Dark Horse's hidden gems
A superb box set from the Dark Horse himself. George never really changed throughout his solo career, he wasn't interested in fashion or trends, just immaculately arranged and recorded music played with primo musicians. All Thing Must Pass and Living in the Material World remain his best albums, but this collection from the 1976-92 when he had his own label (Dark Horse, obviously) is remarkably strong and consistent. Even a lesser album like Gone Troppo, which doesn't contain anything particularly well known, has its hidden charms. This set is also worth it for the brilliant double live album from George's shows with Eric Clapton & Band - the level of playing is pretty damned high, to say the least, and Hari does a great cross section from his Beatles and solo repertoire. Nice DVD (including a Dark Horse doco and selections from the Japan gigs) and booklet too, with some liner notes from Rolling Stone's David Fricke. And I reckon Thirty Three and a Third and Cloud Nine rank among George's best work. Highly recommended.

You'll kick yourself if you miss out on this!
It's great to see some of these videos again after so long. I remember watching some of the videos released with the singles from 'Cloud 9' when they appeared in 1987 and I'd forgotten just how good they were. There's also some outtakes from the 'Live In Japan' tour which I hadn't previously seen, with George and good friend Eric Clapton playing up a storm together.I'd forgotten how Monty Python-esque George's videos tended to be- especially in the videos for 'This Song'and 'Crackerbox Palace'. Equally bizarre is the psychedelia of 'When We Was Fab' and the British version of 'Got My Mind Set On You' with its dancing furniture. There is also some commentry from the man himself about the meanings behind the songs and his life. It's inspired me to buy some of the early Harrison albums missing from my collection. Highly recommended to any Harrison fan and also to those who just need reminding of this guy's talent.

Anything George is good
This is an eclectic collection of George’s work. I personally would have liked a few more videos & im not keen on the film score for Shanghai Surprise but that’s just personal taste. Well worth having if you’re a fan of George’s work though. Nicely packaged as well

Great content but not very well put together
I bought this DVD for my partner who is a long term George Harrison fan. I have also always liked George as a musician and as a human being. There is plenty in this DVD to please - performances and chat - and George's sense of humour is always evident so we both enjoyed the content. The video quality is fine. What's not so good is a rather confusing menu when the DVD is first loaded and, more importantly, fairly poor editing throughout. The latter makes the viewing experience less enjoyable than it should be but it is worth persevering with.

mystic magic
It's nice that they split up the boxed set items in order to purchase them individually. This DVD is superb especially the live Japan section although it's all very, very acceptable. The strange thing is after all these years I've just realised that one of the glamorous (what?)Rose and Valerie type characters in court on This Song is none other than the (show up for the opening of an envelope)Mr R Wood. Anyway the point is this is a great purchase so I'd recommend it to anyone who's into George or eerily into Ronnie Wood !!!!!!!!!

great DVD, but you may already have it
Firstly I must warn all fans who bought the Dark Horse Years Box Set, that this DVD is actually the exact same as the Bonus DVD that came with the box set. So save your money. As far as the disc is concerned, there is lots to satisfy fans of George Harrison. Promo videos from 1976 onwards, footage of George performing songs from Shanghai Suprise, footage from his Japanese tours, and some poignant moments from a host of interviews.Alas there are gaps. Some promo videos are not included (True Love,Blow Away, All those Years Ago, Save The World)and the few excerpts from the Japanese Tour suggest that there is a lot still to get an airing. There are no Wilbury clips either. The disc, however, remains a nice tribute to the "Dark Horse".

John Matthews' George Harrison Dark Horse Years Review
The delivery and quality of the product were excellent and the DVD itself contains lots of interesting and insightful information about George Harrison's Dark Horse Record Label. The information in the DVD was tight and meaningful and also portrayed George Harrison and his relationship with his record label in a positive as well as intriguing light. Also, many of the songs included on the DVD I had never heard before and it was a good experience to hear the for the first time. A lot of the songs sounded new and fresh and had vibrancy about them despite their longevity.
