Mockins 70"x30"x6" XXL Folding Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier w/ 500 Lbs Cap

I recently acquired the XXL cargo rack and bag set for my Yukon SLT SUV, and it has truly been a game-changer for our family trips. The spaciousness of the cargo bag allowed me to effortlessly store all our essentials, from luggage to pet items, beach gear, a travel bed, beach chairs, cooler, and more.Installation was a breeze, and the rack securely hooked onto the back of my vehicle without any issues. However, there is one important consideration to note: when the cargo bag is fully loaded, it may obscure the rear lights and license plate of your vehicle, potentially posing a safety concern for drivers behind you. Fortunately, my Yukon SLT is equipped with a brake light at the top, and my side mirrors feature turning lights, mitigating this issue to some extent.Despite this minor inconvenience, I am thoroughly impressed with the overall quality and functionality of this cargo rack and bag set. It has made packing for family outings significantly easier and more organized, and I highly recommend it to fellow adventurers seeking a reliable storage solution for their SUVs.

I did a lot of searching & comparing prior to purchase, debating on what size rack I REALLY needed... no one ever said they wished they had LESS space, right?! Right. Chose the Mockins XXL because of the reviews and what I could see online, and when it arrived it did not disappoint! Fully coated, easy to assemble, and it is LARGE. Only issue: when assembling the two halves of the basket, they did not line up. Appeared to be a manufacturing defect in the length of the side rails, but there was an increasing amount of gap through the whole width of the rack that then made the bolts too short to secure the center spine. I immediately took photos and emailed them to Mockins Support, who returned my email within a few hours and had a complete replacement basket shipped to me within that same day. Absolutely INCREDIBLE customer support! [and the replacement parts were perfect]

OMG! Saved my travel plans. Filled this thing with 400lbs of luggage to move my daughter across 4 states. We hit a MAJOR pothole in the road that would have hit our heads on the ceiling of the car. The hitch wasn't affected at all. There was a fair bit of assembly, with decent instructions. The removal is NOT convenient as you have to loosen a bolt in order to remove the hitch. The bolt, and associated metal plate, holds the hitch tight against the car.

Didn't last 2 years. Terrible quality. Pieces didnt fit correctly during installation. Had to send the first one back as a result and due to missing pieces. Second one still didn't feel like it was machined to proper tolerance. Quality of the metal is bad. The basket sags and it keeps getting worse. At this point we have a few inches of clearance. Going to have to have to buy a new one (from a different company) and have it shipped to where we are on vacation and hopefully be able to assemble it. As much as we paid for this, very disappointed. This was literally a big piece of junk. The bad was nice to give credit.

Exactly what we needed! The bag was very large and kept everything dry as we traveled multi-state through the rain. The folding cargo carrier was great, easy to adjust when not in use and the license plate holder worked perfectly to flip up when not in use. The did add removable brake lights to the carrier as the bag covered the tail lights on my Explorer. Worth every penny and is a game changer for traveling with kids and dogs.

Does not handle 509 lbs

Did exactly what I needed by expanding my cargo carrying space for my pickup truck during hunting travel. Placed the load on the carrier as balanced as possible. Wasn't happy with the "Rigidity" during a test run before the 1,000 mile trip. The bag is a great idea but it is not as "Water Resistant" as I would wish. When I loaded the carrier, it created pockets for water to sit and that is exactly where I believe water came in. Didn't hurt much since I had Plastic Bins inside to hold my gear but nevertheless, "Water Resistant" remains (?) questionable. Purchased this for our family trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park and it worked amazing. I got the XXL model for the trip but reading the comments , regarding the bolt snapping/breaking , I went to my local hardware store and was informed by the gentleman that the main screw where it bends is a 4.5 , he suggested for me to get something stronger for it since it was a long trip and wanted me to avoid any problems or issues , so I got a different bolt that is about 10.9 (in the pictures it’s the yellow looking bolt) . Total cost was about $9 for the bolt. After driving the 1,500 miles to park and back it performed amazing with no problems. I also believe the bolt might have snapped due to users exceeding the weight capacity. Assembly did take a bit so make about 1-2 hours to complete. It weighs about 75 lbs. so if you can have somebody help you lift to put into the hitch, it would make it a lot easier. I haven’t tried it on my Subaru Forester, but it did fit the Chevy traverse like a charm. Another thing to add, is it does come with a hitch lock however be sure to check your car as we had issues trying to put it on because of the way that the Chevy traverse has the trailer light connector right next to it. We ended up purchasing a $3.99 hitch pin with clip at U-Haul and that did the trick. Be sure to fasten your anti-hitch rattle ( the things that looks like a U bolt ) to ensure your load isn’t moving around, this can also cause an accident if strong winds occur. The bag is easy to clean and protects your items from elements. I definitely recommend a 10/10 for everything. It saves a-lot of space inside the car and it’s very reliable. The fact that it can fold up makes it even better. The price is amazing!!! if this one doesn’t fit my Subaru due to the size I will definitely be purchasing the smaller one.

I can’t say enough good things about this hitch cargo storage box. This hitch carrier is great, used it for a family trip from MB to BC, over 6500km, 7 people worth of things crammed into 6 bins and then some, fit great into the Mockins waterproof bag. Everything stayed nice and dry and had no issues at all. Added a set of LED signal lights because of the size it covered the vehicles lights, still worked out great. Wouldnt have been able to do the trip without this so thanks very much and highly recommend it!

I wanted a large cargo carrier to haul my boat and kayak, etc during our camping trips with the motorhome rather than stuff them inside. I found this large one on Amazon, which was cheaper than getting one welded up. My mounting system is custom designed, as some genius manufacturer thought the sewer drain under the frame rail was a good idea. For that reason I cannot comment on your typical hitch setup using a trailer hitch. With my system the carrier hitch is supported and vertical pivot functions normally. The carrier itself is also supported underneath on both sides. This thing is solid and will take the weight, possibly more. I doubt I exceeded the 500 lbs capacity rating. The diamond mesh is thin, but welds held up under load. The bag is a thick vinyl, zippers are covered and a velcro flap keeps rain from getting inside. If you are unsure about getting the bag, get it anyways. I was glad I did. Even the storage bag for the cargo bag is well made. The combination lock is like a suitcase lock. The straps work well. The carrier went together fine and is as strong as any of them out there. Tip for the lopsided basket complainers. Never tighten the bolts completely until assembly is finished. The Mocking name plates on both sides help hold the carrier flat, so assembly on a flat, level surface helps. On the carrier's first road trip it performed well. Rain stayed out. Absolutely reccomend this product.

We just did a 1200km trip from Toronto to Mont Tremblant and back in winter, and although i was concerned that this carrier would not make it, it held up very well and the carrier bag kept everything clean and dry. We put about 200 lbs into the bag. This is a game changer for us.
