RadioShack 4-Channel 900MHz Wireless Intercom with VOX Mode

Purched this to talk to kids on the 2nd floor of a 100 year old house from the first floor. Works well, Volume is loud enough, but would not recommend running on batteries as it burned through Durcells in 3 days.

This radio shack wireless intercom system worked better than expected. The 900Mhz transmission was clean and clear. The range worked well too. I setup one up on a different floor and it transmitted clearly to the second floor. Didn't hear hear any annoying static at all. I would recommend this over the wireless intercom that uses existing power lines for transmission.

One star = I hate it! I have been a fan of radio shack since the early 1970,s Bought four of these back in 2007 to be able to check on my mom. They worked well, used them until two wore out around 2012. The two we bought in 2012 were not made as good even if they looked the same Now the ones we just bought are JUNK!!!!!!!!!! You have to all most yell to get the VOX to work and your going to love this one too, You know the story about the boy who cried wolf. Well half the time when you press the ( Talk) button the ( Call alarm) goes off as well! Yup so the person at the other end thinks your in need of help runs over to check on you. Now you don't know if it is a real call for help or the darn thing is messing up again!We are going to have to dump these. Radio Stack was a good company, but as other companies have done now it is ( Junk made in China) Does anyone know if any are made in the U.S.? Thanks

I got two packs of these intercoms (for a total of four) for my parents and another two packs for my family. They worked as expected, but after about four months the intercoms at my home all started sounding "low battery" alarms even though they were plugged in and had never had batteries installed. We tried installing batteries to make the alarms stop but it didn't work. Just this week my parents said one of theirs just stopped working - no alarms, no warning. So, my advice is to go to an electronics store and purchase intercoms with good warranties and an extended warranty from the store to stand behind them. These intercoms are unreliable.

I'm giving it only three stars as I believe this intercom system was previously used. The plastic was open and batteries were installed. The previous System I bought (same type) had the bags sealed with no batteries. As for the system itself, it works well. I bought two systems so I could have four speakers. I didn't have any problems getting them all to work.

Very dependable, especially when you switch it to a channel/sub channel that nobody else uses. Before I learned this trick, I was sure that my house had ghosts (because I could hear chatter coming from various rooms!). Sound quality is good; Range is good. Great device for the price.

These are the best things ever! I actually have 4 sets of these units throughout my very large house, yes I mean 8 total. They work wonderfully! I love them! They all work together, you can add as many as you want, just putt them on the same channel & plug them in, simple as that. I would definitely recommend this, its worth every penny!
