Stick with the name brand
I’ve been getting these as a recurring order for years now. What I like about this particular one is that there’s an aluminum band woven into the fabric that helps it keep its shape. It lasts just shy of a month if you have dirty water. It can quickly soak water and get humidity into a large room. Mine is around 500sqft and not well insulated. It’s the second story of a garage that I finished with drywall, flooring, and windows but it’s still not as solid as a house so it can get leaky and let in some drafts and allow dry air in. This filter is great for quickly soaking the water up and getting the air feeling good again. Remember to actually roll it backward when you get it. It’ll come folded one way. You need to unfold it the exact opposite way when installing so that it feels like it wants to bend back into its original shape but cannot. This is what helps it keep its shape. What I do is once I get it installed in the humidifier I take a piece of the metal band and sort of use it like a twist tie to hold the two ends together so it stays in place. It fits perfectly in the humidifier. After some time the water will oxidize the metal bands at the top and bottom (there’s only two thin ones) and leave you with these sort of gray crumbs. Don’t be alarmed. That’s normal and just oxidized metal that came off. I try to wash out the basin of the humidifier every 3 months to get rid of that stuff but generally skip it in the winter because it’s too cold out to hose the thing down. But yeah, I love this product and hope they never stop making it.

Great Initial Performance But Mineral Clogs Quickly Shorten Life Span
This filter is solid replacement for the original filter that came with our AirCare 1201 MA1201. It's easily installed and a perfect fit. We're on our second replacement filter this year using this exact brand and would tell you if your humidifier seems like it just can't keep up like it did when it was new, swap out your filter and see instant results. The only real knock I have with this filter is the longevity--the original humidifier filter (using the same tap water) lasted nearly a whole winter season. These replacement filters are luck to last a month before becoming mineral saturated to the point where water apparently doesn't wick very well. We are using a vinegar/water cleaning solution as other reviews have suggested to clean these filters which seems to work fairly good at restoring the filter to usability. We add a couple of cups of vinegar to approx. 3 gallons of water in a 5 gallon bucket and then totally submerge the filter leaving it overnight. Rinse, dry, and the filter is ready to use again. All in all, this is a good filter despite its longevity issues at a fair price. The cleaning vinegar rinse is a good mitigation strategy to increase the filter's useful life but can be a hassle in the winter.

Just as good as the OEM
Just as good as a OEM but at a lower price. 2nd year using this brand. For this season, I washing the machine well, installed the wick, filled up the tank with water. Everything works great.

Been buying these for many years. Good quality and appreciate the aluminum mesh that helps them maintain their shape.

Only lasted two weeks
This was my second purchase of replacement off-market MAF-1 humidifier filters. I gave these a try because of the huge expense of the Essick filters (who's performance has been sub par lately as well) as I have two humidifiers running all the time. Don't know what happened to quality between the first and the second orders because the first one outlasted an original Essick Air filter which failed after two weeks. This second filter has only lasted two weeks as well and pretty much is no longer putting moisture into the air. Quality seems to be lacking everywhere!
