Essential modern Moroccan with classical roots
This is a beautiful book with clear recipes and gorgeous photography. I have quite a few Moroccan/North African cook books and this will become a favourite. There are seven sections: starters to share, vegetarian dishes, meat, poultry, seafood, breads and sweets. It includes classics you'd expect, traditional recipes from some of Nargisse's family and also modern takes on the style of cuisine which are bright and fresh. The recipes are clearly written and easy to follow and the preambles give serving suggestions and some lovely insights into family life and food. Every Moroccan food fan should have a copy of this to cherish.

Delicious, easy-to-follow
This Moroccan cookbook is phenomenal! The recipes are rich in flavour and easy to follow, allowing me to recreate some of my favourite dishes without spending hours at the stove. The ingredients used are also easy to source, and many of the recipes can be easily put together with staples in the pantry. Some of my favourites from Casablanca are the artichoke tagine and zaalouk (aubergine salad) but I have already earmarked 10+ other recipes to try! I have been following "My Moroccan Food" blog for several years and am delighted to have a hard copy at home. I strongly recommend this cookbook for any lovers of Moroccan cuisine!

Love Moroccan food? You need this!
My Hubby and I LOVE to cook at home and our shelves are FULL of cookbooks we've had for years, but this little gem has very quickly become a firm favourite. Maghreb is our go-to region when we want to try cooking something new and tasty and Nargisse Benkabbou doesn't disappoint. With so many recipes waiting to be tried, it's difficult to know where to start and our brand-new copy is already brimming with post-it notes. Favourite recipes include the Berber Breakfast Eggs...perfect for a lazy Sunday morning, the Merguez-stuffed Squid in Tomato Sauce...the ultimate at-home date night dinner, and the Moroccan Mint Tea Chocolate Puds, because, who doesn't like chocolate?! If you're looking for a book to help you serve up a yummy Moroccan feast without leaving home, this is the one!

Authentic, refreshing, inspiring!
I've been looking online (and in shops in Morocco) for a good Moroccan cookbook with authentic recipes but I could not find anything of quality until now: Casablanca- My Moroccan Food is an amazing collection of authentic recipes from the heart of a Moroccan family passionate about food! The author, Nargisse, also managed to create and include modernised versions of authentic moroccan recipes like her Bakoula stuffed Romano peppers. Modernising typical dishes is something nobody is doing in Morocco today and that's what makes this book so exciting! Having lived most of my life in Morocco, I can vouch for the authenticity of the recipes and I recommend this book to anybody interested in cooking!

the kindle version is excellent
As a 79-year-old lifelong bibliophile I couldn't justify buying yet another hardback book, even though I cook Moroccan food at least twice a week and it looked interesting. I therefore jumped at the Black Friday offer of the kindle version of this book. I like the simple layout for the recipes, and the instructions are very clear and comprehensive. The personal anecdotes are also interesting and informative. All the recipes are readily accessible via the Contents and Index (which, by the way, is excellent) just by two or three 'clicks' on the central control panel of the kindle. I have my eye on the Merguez burgers to start!!

So authentic, save on air-fares the cuisine will take you there!
I read all the reviews on this book and decided to order so as to complete my collection of worldwide cuisine from my own kitchen. I was certainly not disappointed, a few pages in and I was transported into her world. The photography is exceptional and her lead descriptions of the dish and her life as a preamble to the recipe are enlightening.I have only had time to try three of the recipes( all of which were so uncomplicated and tasty) I have bookmarked many more, I cant wait!!!!!

Nice sampling of Moroccan cuisine
I live in Quebec, and Quebec is very popular with Moroccan immigrants, so I know and have known many. To my delight, this led to my introduction to Moroccan cuisine, with which I immediately fell in love. Being Italian, I am quite passionate about food, and talking with my Moroccan friends, I discovered that they also have this passion, and they love Italian food as much as I love Moroccan food. So, when I saw this book, I had hoped to find some recipes that I wanted to try, including three-meat bastila (which French-speaking Moroccans usually call "pastilla") and a 12-hour steamed and seasoned carrot dish whose name I can't remember. Sadly, these two recipes are not in this book, though there is a chicken bastila that I will try. This isn't an omission. Moroccan cuisine is very vast, and this book is a sampling of the multitude of dishes, not an exhaustive encyclopedia. The subset that is in this book is quite diverse and representative, so I will still enjoy it a lot, even if it (understandably) doesn't have everything. The book itself is relatively short, coming in at a roughly 220 pages, many of which are very lovely photos. While strictly not necessary, I don't appreciate a cookbook as much if it doesn't have appetizing photos of the food, so these are very appreciated. They're also useful if one has never seen the dish assembled before. The paper is thick and glossy. The binding is solid and would lend itself well to laying flat, if it had thinner paper, but the paper is so thick that the pages just fan out when you try to lay it flat. It's not a flaw, but a tradeoff. Some will love it, some won't. The instructions seem very detailed to me, but I'm the type that rarely opens an instruction manual. To me, anything more than "mix these ingredients" and "cook at this temperature" is very detailed. I'm quite happy with this book. It has interesting recipes, it's well written, it looks good, and it's solid. Can't ask for more from a cookbook.

One of my absolute favorite cook books!
I don't often come to write reviews, but the author/chef of this book deserves to be known! Oh my goodness...thank you Nargisse for helping to make this Colombian mama a star in my home. My husband is North African and loves Moroccan food. I never felt brave enough to explore as I thought I'd do it no justice. But literally every single recipe I've tried from this book has been a roaring success at my table. And the Harira soup! Wow! Total zing. I'm making it now (for the upteenth time!) and the aromas are firing up my tastebuds...can't wait to get stuck in. A must for anyone looking to impress friends and family with incredible food
