Stunning glare-free matte finish and a beautiful, rich teal pigment!
I picked up this ELEGOO Matte PLA in Teal Green to print a series of custom desktop storage trays, decorative planters, and low-stress enclosure panels. Standard glossy PLA can frequently look cheap and draws immediate attention to tiny surface imperfections or visible layer lines. This specialized matte formula completely removes the plastic glare, leaving a premium, stone-smooth texture that looks incredibly high-end. It operates as a truly great filament that handles daily workshop printing beautifully. Why this matte filament is an exceptional upgrade: Flawless Light-Diffusing Matte Texture: The absolute standout feature of this PLA is the quality of the finish. The non-reflective surface scatters light perfectly across flat walls and curved geometry alike, doing a phenomenal job of completely masking visible layer lines and infill paths to give parts a clean, injection-molded look. Beautiful, Highly Saturated Teal Pigment: The color selection is gorgeous. It features a rich, deep teal green tone that remains completely uniform throughout the entire 1kg spool, completely avoiding the chalky or washed-out appearance common in lower-grade budget matte blends. Impeccable ±0.02mm Dimensional Accuracy: I measured the line diameter at multiple random points across the roll using digital calipers, and it stayed highly consistent. This precise uniformity completely prevents under-extrusion gaps or sudden over-extrusion z-banding on flat surfaces. Neat Eco-Friendly Cardboard Spool: The filament comes tightly layered onto a rigid cardboard spool. The spool rims are completely round and smooth, rolling cleanly in standard external holders and automated feed paths without creating loose friction snags or dust. Makerspace Setup & Printing Calibration Tips: Watch Your First-Layer Squish: Matte PLA blends can sometimes be slightly more brittle than standard raw PLA due to the organic matte filler additives. To ensure a bulletproof foundation on wide-footprint prints, make sure your bed leveling is dialed in for a clean, flat first-layer squish to prevent corner lifting. Keep Part Cooling Aggressive: Because matte-filler plastics tend to hold onto heat for a split second longer than standard raw filaments, lock your part cooling fans to 100% in your slicer settings to ensure sharp overhangs and crisp structural bridging look pristine. My Settings: Achieved flawless results running a 205°C nozzle temperature, a 55°C bed temperature on a textured PEI sheet, and a standard generic PLA slicer profile with zero extensive tuning needed. The final takeaway: ELEGOO has delivered a top-tier aesthetic material that provides an incredibly professional, premium finish for a very affordable price point. It flows reliably, handles complex structural geometries cleanly, and provides a unique matte color profile that looks exceptional on a storage rack or display shelf. It is an absolute home run for any maker looking to elevate the overall visual quality of their cosmetic models.

Beware of shipping... I didn't receive filament.
I’m giving this filament five stars because I’ve used this brand many times and it has consistently performed beautifully. The matte finish is lovely, the colors are rich, and the prints come out with a clean, professional look that makes even my most eccentric creations appear as though they know exactly what they’re doing. In this particular order, however, I did not receive the filament at all. Instead, Amazon delivered a plastic rope rug, which was certainly unexpected and not especially useful for 3D printing unless someone has developed a very unusual extruder. That shipping mix-up was frustrating because by the time I processed the return, the double pack in these colors was no longer available. I ended up purchasing a four-pack of matte filament from the same brand in different colors, and it has been excellent, just as I expected. So while this review isn’t about the specific spools that should have arrived but chose another destiny, it is very much about my experience with this brand. Based on previous purchases, the quality is outstanding, and I would absolutely buy it again. Five stars for the filament itself, even if this particular shipment took a detour through the rug department

Produces a beautiful smooth matte finish that does an excellent job of hiding layer lines
I've been extremely impressed with ELEGOO Matte PLA. It prints beautifully and produces a smooth matte finish that does an excellent job of hiding layer lines, giving prints a clean, professional appearance right off the printer. The filament arrived perfectly dry, well-packaged in a vacuum-sealed bag with desiccant, and the spool was wound evenly from edge to edge with no tangles or feeding issues during printing. One of the things I appreciated most was how easy it was to switch from my usual Sunlu PLA 2.0+ settings. I used the exact same profile on my printer and achieved excellent results without having to spend time recalibrating temperatures, flow rates, or other settings. Everything worked perfectly from the first print. Considering the print quality, consistency, and packaging, the price is extremely competitive and offers outstanding value for the money. Overall, this is an excellent matte PLA that delivers great-looking prints with minimal effort. I'll definitely be purchasing more colors in the future and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality matte filament.

