Will it get loose after washing?

I wear one at work . I'm a diesel mechanic. So gets pretty greasy. I just soak down with dawn dish soap and have had for a year and still good. I just hand wash mine .

Is this the best Wrist Brace brand? The quality of how?

There is no best wrist brace brand. The wrist brand shown is a very good one. Comfortable and supports well. No places that are irritating or rubs the skin. I have bought numerous braces of all the different brands. Some were very irritating, metal support uncomfortable or it was not made very well. But this one has worked the best for me.

If a wrist size is at the top end of one size and the bottom end of the larger size--8"--which do you order?

I would suggest the large/extra large. My wrist is 6.75" and the medium/large is perfect. I tried the straps at a larger circumference and the straps are barely long enough for me to feel comfortable that they won't pop loose.

I want to remove the metal part, but both sides are sewn! How do I take it out?

The sides which are sewn in are the PLASTIC stays. They are NOT supposed to be removed. The METAL stay is the one which supports the palm of your hand. It can be removed by sliding it out the bottom end which goes from the wrist toward the forearm (i.e., in the direction of the elbow.)
