This Album Rocks
It is difficult to comprehend why this album was never commercially successful when first released. Sounding somewhere between Nazareth, the Heavy Metal Kids & Humble Pie with a sprinkling of New York Dolls glam & with one of the most distinguisable album sleeves of the 70s it should of been a sure fire hit. With tracks like Hello New York, Bright Light & Rock out Claudette this album certainly rocks big time. This new release sounds better than the original cd version and features 10 bonus tracks including the brilliant James Dean & the wonderful gospel inspired New Moon Tonight which showcases Des Barres incredible voice to great affect. The quality of the live tracks leaves a lot to be desired but nevertheless this is still a must for fans of 70s British Rock.

1973 A true contender
I love this album it is a typical 70`s rock band my only fault is I didnt discover it until 1995. If Id known about it then my friends would have been bombarded it is everything I love in a rock band. Vocal supreme Mr Michael Des Barres is on top form no matter who he joins up with the man is pure gold , unfortunatly not everything he touched turned to gold, His next big step was the mighty Detective and what a brilliant band they were only to implode after two albums. Silverhead a bright shining star that sizzled and expanded before burning up and shooting away RIP.

Classic Second album
Brilliant second album from Michael des Barres, its criminal that the 2 Silverhead albums and the follow up Detective albums do not have a proper current CD release.

mirror mirror on the wall
This is the second and final album from this relatively overlooked band. They're said to be glam rock and although they certainly have that glam rock "look" i feel they were a bit heavier than most of the glam bands of the age.The album boasts one of the most recognizable covers of the 70's and on the reverse you get photos of 5 bare chested hairy rockers glaring at you!! The singer Michael Des Barres certainly has a scarey image with his chiseled looks and staring eyes. The band are very tight musically and both guitarists play some excellent heavy riffs sounding like Led Zeppelin on "bright light" and there's some nice slide guitar on "more than your mouth can hold". But it will be Michael Des Barres voice that will make you either love them or hate them. He sings in a very high register somewhere up with Joe Cocker or Roger Chapman although with a rockier edge. He reminded me a lot of Ian Hunter in places but with less passion. The album is let down by some weak tracks, especially the one and only ballad "only you", but contains enough above average rockers, sounding surprisingly similar to Nazareth, to make it a worthwhile listening experience.

A Bargain...
I'd disagree about it being better than the first album, but it's still a real bargain at just under a tenner. Crikey, "More Than Your Mouth Can Hold" and the single version of "Rolling With My Baby" make it worth twice that! Then there's "Hello New York", "Heavy Hammer"...Oh, every track is a classic...I'll say exactly what I said about the first album...BUY IT. OWN IT. LOVE IT!!!!