Excellent matte PLA. You may have issues with the cardboard spools.
Filament has a wonderful matte finish that effectively hides layer lines on prints. With a little tweaking on filament settings produces great prints. My only complaint is about the cardboard spools. Several had bend edges and while this wasn't a problem at first when the spool got lighter they started skipping and bouncing around in the AMS unit often causing the print to stall. I ended up respooling onto plastic spools. This isn't a problem limited to Elegoo, I've had the same issue with other brands that use cardboard spools.

Defective roll - but happy ending.
Edit: 4/16/25 - I have to hand it to Elegoo support, they reached out to me on their own (I didn't message them) and offered to send me a replacement spool at no cost to me. I agreed and the new Matte black spool came. Same printer, same settings, and even the same print file in my Octoprint - and let me tell you it was way different this time - it worked. The matte black is lovely and does a great job at hiding the layer lines and making it look very high end/polished. Thank you Elegoo for giving me a chance to try your products again! First time purchasing Elegoo plastic filament. I have had lots of success with their resins for SLA printing, so they were a trustworthy brand. I needed some matte black PLA for some prints where I was trying to minimize the print line visibility without the need for sanding. I have no idea if I had a defective roll, but no matter what I did, I could not get the black matte PLA to melt. I started at the lower end of the temp on the roll (190) and was not able to get anything to come out. I upped it in 5-degree increments until I was at the high end of the temp showed on the roll. I went 10 degrees past that and stopped because I did not want to damage my hot-end. I automatically assumed I had some kind of hardware issue. Maybe my hot end was clogged or the thermistor in my Ender 5 Pro died. I could tell the stepper motor was advancing the filament because I could see the gears turning, but it was just grinding away the plastic, as it couldn't advance the filament because it would not melt. I swapped the hot ends (.4), swapped out the bowden tubing going into the hot end, and checked all sorts of things. After spending hours, I could not get this filament to MELT. Eventually, I swapped it out with another PLA and it had no issues. Swapped it back to the Elegoo matte PLA and couldn't print because it would not melt. This was my first time printing matte PLA, so I thought maybe this stuff is just extremely exotic and hard to print? I have no trouble printing ABS, but maybe this stuff is more hardcore? So, I did some searching and that was not the case. It should just print like any other PLA. I had ordered two rolls - so I opened the other roll, hoping maybe the first roll had some defect and the second roll would not print either. I ended up throwing both away. I purchased a matte black SUNLU roll, half expecting it to also not melt but it had no problems. This has made me nervous to buy Elegoo filament, possibly due to quality control issues. I was looking to buy transparent filament and they have the best price, but I can't bring myself to buy it. I already threw away $30 worth of filament. I don't want to throw away another $17. I have no problems recommending their resins, but I would be worried about buying filament again.

FILAMENTO SEM FILAMENTO
Fiquei totalmente decepcionado, os 4 rolos de filamento vieram com menos de 10% de produto e no anuncio nao descrevia isso.

Consistent Quality Prints Time after Time
Elegoo Matt is my go to filament of choice. It prints amazingly in my Bambu X1C with very few print failures. Things it does great at. Bed adhesion - I have never had to worry about first layer issues with this stuff, if anything it manages to stick just a little too well, needing a little patience for it to cool before removing from the plate. Colour matching - I've bought quite a few rolls of similar colours are various time intervals over the last year or so since I started using it. The colours seem to match excellently with little variance. Whilst I'm reviewing the black and white here, I have quite a lot of the colour option and the same goes for all of them. It's my go to filament.
