Wheeler 43-Piece Professional Gunsmithing Screwdriver Set with Magnetic Screwdriver Handle and Storage Case for Gunsmithing

I have known for a while that I needed a good set of screwdrivers. Like most people, I have purchased plenty of cheap screwdrivers over the years. Invariably they will encounter a screw that was snugged up too tightly, and the El Cheapo screwdriver will mess up the screw head. Recently I purchased a pair of very high-end air rifles, one made in England and the other in Germany. There are a number of screws that need to be adjusted during the break-in period, and others that adjust the trigger pull weight. I wanted to be certain that these screws do not get damaged, so I began a search for a good set of drivers. This set, offered by Wheeler, seemed to offer a great combination of quality, sizes, good reviews, and an affordable price. It turns out I was correct in that assessment. I noted that some reviewers mentioned a magnet that holds the bit in place in the handle that keeps coming out. I was prepared to put a drop of epoxy on the magnet to hold it in place, but it appears that Wheeler fixed the problem. I have tried to get the magnet to come out and it will not. It's in there for good. Is this the best set you can buy? No, of course not. And if you are a professional gunsmith, I doubt you would be happy with this set. But for most of us, using these screwdrivers for all sorts of tasks, I highly recommend these. They offer a good combination of quality, assorted sizes, and usefulness, all kept in one convenient storage case, at a more than reasonable price.

You can get better but for most it would not be worth paying more. This Wheeler product works well. The quality of the steel is Good Enough But not excellent..the bits are of a lower quality steel which makes them easier to make. Ah ..I remember ! When these items were American made Hard Steel, and could last and last and hold an edge. ( my uncle was a metallurgist for the highest quality metals in the world and guess what that was for? Hum, I learned a lot from him). Any way I use the Wheeler screw driver set for my precision long range rifles and scopes. 4 of 5 stars.

Good tools to use, but clean them after use or they will rust. Update: Amazon has linked all reviews from an older screwdriver set 954621 of which is no longer made. The product pictured is 4001006 of which is the newer product line, Wheeler has stood by their warranty and replaced the set.

I purchased these mostly for the screwdriver and torx bits to go along with my Wheeler torque screwdriver. It has a good assortment that will work quite well.

Sure, it’s made in China and is not a professional set but for the money it’s good. A true professional set for a pro gunsmith is $200+ The range of heads is ideal, doesn’t have a bunch of stuff I’ll never need and has a storage area to put other bits you accumulate. The carry case is good and the magnetic handle seems sturdy but the magnet could be a little stronger. For the money, ideal.

This item was a gift. I was at my son's home and watched him while he was removing a screw from a carburetor with a standard mechanics screwdriver. I have a set of Wheeler screwdrivers and saw that he needed a set also. Like me I am sure he will now use the proper screwdriver for those special screws. If one has set of these special screwdrivers one will wonder how he got along without them.
