Universal Garage Door Opener Keypad for Liftmaster Chamberlain Craftsman Wayne Dalton Openers Produced Since 1993

I had a need to replace my OEM garage door keypad from Liftmaster as the keypad had become non-responsive. This was the second time I needed to replace this in the 6 years since installation. In both instances the keypad had become less and less responsive over time. Before buying this unit I looked into the cost of the OEM replacement on Amazon and it was approximately $50. To me that was quite expensive especially as it appeared the unit wouldn’t last for that long. After a little research I opted for this unit based on >800 reviews and roughly 4.5 star rating.My experience of the install was great. Took me less than 5 minutes for the install including detachment of the defective old unit. I think the instructions were pretty clear. In my case on my Liftmaster motor unit on the garage ceiling there was a “learn” button that had to be pressed following activation of the new keypad. I found this process to take no more than 30 seconds and the unit was paired. I then lifted the front panel of the old defunct unit and removed the battery and unscrewed it to allow detachment from the frame of my garage door. I took the new unit that is previously paired, removed the battery then situated in exactly the same manner as the non functioning old unit. I found that the alignment was perfect so I just used the OEM screw id previously removed to screw the new unit to the garage door frame l, put the battery back in, cover back on and then entered my passcode to test door closure then pressed enter again to reopen. The unit worked perfectly.In terms of quality I’d say the plastic gauge is thicker than the original and feels high quality. I personally think it will be as robust as the original if not more so. A feature that I think is a big improvement over the original is that when the code is entered there is an audible beep sound, on the OEM you don’t hear this so the keys I think get pressed harder “to be sure” that the keys are activated and I think that this in turn leads to the keypad failing over time. As consequence I think the ability to hear a key being pressed will actually contribute to the longevity of this unit. The keypad is also backlit but instead of a yellow backlighting this units is redder and I think easier to see in the bright sunshine as well as at night.Overall I’m very pleased I didn’t spend the extra $30 for the OEM and think this a better value and an improvement on that. If this unit lasts only 3 years like the OEM as at $20 it’s a bargain; I’d say though that I’m optimistic it’ll last for at least five if not more. A good buy folks….highly recommend.

Highly recommend this universal opener as a replacement or for use with a new opener when needed. We bought to use with our new Liftmaster 98022 side mount or jackshaft opener. Works great! Simple wireless connectivity and easy installation. Size is excellent. Responsive buttons. Previous models had excellent durability and battery life.The capability to assign a temporary access password is a great benefit for travel and other reasons requiring access to someone else on a temp basis.

This replaced my Chamberlain garage door keypad. The keypad came neatly packed in the box along with the instructions for installation and 2 screws. The battery was not connected, but it was in the battery compartment upon arrival.It took me less than 10 minutes to install this from the time I opened the box until the keypad was in place on the wall.The keypad was easy to program, and it worked well the first time and every subsequent time. It’s been used multiple times now without any issues.The keypad beeps each time you press a number and when you press enter. I really like this feature because you know it is registering the touch of each button.My only complaint would be the font size of the instructions in some sections. I had to take a picture with my phone and zoom in to read one part.Overall a great keypad and a less expensive option than the original manufacturer’s keypad.

UPDATE: Now that I’ve used this a few times, I’m disappointed in the one touch close functionality. I have a detached garage, so I am reliant on the keypad both entering and leaving the garage. While the keypad does have one touch close, it only works if you close the door pretty much immediately after you open it.That’s basically useless. Come home from buying groceries and need to unload the car? Forget it. You’ll need to enter the code to close the door when you’re done. Mow the lawn or blow snow off the driveway? Forget being able to close the door without entering the code when you’re done.I don’t know if this is a design flaw in this particular remote, or if it’s not possible for a universal remote to work well enough for the system to close a door after the keypad goes to sleep. Regardless, I guess I’ll be looking into whether I can buy a Liftmaster brand keypad for my model of opener.This may be less of an issue if you have an attached garage and don’t use the keypad to close the door. Then again, it will still be an issue if you like to leave the door open when mowing, or whatever.*******When I first installed this, I was disappointed that I had to enter my pin to close my garage door. My original keypad just needed the enter button pushed to close. I’m really glad I thought to look at the instructions inside the box and not just the ones inside the keypad cover. After programming the keypad, you can enable one touch close by pressing 9 and 1 simultaneously and holding for ten seconds. Once I did that, now I just need to push the enter button once to close the door. Yay!I’m really happy with this keypad. My original liftmaster keypad from 2007 hasn’t been working well for a couple of years and stopped working altogether last week. The guy who usually helps me with stuff around the house isn’t around suddenly, so I thought I was going to have to call a garage door company, and how many hundreds would this cost?!?A bit of Googling, and I leaned the keypad buttons eventually wear out. The flaky behavior of the buttons that didn’t go away with battery replacement definitely seemed to fit that cause. However, I still didn’t realize I could fix this easily and nearly called a garage door company. A bit more googling, though, and I found a video showing someone replacing a keypad with a universal one. Hmm. That seemed worth watching.There’s just one screw to unscrew under the battery, then you slide the keypad up to remove it from the screw sitting behind the keypad. Then you just put the new keypad over that screw, slide down, and screw in the one screw under the battery.Hoy cow, I thought. I have a screw driver and more than half a brain. I think I can do this!I did. In ten minutes. The instructions for programming the keypad are on the keypad cover, and also in more detail on a sheet that comes in the box. There are different instructions for different years of garage door openers, but for most of them, it’s as easy as looking at the color of the learn button on the garage door opener, then looking at a table in the instructions to see how many times to push enter on the keypad at one of the steps when following the instructions.I did all the programming before I attached the keypad to the side of the garage. Just stood on a stepstool so I could reach the opener and followed the instructions. Worked easily the first time.This repair I’ve been dreading was so ridiculously easy that I don’t know if what I did even counts as a repair. All I know is that I’m glad I bought this keypad, and other than initially not realizing I could activate one touch close, I had no problems at all. I don’t know what a garage door company would have charged, but I know it would have been more than the $28 I spent on this opener. Ten minutes of my life well spent, especially as winter is arriving!

I really like this keypad—it’s very easy to connect to our community gate, and the battery replacement process is simple for all residents to manage, which is a big plus.The only issue we encountered was with the instructions. They indicated that you need to press the button three times to pair with the gate, but that didn’t work for us. After some trial and error, we found that pressing it twice actually does the trick. It would be great if the instructions could be updated to reflect this.

Easy to read AND follow instructions. Setup the Door opener and "in business" in less than 10 minutes. Just know that you need to execute the setup quickly. Read the instructions a couple of time prior to entering the learning mode on opener because learning mode gives you about 30 seconds before turning off.

It was a snap to install and i was able to use the same code as the old one without having to reprogram it.
