I bought these to teach different kinds of angles and how to measure angles. You get a lot in the kit for a reasonable price which makes it a nice value. The pieces easily connect to make different angles and can be measured with the two included protractors. Great homeschool learning manipulative.

Great for homeschooling

As a former math teacher, I am always looking for ways to teach different math concept that children can have a tough time understanding. My daughter academic strength is not math and she struggles with the more abstract concepts so this AngLegs Starter set was prefect for her to see more concretely the angle measurements and how they all 'fit' together. I've never used one of these sets before so it took me a few minutes of fiddling around to figure out how to put it together and how to use each item. I think it would be great to use to teach different types of triangles and various other shapes. Overall I think it's a great starter set to teach various geometric shapes and angles, but I wished that it would come with some directions.

There's a MAJOR issue with these pieces. Why are the points on each piece a different distance from each other? Why didn't you make the notches all uniform? There are also two different pieces with five notches on them, but they are different sizes. This doesn't make any sense if you're a math teacher and want to stay consistent with the scale of the pieces. For instance, if you want to make a 3, 4, 5 right triangle; there's one five-piece that doesn't make a right triangle with that combination. I'm not even sure the other 5-piece makes an exact right triangle either. I feel like I wasted my money on these, because I bought them for that type of activity. Scale is hugely important if angles are considered in the measurements. Each piece should have notches that are exactly the same distance from each other. This is a, truly, puzzling production/design issue. This is a big flaw in this (otherwise) durable and fun product for our students.
