I don't want to install any (more) cameras, at least not unless it's more security cameras, in my workplace, for cost and other reasons - partly because people just don't like the feeling that they're on camera, even in the workplace where there's no real expectation of privacy. But at the same time, I want some idea of "traffic" patterns of employees and this really fits the bill. I know the idea is to record a count of humans passing through at an entrance for a retail location, and it'll work great for that. That's fine. But there's a certain passage at work that people need to take to get to an area that's kind of a hideout for unscheduled breaks replete with shop talk and nonsense, and general lack of work being done. And it's also on the way to where people go to sneak a smoke. I already know who's going there, but I wanted to know how often it was happening. I wanted to anonymously know how often people were abandoning their work station (and thus abandoning customer service) to go to places that aren't really authorized, and places they don't need to be. As soon as this arrived I installed it, and I locked the counter so that it can't be reset. I placed it in the only location where it must be passed by and can't be ducked or tricked - just to get an idea of how many times folks were accessing an area they shouldn't be accessing. I need to know if that area needs to be remodeled to just put in an emergency exit only, or maybe get new staffers who don't want to go play hookey all the time. LOL. Works great! Tested it myself and tried to defeat it by sneaking under it, jumping over it, etc. Nope. Only thing is that if it's a wide passage and there are more than 1 person passing, it might get counted as only 1 passage - but they need to be really close together for that to happen and it'd be more likely if an adult and child were together than a pair of adults - so I think it's very accurate. This is just the thing to count movements. Should be great at a retail entrance, but it's superb for anywhere you need a movement count but don't want to get intrusive with cameras and don't want to review camera footage and count passers-by with the recording running on high speed. Just very simple, and very effective. Love it. And I definitely recommend it!

This counter worked perfectly for 8 months, then started vastly overcounting. I replaced the batteries and it started vastly undercounting. Now, 10 months in, it's completely non-functional. I really wanted to love this, but it's just not reliable. Edited to add: the company offered me a full refund. Excellent customer service!

If you own or operate any type of retail business there will come a time when you'll need to get an accurate idea of your foot traffic. At least you should, and particularly if you're making any major decisions such as increasing staff, expanding your floor space, etc. This smart counter is an excellent way to do it. Installation is simple--some self adhesive mounting plates are included but I used industrial strength velcro. It guess it's pretty much the same thing but I just like the velcro for a variety of reasons. The device operates on four batteries and the product description says it'll last for over a year without needing a change. I've been using it for several months now and it's still going strong. A keychain magnet is included which is required to reset the device (prevents accidental resets). The counter has two modes--one where each pass is counted, the other where each second pass is counted. I use the second mode in my business to get a more accurate count. It's not the most complex device nor is it the most granular traffic count but to get a fairly accurate idea of basic numbers it's great. Recommended!

Device began with accurate counts but now VASTLY overcounts traffic into the tens of thousands when at most there are 100 people.

I questioned whether this would work or not and how hard it would be to get it aligned up (sort of like a garage door detector), but to my surprise this is really easy to use and install. I needed to monitor traffic for a spot I have and so I just put the batteries in the boxes (2 AAA each) and then mounted them on both sides of the entrance and also when the batteries are installed there isn't an on/off button or anything. They are just ON. The accuracy was quick and easy as our first installation of them without changing anything worked! Thing is they are going to count people on the way OUT as well, so you have to sort of HALF the number at the end of the day unless someone is still in your place lurking and waiting. :D They don't make a sound or a beep when they read people either and the little reset key is a bit odd but managed to get it working too. So on the second pass of people leaving there is another setting that counts just the second pass (people leaving) which is also very helpful. I forgot about that little feature. Overall this is a great option for a small business that wants to monitor traffic to their place whether it's a stall at a flea market, shop in the mall, down on mainstreet or wherever it will work for you and give you an idea of how many people came by that day and entered your space. It's good to know if you compare it to your sales that day whether people browsed more than bought and what you can do to change that. At first I thought the price was WAY too high for these units, but looking at the market at other offerings even here on Amazon the prices can go up QUICKLY by hundreds of dollars, so while this one was at a reasonable price (subject to change at any time) others can be twice as much though some offer APPS on your phone etc. To me I like this simpler system. It's great for small business and if you need one, consider this one as in comparison don't go overboard when all you are needing is to monitor traffic. Definite BUY!

My husband recently wanted to get some people counters for his car lot / mechanic shop. There was a few more doors that needed a couple extra so as soon as I saw this I had to get it for him. This came very well packed and secured and everything was perfectly as described in the ad. Nothing was missing or damaged from delivery and everything was in pristine condition. Very heavy-duty very well made and just an all-around great value for your money. The instructions are clear and easy to read and very helpful for a first-time setup. My husband had this ready to go in no time and once it was all set up it works perfect. It will easily count every person that comes into the business so we are able to get an idea of daily numbers. Could not be happier with this and did not run into a single issue. You just got to set this up in the right spot and read the directions and you're good to go! Really cannot be happier and definitely think this is a solid 10 out of 10 amazing value for your money! Works perfectly as it should and checks every box it is supposed to!

How I Use It: So I’ve been using this smart coounter brand person counter for two months mainly for my small business. Features that stood out to me: The infrared works great, and I also really liked the automated counting because it simplifies my day a lot. The fact you get two of them was pretty good too, I tend to get more work done. My Personal Experience: If I compare this one against the others I’ve used, this one is just plain better. I wasn’t expecting to like the auto counting and size as much as I did. Pros and Cons: What was good: ease of use, how small they are. What was not: pricey. Durability: After two months, it still does its job the first time every time with no fuss. I can’t really ask for more. Final Thoughts: Overall this is best for DIY tinkerer types. It’s been good for me and my needs and I’d buy it again.

Die Grösse jedes Kästchens beträgt rund 5.5 cm x 8.5 cm. Die Kästchen sind soweit gut verarbeitet, es gibt keine Grate oder scharfe Kanten, an denen man sich verletzen könnte. Zum Betrieb von Sender und Empfänger benötigt man jeweils zwei AAA-Batterien, die nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten sind. Die beiden Kästchen sollen in einer Höhe von ca. 1.2 Metern und in einer Distanz von max. 5 Metern gegenüberliegend angebracht werden. Zur Befestigung liegen vier Klebepads bei, alternativ können die Kästchen auch an einem Aufhänger aufgehängt werden. Bei der Installation sollte man die Hinweise in der Bedienungsanleitung berücksichtigen, damit die Funktion nicht beeinträchtigt wird. Unter anderem mag das Gerät keine Sonneneinstrahlung und keine elektromagnetischen Quellen (z.B. Diebstahlschutz-Detektoren) in nächster Umgebung. In der Empfangseinheit hinter dem Batteriefach ist ein Schiebeschalter verborgen, mit dem eingestellt werden kann, ob jeder oder nur jeder zweite Durchlauf gezählt wird. I've been using the Smart Counter Retail People Counter with Display for our recent event, and it’s been quite effective. The setup is straightforward: you position the transmitter opposite the counter, and it counts every time someone passes between the two devices. You have the option to count every single pass or every second pass, which is handy depending on your needs. One thing to note is that it doesn’t connect to any software, so you have to manually read the count. This might be a drawback for some, but it worked well for us. The device provided an accurate count of 3,152 people, which matched the number of tickets handed out at the door perfectly. It’s battery-operated and protected from unauthorized reset as it can only be reset using the touch key that is included with the kit. This counter does its job well, and I found it to be a valuable tool for our event.
