method. Surface planting, cold stratification, paper towel, even a few combined. Never grew in. The value was not very good considering - hey - they didnโt sprout at all. Not a single one. They looked very shriveled and dry for what looked like a long time. Long story short, they didnโt grow even with the right methods and wrong methods. I waited a month for them to sprout and nothing came. I would definitely like a refund for this, not worth it. Very disappointed.

Slow germination
Updating my review. As of today 17 seeds have sprouted. It has taken almost twice the amount of time stated for germination, so dont give up. Fingers crossed these will continue to grow in our zone 10. You must be extra patient waiting for germination.

An important plant if you are trying to attract butterflies to your garden.
My wife wanted these seeds because she is turning out backyard into a butterfly and pollinator habitat. Stinging Nettles attract several species of butterfly. In my area the Red Admirals and Commas need them to lay their eggs and as food for the caterpillars. The seeds need to be cold stratified which can easily be done using either the outdoor method or the refrigerator method. Since she has a large number of seeds that need stratification, she intends to start each variety in a separate pot, placing the pots outside so they can receive the natural freeze/thaw cycles as if they were scattered on the ground. In the spring, seedling recognition will be very easy, as will be transplanting all her young plants. The price for these seeds was very reasonable and there is a good amount of seeds for the price.
