Inkheart DVD
This is a story about a man who can make characters come alive when reading a story aloud. There is a consequence to this, however, as he finds out when reading a story to his daughter. When the evil character, Capricorn, is read out of a book, this is an exchange for his wife, who is read into the book. The story is about how, many years later, he and his daughter rescue his wife and manage to extinguish the evil characters. I really enjoyed the film although the book had the edge as I felt the impact of some of the characters' actions were lost in the acting. But definitely worth watching.

Into my #2 spot!
I've always liked the Fantasy genre, and this is a good addition to it. I also feel that those who do not like deviations from original source materials, e.g. books, are setting themselves up for a fall and shouldn't bother. Rarely do book to film adaptations remain extremely accurate. It's difficult to do, as they are radically different mediums. There are different types of Fantasy sub-genre, and this is not in the Lord of the Rings type. This is sort of more like a Fairy Tale fantasy, despite the contempory setting. My favourite is still The Princess Bride. However, this one has recently nudged Stardust out of the #2 spot!

Holds its own in a dignified way
Exciting and thought provoking. The acting drew me into the plot and although it may have to compete with the multi dollar Hobbit films, holds its own in a dignified way. I have also read the book and the following two in the trilogy and found it to be very respectful to the author Cornelia Funke. So good I viewed it thrice :) Most memorable performances for me were by Brendan Fraser (Mo) and Andy Serkis (Capricorn) although all the cast were perfect for their parts.

Brilliant book and film!
My granddaughter has read the book, so I bought her the film. Both have been a big hit with all of us, with the film bringing the events and characters into a visual dimension. Great special effects and characterisation, which fully complement the book. My granddaughter is now half way through the second book in the trilogy, Inkspell, which is equally brilliant. The film will be watched several times for sure!

Very clever!
This is a really amazing film and so very clever the way it weaves several well known stories and the characters from those stories into the story itself. It's not often that I will quite willingly watch what I consider to be a 'childrens' film but my 11 year old daughter and I both love this film and will watch it again and again - and I keep buying additional copies for other people as presents - that's how much I like it!

film amazing but quality not - dvd returned
the film is amazing, great cast and reflects the book. However I have returned it today as there is an error on the disk and it jumps at around 20 mins and cannot watch the film as it jumps a huge chunk of the story. I was not able to exchange according to amazon so having to return and then buy again at a later date once the refund has been received.
