Just finished the installation, Note: there have been a few product changes.
Using "Shearwigs" excellent write-up on how to bolster the "weak" link in the regulator as a guide, I proceeded to update prior to replacing the drivers side front power regulator unit on my 1999 Durango SLT on 11-26-2022.There appear to have been a few changes in the regulator design since Shearwig produced his tutorial. There wasn't an existing hole in the lower portion of the traveling regulator plate. Simple to remedy that though with a 1/8" drill bit. There is also an abutment/protrusion in the casting of the plastic cable termination block that's mounted in the traveling regulator plate (the plastic block the mod is strengthening). You can actually see a small square addition in Shearwigs photos at the bottom of the plastic cable termination block. On my unit this casting protruded about 1/16" above the back side of the metal plate, causing the aluminum angle to not sit flat against the plate or plastic block. I found a thick 1/8" rivet backing washer sandwiched between the steel plate and angle aluminum made up that extra height perfectly. It's a little tricky to get it in but it's worth the effort. And, after the initial installation, I discovered a noise as the regulator passed the halfway point up and down. A borescope allowed be to find the source quickly. There is a cable retainer that is mounted to the regulator channel and it passes through the channel protruding into the pathway of the plastic cable termination block. The plastic block doesn't hit it, but both angle aluminum pieces built as described in Shearwigs post will hit the protrusion. You'll need to trim the front (engine side) of the aluminum angles (the side that doesn't have the diagonal notch in Shearwigs photos) to match the cutout you'll see in the plastic cable retaining block on the inside of the channel. It took a notable portion of the angle aluminum off that side, but I don't think the ultimate purpose is terribly weakened. You might be able to remove the cable retainer all together and avoid modifying the modification. Since Dorman went to the trouble of putting the cable retainer there I suspect it has a purpose so I elected to mod the mod.Review Shearwigs tutorial in detail then take a good look at your power regulator and you should be able to work out what mods you may have to make.Cheers!

Works
My front window mechanism broke during the summer 2 years ago, mechanics wanted slot of money to fix. At the time my truck was pushing almost 20 yrs old. I thought I might be able to do this myself after watching some videos. This item looked just like the original item. Easy to install, I did put 1 piece on backwards so I HD to fix that. After that worked good ,nice and smooth and quietAnd about 3 months after I did the driver s side window. He passenger window in the back door broke

Good replacement, but will still break
I bought this window regulator to replace the faulty one on my 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport. The issue is, as somebody else has wrote, is that the plastic/ABS part, where the 2 wire nubs meet and maintain tension, WILL break over time. Even with "normal" usage. You see, I replaced the window regulator about 2 years ago, with a different brand, because the one installed, at that time, had also broke at the same spot, where the 2 wires are met.I am hoping that this replacement will last longer than a couple of years. Thankfully, there is a limited warranty with this brand, and I may need to use it, once it breaks.I would hope that the manufacturer would read the comments about this very COMMON issue, and create a version 2.0, that addresses this issue. So far, my window rolls up and down like it used to since replacing with this unit.

Good luck getting Warranty Support
DO NOT BUY THROUGH AMAZON/DORMAN STORE ON AMAZONLook if you are familiar with the design of this part you get 4-5 years out of them if your vehicle is subject to temperature extremes and that's it, so get used to it. Dodge has a horrible design for the window regulator and it is not if it breaks, it is when. It doesn't matter if you buy the Mopar part, TLC, or anyone else, the design is all the same. Dorman makes a good part, but better than that, they have a lifetime warranty. Your best deal is to buy a Dorman so you buy it once and replace as needed, all other OEMs only come with a 1 year. The problem is, apparently the warranty is only as good as who sold it to you.I purchased this item in 2017 and it recently broke. Dorman products have a limited lifetime warranty, but it's worthless if you can't get warranty support. This was sold by Amazon.com Services LLC in 2017 (today it appears to only be sold by The Dorman Store seller), I contacted Amazon and they said contact the Dorman Company, The Dorman Company says contact the seller to get a replacement. Contacting Amazon again, they say they can't process a replacement, so it has to go through the manufacturer. (Are you seeing a pattern here?)I have also replaced the passenger-side equivalent of this part from a local auto parts store. It too broke after a number of years. When the passenger-side part broke I just took it and my receipt to the counter and 90 seconds later I was walking out the door with a brand new one. No muss, no fuss.Yup, you save about $30 on the unit by getting it on Amazon over the local auto parts store, but when it breaks apparently you can't get any warranty support so then you have to buy the part again. Well, save yourself the pain and do NOT buy it here. Pay the extra $30 and get it from the local auto parts store where you can actually get a replacement when it breaks.7/7/2021 Update:I was able to contact a Dorman technical support line and directed to send an e-mail request with my receipt to [email protected] to get warranty support. I sent a message off to Dorman on 5/27/21 and a follow-up on 6/21/21 with absolutely no response to date. Apparently the warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Second time is the charm, hopefully
Ordered and installed regulator as per instructions and unit worked well until about four months down the road then it started getting stuck in the full down position when using "AUTO" down option. At first slamming the door cured it but it started getting worse until failure was assured every time it was used, not lowering the window fully was the rule of the day so one could pull on the glass to get it started.I traced the problem to an internal fault in the motor which seemed to occur under load as in raising the glass or the "AUTO" function pushing down against the lower stop. Now the product has a lifetime warranty so I contacted Dorman to find out how to file a warranty claim and was told to deal with the seller (Amazon). Upon contacting Amazon I was told that the item was over the return period and to contact dorman, I explained that Dorman said it was their problem and after some consultation with someone up the chain I was given a refund and a shipping tag, Thank you Amazon! The new regulator works great so far, fingers crossed!
