Q: In what way does your grease 88693 differ from your grease 80360? both seem to have the same product description and applications.

Thank you for your interest in Danco products. Silicone grease has a higher silicone content, making it better for a long term lubricant, such as on an O-ring that will be sliding. Waterproof grease is good as an installation aid, for inserting parts that will be making a seal and not be moving again.

Q: if it's food grade, why does it say keep out of reach of children?

I can't say for sure, but I would guess that although it is intended for use in water systems where it will not dissolve into the water while in use and it contains no chemicals that would get into the water, it should not be used as a lip balm, a skin cream, put in nose or ears, or eaten by children or whatever else they might try to do with it. Q: Can this be applied to the o ring for the (whole house) water filter canister, I need something watertight but also I can take it apart every month.

Yes. I use this on my whole house Filter, & on my under sink filter to lubricate the rubber O rings. Works well. Unlike Vaseline or similar petroleum based lubricants, it will not dissipate and does not appear to degrade over time.

Nice sealant/ coating!

Good stuff! I appreciate being able to add a coating to an O ring for, I believe, an even better seal. No problems yet! Just a DIYer with no plumbing experience but who has saved $100s (if not a couple thousand over the years) in plumbers fees!
